I just noticed everyone joined in June. Some of us did not and are a little bit proud to say we were here from day 1 and our associated id number is gone as well. That is no longer reflected and an affront to the veterans of STO and its forums. FIX IT!

The previous forums were vbulletin as well. My guess, its PWE policy to not allow custom avatars for users.
What I'd be in favor of is letting us remotely host our own custom avatars if they don't want us uploading them to their severs.

Oh, and I'll upgrade to "meh" because someone in another thread pointed out a Firefox addon that lets me customize the look of the page. For me, at least, it no longer looks like a 90's Geocities site.
Admittedly, it's on the low end of meh because I haven't seen a VB forum with such limited functionality since I played with free forum hosting sites.

My prior SIG did not contain any images just 2 links to stowiki account and starbaseUGC. I see people are putting their avatars down there for now. I have only been a member since April but I was used to the old design. Lots of bugs abound. I cannot find my old posts since they are renamed as Archived. I cannot search because I get a database error. This is sloppy work at its best. If this is a better design, I wonder what season 6 will be like?

It would be funny, if it weren't so poorly implemented.
Seriously people, it takes skill to TRIBBLE up a phpBB layout. This is a one-click install package on most major webhost panels with hundreds of pre-fab designs available, and anyone with basic design sense (or, say, they money available to hire someone with that sense) should be able to throw together something workable without much time or effort. Even when you consider all the PWE database junk that needs to be tied in with it, there's no excuse for how it looks, or the absence of basic, out-of-the-box functionality.
I'm not understanding the over reaction here. I understand you all want your original names, but we all knew that cryptic was merging sites. The fact that you don't have an avatar (something I like because of all the immature photos) doesn't detract from your ability to talk about the game. We all learned each other's names once and we can do it again.
I'm sure customization makes it a little more fun, but for the short term, it doesn't detract from the use of a forum.

Except for the no custom avatars thing. You know, standard issue since 2005.

Which is a bit derpy, IMHO. Especially since we're just adding them to our sigs anyways, which makes for more vertical bloat.

No I do not. Because I am not amused.
It was a bit of a shock yesterday, but all good now. Just fix a couple of bugs and we call just move along. It will be a non-issue in a month.
It doesn't detract from the product of the game at all. We can still communicate, no biggie.
