My question is this - was it even considered to just make an annoucement that the pre-order items would be available at the 1-year anniversary? My guess, based on StormShade's comments, is that yes it was, but they decided that at the 1-year mark, they wouldn't make as much money. There really isn't any other reason, because sure there were people asking for them, and to give them a definite time frame would have worked, then everyone could have enjoyed them, and there would be a lot less yelling going on around here, except with the CO LT MU uniform, because that was the only thing that said "exclusive" (it did, I double checked in the CO history), the rest just said unique, and they even said they would eventually be availalbe via the C-Store (which no one really know how that was going to work when CO launched, it was mostly speculation).
All I have to say is, the extra development money Cryptic is getting from this better go to making me a TOS brige and weapons... thanks!
And to everyone saying that the problem here is that we just want something that no one else has, that isn't exactly true, I'd venture to say that most of us really don't mind other people using it, it is just that Cryptic has said something that wasn't true, that we had something that was exclusive for our support when they needed it - before launch! (not that they don't need it now). It's kind of like false advertising... imagine how the purchaser of one of these would feel if they actually though they paid for the last one, then showed up at the store to pick it up...
Where were they "very clear"? I didn't see anything about that on the box or anything. Forums don't mean anything, most people don't read them all the time. Don't tell me TOS please.
I think Metallurgist spelled out my feeling right. After the initial frustration, I lost a lot of confidence in Cryptic Studios. How will I believe what they say now? They do follow up on a lot of promises but this makes a permanent blemish on their track record for me.
Please, PLEASE get rid of the yellow font:eek:
I dont remeber any of their ads saying go read the faq first nor was it on my boxes i purchased
So what you are saying is that you are upset that somebody else other than you has the costume?
You just said you like CO and so obviously, the LTS you bought has served its purpose well.
Your real complaint seems to be that other people can dress up like you in the game. That you spending that 200 dollars for another game entirely was an accomplishment that you could go around and wave in everyone's face.
No, quit twisting my words. I'm upset at how i've been treated as a customer. After the massive hassle this has been, I feel like Cryptic doesn't give a TRIBBLE about me or my purchases since they've already gotten my money.

I don't care what you wish. I don't answer to you. I'm perfectly willing to take this to PM's if Stormshade requests it.
Good for you. You're one of the ones who only wanted the items to be special. I don't have any respect for you anyway. Take it to PMs if you want. At least then we will stop hearing about it from you.

And you're one of those that want what everyone else has. If I was the only one who felt wronged this would have died a long time ago.
My only issue with the C-Store Mega Update is you've chosen to sell only certain bonuses. Some customers have had their exclusives devalued and others have not. You guys really need to comment on this and tell us that you plan on making ALL bonuses available in the near future. Otherwise, you've basically given the middle finger to some players while you have given a warm hug to others.
This. I too would like a response from Cryptic. Why only some pre-order or exclusives and not all?
No, quit twisting my words. I'm upset at how i've been treated as a customer. After the massive hassle this has been, I feel like Cryptic doesn't give a TRIBBLE about me or my purchases since they've already gotten my money.
You're not any different than any other customer. More customers wanted these items then didn't. This time you were in the minority. Next issue you might be the majority. It happens.
And you're one of those that want what everyone else has. If I was the only one who felt wronged this would have died a long time ago.
No I don't want what everyone else has. I already had most of it. I have bought 7 copies of the game. Do you see me complaining they are on the c-store. No. Because other people get to enjoy them. I got to enjoy them for a while before others. Now it is their turn.
And you received nothing else for that $30... no box, no copy of the game, no manual, no referral cards... nothing.
Right.
Actually, with the DDE, it cost more, and that WAS just for the exclusives, because you didn't get ANY of that stuff... (that was only $20 more though). By the way, I meant $20 over the actual selling price of the game at the time, obviously anything included in the standard edition should be counted towards "exclusive" items. And, yes, I can see them selling the pre-order stuff, because there were alot of people who bought from Atari, not realizing they didn't get ANYTHING extra at all with that purchase...
Majority Rule is awesome until one is in the minority. Then they are called a "Special Interest" and must be protected against damages from the Majority by Higher Authority.
Unless they are in the Majority. And then it is simple democracy at work.

Forums don't mean anything? You didn't see it on the box? If you were going based on the box, then you have absolutely no gripe at all. If you waited for the box, then you were not very informed to begin with. Many of us actually did research. The STO website had a FAQ that said the items would be offered in the C-Store. Several Devs posted that these items would most likely be available in the C-Store. I am not sure how much more clear you want. If you feel that "forums don't mean anything," then you have no one to blame, but yourself. The information was out there. The fact that you missed it or chose to ignore it does not change it. You should probably avoid MMOs, if something like this puts a "permanent blemish" on a track record, for you.
No, quit twisting my words. I'm upset at how i've been treated as a customer. After the massive hassle this has been, I feel like Cryptic doesn't give a TRIBBLE about me or my purchases since they've already gotten my money.
That's a load of bull and you know it. If I buy a tv tomorrow that cost me well more than what you paid for an in-game costume, then I certainly have no expectations beyond that which is on the warranty and provided for me by law and receipt of my purchase. I don't expect the tv company to give a TRIBBLE about me beyond the fact that I liked the tv they sold. I don't expect them to care and not offer something just a little different later on down the road.
Sorry, that's business. That's capitalism. That's life.
If you spend on something frivolously, you have no one to blame but yourself.
No I don't want what everyone else has. I already had most of it. I have bought 7 copies of the game. Do you see me complaining they are on the c-store. No. Because other people get to enjoy them. I got to enjoy them for a while before others. Now it is their turn.
Nothing YOU can say will change my mind. All your replies will just make me post more.
You're not any different than any other customer. More customers wanted these items then didn't. This time you were in the minority. Next issue you might be the majority. It happens.
I have to play devils advocate here the have nots always outnumber the haves
You're not any different than any other customer. More customers wanted these items then didn't. This time you were in the minority. Next issue you might be the majority. It happens.
Just because i'm in the minority doesn't mean what happened was right, though.
I mean, honestly, if the world worked off of the majority makes right all the time then it would be a very screwed up place.
I also bet there would have been a much larger outcry if something directly related to the majority of the subs in this game had been offered, like the Borg captain. There may be some cross-over between CO and STO, but it can't be as large as the number of STO LT subs.
As it is I just feel like i've been cheated and jerked around. Is that capitalism, as some people claim? Yes, in some ways. But that doesn't make that right either. I don't have a time machine, and I couldn't look into the future when I made this purchase to know that I was being mislead.
So we should have known to come here and read the faq to buy a videogame? wow
Yea and i think most people do.....some dont, some do somewhat, some study it, some take what they need from it
I can go on on, Cryptic did their part, but as a business model, you know that changing the terms even though they are listed as that......they can be changed....and is an accepted loss of customer satification, legally they are covered and a decision was made to out weight the cost/benefits
Just like the place where I work, our parking lot is a gated area that requires a badge to enter and park....but a notice says that "Security is not responisble for your safety or theft of personal property"
Therefore why have security?
Thats like buying a required insurance policy that says "by signing here we can make changes to this policy at any time and without warning, and you give up your right to adjudicate against us in a court of law if there is any disputes, we will send you in writing any changes made and will take effect even if you before you recieve in writing " and the writing you receive is desguised as junk mail and not clearly communicatied"
I dont know about you, but the EULA is quite a bit for most games, most corps know not to add in the EULA by stating "we can sell your kids if you agree" and if most people read Term and Conditions then the Terms and Conditions would be more complex.....judge dont care how complex a document is, it can be expanded to 1000 pages if need be, if it impacts sales, then it wont be as long

Well first off the world is a screwed up place and for the most part the majority does make right most of the time. I am not saying the rights of the minority shouldn't be respected. They should. However if the good outweights the bad then the majority wins. Cryptic felt the majority benefited more. Next time, you might be in the majority and I might be in the minority. It changes with each issue.
Then why did it cost more than the regular version?
Oh, I can answer that.
The reason why the DDE was more expensive was because you were paying for the convenience of downloading and not having to wait to get it. Atari isn't the only pub that does this. EA does it as well. So do others.

My point was that majority doesn't make right if you're TRIBBLE over a minority in the process. Especially in business terms. MMO's thrive on their reputation, or die by it. Just look at games like SWG and the Matrix Online.

You explained that you literally went out and spent two hundred buckeroos for a game costume.
I dont remeber any of their ads saying go read the faq first nor was it on my boxes i purchased
Then you obviously did not understand the nature of the transaction.

Some people actually do exercise common sense shopping and do their homework before making purchases... I know, hard to believe.

Like I said good for you. It still doesn't change the fact that you refuse to take responsibility for your action and try to put the blame on Cryptic.
All you have done with your ranting is show people that what was important to you is elitism.
Then why did it cost more than the regular version?

FYI, for the MU uniform that came with the CO lifetime subscription, the offer never said "exclusive".
On the other hand, some of the other stuff, like the Borg BO did say "exclusive".
