how i get this work /bind Space GenSendMessage HUD_Root FireAll $$ +power_exec distribute_shields
but it keep getting error message that say ~Unknown command ""GenSendMessage"~ i want it fire all weapon and distribute shield on my spacebar.
I'm looking into this; RL gets in the way. I haven't been able to replicate this with any of my toons. Can you tell me what you were doing when you noticed it happening. What you did just before it happened? Did you load a bindfile or did you just login?
Stuff like that would help. I'll let you know soon.
/navtoxyz is the autopilot. when in a ship, in sector space or in a space mission map, you can type /loc for your location coordinates.
it should return something like
158 55 -100
the first coordinate is X or lateral position, the second is really what I would consider Z or Height, and the third is Y vertical position.
in Sector space, the coordinates are centered on Sol System. So that's 0 0 0
if you look at the galaxy map, each square is 2500 across. So if you're going down from Sol in relation to the flat map the bottom coordinate of that sector is -2500.
using /navtoxyz you can get to eta eridani by typing in
/navtoxyz 150 55 -7500 0
where 150 is the lateral or X coordinate
55 is the height or Z coordinate
-7500 is the vertical coordinate or Y
and 0 is the distance from the destination coordinates where the engines cut off.
A bit off topic, but I wonder if you can save the aliases from the /alias command. If so, then that would be a better way of storing frequently used commands that don't necessarily need the ease of execution that keybinds give, and as such you don't want to waste a keybind on them. Commands such as these:
"/gensetvalue Hud_root traysize 10 1"
"/GenSetEarlyOverrideFloat Hud_Tray_Primaryparent1 x 75"
"/genaddwindow Hud_traybox_allpowers"
"/genremovewindow Hud_traybox_allpowers"
"/navtoxyz 150 55 -7500 0"
"/GenSendMessage Root ShowStatus" (And all the other UI windows for that matter)
One way of doing this would be to simply bind all the alias commands to one keybind, but that might make for a pretty long keybind, so I wonder if there is a way to save a file for all the aliases to automatically load from.
This way, you can simply type in the alias "/traveltoesd" and have it execute the command "/navtoxyz 0 0 0 0" without you having to alias it every time you load into another area or character, and without wasting precious keybinding space.

Interesting concept. Basically, create a list of personalized commands. I'll have to check but I would imagine that just including the aliases in the bindfile would do the trick. If so, this would let you transfer them between toons.

Sweet stuff. If we can plot important locations you could feasibly keybind "go to eta eridani" for example
/navtoxyz is the autopilot... using /navtoxyz you can get to eta eridani by typing in /navtoxyz 150 55 -7500 0...
What happens when you get the the Warp barrier? I mean if I put in /navtoxyz 150 55 -8000 0, will I autowarp through the barrier? Gosh... that would be awesome (I bet it doesn't work that way)... ???
An alias is basically a shortcut to a longer command. For example, if you wanted to use a longer command in shortened form, such as chat channels, like /chan <channel name>, you could make an alias that shortens it to /<channel name>. Type in game /cmds alias for more info.
Thanks for this. I use Q and E all the time and find adjusting by 0.25 to be too much. 0.125 works much better for me!
I don't mind 0.25 too much on my sci and cruiser, but on my escort 0.125 just seems necessary. It does however take a little while to get used to having to hit E a total of 8 times to get to full speed, since I'm so used to just doing it and kinda subconsciously stopping at 4 times.
I was thinking of setting up another 2 binds for much more gross changes too, maybe +/-0.5

You can use R to toggle full throttle on and off. You might have to double tap if you're already moving (first tap stops), but a +0.5 bind would need a double tap from less than 0.5 as well. In battle with my escort I have two speeds - full throttle and full reverse. I use RQ and RR to rapidly switch between them.
I've set up my keybinds like this:
Ctrl+X "alias startChannel "channel_setcurrent {}$$startchat""
Ctrl+T "startChannel Team"
Ctrl+G "startChannel Guild"
Ctrl+O "startChannel OmegaXIII"
Ctrl+X re-creates the alias /startChannel which is used by the other keybinds to set the channel and immediately initiate the chatbox waiting my input.

I've got my numpad keys doing this as well. Makes it nice to dial in a speed that closely matches your preys.
numpad 7 & numpad 9 are +-.25
numpad plus and numpad minus are +-.1
numpad enter = throttletoggle

I know, I just find R rather annoying as it often toggles you to a stop first. I'd rather just have gross movements.
Nice introduction.
Can someone tell me if there's a command to open R&D window like /crafting in CO?
Is there still no command to target BO other than /target <name>?

I use a joystick and throttle to play the space portions. I configured the throttle to use the following commands, so that no matter where I put the throttle, it applies the appropriate power. One of these setting should help you.

For crafting, since you can currently only do it at Memory Alpha, I am not sure if there is a benefit yet to a crafting command. However, /craft and /crafting do exist in the command list for STO, but they are not functional.

Sophia, buttons like the R&D window are controlled by the command GenButtonClick. Then, you need to have the specific button name for that. And, there are commands that are "turned off" for us. Unfortunately, I don't know that; maybe someone else does ... Pendra??
The ground commands are currently very VERY limited. With Season 4 that should change and this guide should be able to be applied there as well. ... We'll see.
So when I press F8, the only thing that happens is power goes to 100% and i go to full impulse. If I remove all the tray commands power will now go to the aft shield AND the other stuff works as well. So I'm pretty sure that the tray functions are messed up some how but I'm not real sure what I'm doing wrong. Now it also seems that if I remove all but one of the tray-binds the one that is left (e.g. 3 4) will work fine with the other commands. Each tray bind will also work just fine when I do them individually (e.g. /+TrayExecByTray 8 1) so I don't know what's going on...
Keybinds aren't the be all end all of Star Trek Online; there are some limitations to using them:
5.1 Multiple powers = Multiple presses
Many times you will be required to press the <key> multiple times to activate each power bound to that <key>. So, if you have ten (10) powers bound to one key, you will likely have to press that key 10x to get each one to activate.
Now, you're gonna groan, But isn't that what the binds are for? Why can't we activate all these power with the press of a button? The answer to that is what I call the I win button or, conversely, the I'm indestructible button (aka, hammer meet anvil). Cryptic has graciously incorporated (Thank you, again.) the multiple press requirement to prevent anyone from creating just such a monster (or two).
Could this be the reason for my problem????
Edit:
Yep, that was the problem - I just had to keep pressing that F8! :o:o
I'd like to know how I can make a keybind to switch out my devices. For instance after i use a battery i'd like to be able to quickly switch out the batts with another device in my inventory while the batts are on cooldown. Hope that makes sense. Anyone know how to do this? Thanx in advance.
Im using keybinds but i figured that the order in which they are executed are not correct.
For instance on my third line, TrayExecByTray 2 9, then 2 8, 2 7, 2 6 is not executed in the right order. it seems to be completely random
On the other hand, the 2nd line which has all my tactical abilities just begins at the first (0) and ends at the last (9) which is going great..
Is this just a visual bug? because i checked it out, and it seems the buffs really are randomly activated.
I've found that there is an issue with activation times. Some abilities have and activation time that requires the button to be depressed for 0.5 - 1.0 second. If you spam the keybind everything will go off randomly. Try pressing the button quickly but not spamming. (Press...wait 0.5s...Press...wait 0.5s...Press)
See what that does for you.

Hate to say it, but you can't do this. There is no mechanic avaiable.
Ctrl+X re-creates the alias /startChannel which is used by the other keybinds to set the channel and immediately initiate the chatbox waiting my input.
Using these binds means I don't have to manually select the channel from the chatbox and I'll never miss-tell again.
I love the use of the variable, but wouldn't it be just as effective to use the following, saving the step of hitting two keys to chat:
1) I like the idea of just pressing "left" and letting the ship make it's own turn. I fly a cruiser, so auto-turning would free up my hand for other keybinds. But I have a question. Is it possible to make it so that when I press "right", it DEACTIVATES my current left turn, and activates a right turn instead? Because, in the current system I have, I have to press "left" again to deactivate the turn before activating the right turn. I'd prefer the left turn to auto-deactivate when I press the "right" key. If there is no way around this, then I'll just have to get used to the method, but it can't hurt to ask for a better way.
Ok, sorry for the delay in answering... took me a little while to get the syntax correct and to do troubleshooting, but the following will provide what you want:
And yes, it is all one keybind, so if you copy it, select all including the double quotes at the end.
What this does is allows Ctrl D to start a continual right hand turn and Ctrl A to start a continual left hand turn. It does not matter if you are currently in a turn or not. Ctrl S will stop the turn, no matter the direction.
To make this work, you will have to hit Ctrl W to initialize everything, which has to be done each time you launch the game since aliases don't remain in memory. Also, if you don't hit Ctrl S and you change maps, you will have to hit Ctrl W again to reset the keybinds.
Edit: While my first attempt was to do the syntax and functionality, it wasn't designed for usability. So I changed it to be the WASD keys, instead of A R L S.
Obviously you'd get rid of the alias which simplifies the process of using the keybinds because you don't need to press Ctrl+X at the beginning of a play-session, however, what if the alias was more complex than it is, or what if you wanted to be able to add more commands to the chat key-binds? In that case removing the alias altogether would mean you'd have to modify each key-bind individually.
Then again, I'm a software designer heavily invested in Object Oriented Programming, so it's quite possible, and likely, to have an effect sometimes adverse on my key-binding strategies.

It would take me 3 days to get the cramps out of my fingers after a bout like this.

For some strange reason, only HALF of the commands will work in the keybind string!
Here's what I've done:
- I'm trying to make a "get the hell out of dodge" keybind.
- I made a power preset, 100% engine power (preset_3), successfully saved and loaded it in UI.
- I created a keybind text file (space.txt) and can successfully load it.
- I found my powers and tested them in the UI command so I know they work; EP2S (3 4), EvsvMnvr (7 0), EngBtty (8 0), Deut (8 1)
- I edited the space.txt file with this one string;
F8 "GenSendMessage Throttle_FullImpulse_Button FullThrottle $$ +Power_exec Reroute_Shields_Rear $$ +TrayExecByTray 7 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 8 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 8 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 3 4 $$ StatsPreset_Load Preset_3"So when I press F8, the only thing that happens is power goes to 100% and i go to full impulse. If I remove all the tray commands power will now go to the aft shield AND the other stuff works as well. So I'm pretty sure that the tray functions are messed up some how but I'm not real sure what I'm doing wrong. Each tray bind will also work just fine when I do them individually (e.g. /+TrayExecByTray 8 1) so I don't know what's going on...
Any suggestions???? I'm stumped!
Thanks,
Ith
