The ring isn't supposed to turn. It has the capability of laying flat with the ship, but you only ever saw that in the series on a damaged/destroyed ship.

All issues with the beta ships should go into the tribble forum, though.

I'm back guys - sorry!!!!!!! I've been gone for a while, but I'm now the head contact for the ship team. MTattersall moved to a different project so now it's all me.

I've got some really cool stuff coming soon. I'll have a gander through this thread soon and get back in touch with all of you - I apologize for my absence.

please please, fix the defiant, we have it super imposed to show you whats wrong, nothing major, move the naceles back (see the photos we put up) and the angle of the nose has to be tilted downward, also see photo, not hard right? I think you mistakenly think its down enough looking at it from underneath where the nose connects to the body where it has that nice indent, thats fine and all, but the nose it self needs angling down wards, it wont be defiant, till at least the model is correct, dont worry about any niggling lighting or other texture stuff, the model just needs to be right

    thanks.

actually i think before you modify the defiant or move the nacelles back a bit, you should super impose this latest image over the studio model.

The last one super imposed may not have been taken from a direct side view, the ship may have been either turned slightly facing right, therefore showing off more of the aft section to be longer, and the nacelles to be more forward than they are.

looking at this picture i took, after going to a top down view, and then rotating t he camera down while keeping the facing to ensure no movement, it looks more like the studio model in terms of naccelle placement and scale.

However, the nose piece is still glaringly high and that does not been to be angled down, however you look at it, but im not so sure about the naccelle issue.

looking at it further, something is definitely wrong with the nacelles, instead of putting the new pic in nose to nose, or aft to aft, ive positioned it where the front of the nacelle on both meet

maybe the nacelle is too long? maybe the front section of the sto model isnt scaled correctly?

i dont even think so much that the nose is angled down, it just really has a deep curve at the top.

or maybe angling it down on the sto model would fix it, since the actual nose piece appears to have the correct lines and angles.

well im no artist hopefully cpn logan and others can figure it out.

ill say this though, i hope he fixes this iconic starship as the model is completely out of whack, at least the intrepid and galaxy and other iconic ones model looks like the one on the show.

Back after several months - all the cool new stuff like the spiffy new (old!) Spacedock lured me in again! ;)

Felt this was the best place to say a huge THANK YOU!!! to whoever came up with the new hull textures and modifications for the Klingon ships! :)

Seriously - if anyone's not already seen this (might be old news by now, but it's refreshing for me!), check out the ship tailor for your Klingon ships. There's a great authentic green pattern for the Bird of Prey, and there's now a separate D7 option for the cruiser, without any of the raised patterning on the back.

Really appreciate these additions to the game - the Klingon ships have always been great fun to fly, but let down somewhat by cosmetic flaws. Not anymore - now they just look awesome!

I'd wax lyrical on the subject some more, but my battlecruiser ain't going to fly itself... ;) Thanks again, to whoever was responsible for this!

found 2 additional issues on the current sovereign model.

Not a big thing but if CpnLogan will fix the reportet issues maybe he can adjust, that the unused phaser stripes will firing too if the enemy is in the right arc.

With the Eng. Skill EPS Power Transfer you see perfectly which Phaser stripes are not in use:

(You see it or i must mark it in red?! :P )

4 Phaser shots from 1 Stripe in the aft arc of the sovereign looks ... a bit silly :<

I thought I would also mention a few model issues while its dead here at work.

1: Teir 2 cruseiers variants need a little more love. (eg. shuttlebay added to Vesper and Excalibur classes, more detail and decals added to the class in general.)

2: Galaxy class secondary hull needs rcs thrusters at front near deflector. Also deflector needs the same love that you give the Soveriegn model. Also the deflector bite as they all it has to be remodeled.

3: Intrepid under saucer needs more work.(I dont persanolly fly the class, but I did notice how it looked vey blocky)

4: Defiant fixes. (numerous liitle tweaks)

And on another note, more ship parts for each teir(or a C-Store pack) which givers us more nacelles and saucers sections to choose from as apossed to just the 3.

    Many Thanks

Thing that bugs me most with the Galaxy right now is that the Pylons curvature is "too sharp"
The Curves are supposed to be softer, longer, more drawn out.

I agree. I think the secondary Hull needs a little overhaull full stop. If I recall the pylons are attached to the Hull as a seperate section in game at the moment. The saucer is spot on, just needs the registry near the main shuttlebay.

The deflector bothers me though, as it is a seperate dish. On the current model its just the plain blue deflector. The overbite needs to be modelled on the secondary Hull, not to mention the missing rcs thrusters.

Galaxy class asside, I think the teir two crusier needs more love. The Excaliber and Vesper are dying to have a shuttlebay implimented if we have shuttles in game now.lol

There are a lot of elements of the current Galaxy that is based on the 4 foot model which is significantly different from the superior 6 foot model.

But IMO the Galaxy needs extra refurbishment using the 6 foot model as reference source and not the inferior 4 foot model.

Bugs with Prometheus variants. Copied from tribble discussion.

In this image, the model update shows that what might be the auxiliary nacelle is actually floating outside the ship connected by nothing. In the final version, this should be flush against the hull and hidden from view until MVAM is activated, only then should it pop out:

    http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/183/gameclient2011020920234.jpg

And this next one is on holodeck and I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet. Using the Cerberus lower hull, the red Starfleet streaky, stripy thing is actually not connected to the hull. It floats away from it, and carries back away from the hull into space a good long way.

    http://img602.imageshack.us/img602/183/gameclient2011020920234.jpg

Lastly, the underside of the Prometheus saucer seems to have had a texture change. It doesn't look intentional to me, as it looks really jaggy and crappy.
