Mirror Universe Uniforms in C-Store

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I didn't see a thread about this yet in this sub forum, so here goes.

I really want to see the Mirror Universe Uniforms in the c-store! I think they're awesome and they're way too restricted for everybody in the way they are right now. With the TOS uniforms you always had the option to buy the DDE version, but the MUUs are completely unobtainable now, not to mention kinda overpriced for 200 dollars. I'm not much of a superhero, so I would have bought the CO lifetime only for this exclusive, if it was still up that is/ Then again I'm not that rich either to spend 200 dollars just on an extra uniform option in STO. :(

Since the TOS Uniforms are no longer DDE exclusive I feel it's only fair we can get the MUU as well now for everybody. ;)

Pwetty please? :o

Seconded, it's rather stupid to expect people to buy a lifetime sub to an entirely different game many sto fans have zero interest in playing.

Put in the c-store and chances are many people will buy it and you'll make soem easy cash to help off set the sub bleeding.

    Completely agreed.
And if the whiners show up here they should remember they actually paid for the CO lifetime sub, not the uniforms, they were just a "free" extra. :p

Didn't we have this conversation yesterday?

Anyway back when the CO lifetime was offered they specifically said it wouldn't be available as a C-Store item. So more than a few people were forced to plunk down a few hundred bucks on a buggy incomplete unrelated game to get them.

So it would be pretty unfair if after making people spend that much and waiting months to finally get them to have them available after a week or so for a few dollars on the C-Store. It would be a very shabby way to treat those who took an incredible leap of faith with Cryptic. (Given Champions' state at the time and that no one even saw STO yet)

I agree, Silveressa, it was a pretty stupid way to sell them. But it was the route they chose and they should honor the spirit of what they said at the time.

But as a vet reward is a little more fair. That would mean that either route someone went to get it, they had to make a bit of an investment into the longevity of the game. So I'd support that.

I've spent over 400 dollars on the game so far, but I didn't get a lifetime CO sub. How much farther do you want me to leap? :p

It's not just CO people that paid a lot of money and for them it was a bonus for a different game. I really do think that the majority of the people who bought a CO lifetime membership did it because they wanted to play CO. :)

Wouldn't be the first time it happened, but this time it'd actually make me happy if that happened. ;)

I know where you're coming from though and I don't suggest it needs to be up in the c-store like tomorrow (although I would prefer that) but if they'd give it like 1,5 month extra or so then I think they made us wait long enough...
I mean, I've been wanting these mirror universe uniforms ever since I found out about them, which was in the last week of closed beta and I had to find out that it was completely impossible for me to get them. I don't see any fairness in that either, hence the request here.

People that already have those uniforms just save out on the money this way and people that don't have them have to cash out some extra money. For all I care the ask 1000 Cryptic Points for them, so it's not *that* cheap either.

For that matter, I'm also for putting the playable Borg race up in the store. I know it's supposed to be a lifetime membership goodie for us guys, but seriously, I don't really care about them so much that I want other people to miss out of the fun of playing a Borg. I think they deserve to play Borg just as much as I do. I mostly got my lifetime membership because I hope to save out money in the end with the subscription fees.

I'm gonna guess you didn't actually play CO pre-launch when the LT offer was made. ;)

I paid out that money like last August or so and only finally got the uniforms a week ago. Just to put the waiting part in perspective a little. Money spent last year, and not at a convenient 'tax return' time. Waiting after the money was spent.

They were a little less specific about the Borg offer, so I wouldn't be terribly upset if it went on the C-store. I at least got 4-5 months on that. I've been actually in favor of them giving it out to all Lifetimers, not just the pre-order ones.

Don't get me wrong, I think I have a better understanding than anyone how badly people want them. Which is why I went out of my way to get additional clarification back when the offer was made.

I think I'm confused. I know you can still buy an LTS for Star Trek. But I thought Champions' LTS was limited time only.

And I do think the STO Mirror Universe bonus was definitely a limited time only reward for the LTS.

But I could be wrong on all counts or only part of that stuff.

    So ...

Can you still buy an LTS to Champions?

If so, does it come with the Mirror Universe uniform special?

I was not aware you could or it would.

The Champions LTS package was only offered pre Champions launch and is no longer available. The package was heavily promoted at the time as 'get it now or never.' They oversold so many due to the MU bit, that they tried to stop selling them early but eventually relented. Which was followed by many attempting to get their money back after the infamous launch day patch fiasco.

Some goofy moments in Cryptic History.

    Indeed they were.

    :)

Glad to know I wasn't losing my marbles either. I thought I might have missed something completely. Or that they went back and re-offered it after I left.

I don't miss champions online. One bit. But the more time that passes the more I realize they may have actually improved it. Until I get updates from friends.

    Heh.

To lend support to this point, I would like to mention that ... in my time with the game ... I lost count of how many lifers in CO would preface or end a post with the caveat that ... "The only reason I even bought this sub was for Star Trek" ... and would cite beta access and/or the MU uniforms.

Many many many lifetimers would post that they were only killing time until Star Trek.

And when they didn't get their beta key right from the get-go ... the Champions forums became assaulted with Star Trek complaints.

So Personae makes a very strong point. The Star Trek marketing gimmick worked with Champions.

Granted, a lot of us who did play Champions played it because we liked Superheroes, liked Cryptic's prior superhero game, liked the Champions RPG, or a combination of all three.

But ... a lot of those folks were driven mad by the development evolution that game took.

    Heh.

I've heard the game got some improvements around February of this year. I wouldn't know. 2 weeks of having my main character stuck in one zone unable to free him killed my desire to log into the game. So I quietly left it. No rant. No rage. No I Quit thread. Just an introspective "well, if I can't play my guy, why am I paying for the game?" followed up by a a cancellation.

As a double-lifer, I would prefer to see at least something different about any MU uni release.

MU from other eras, TOS MU that does not include the Spock top (so, the highly requested Kirk sleeveless), and the men's knee-high boots (again, kirk, but also several others from TOS MU)...

There are plenty of MU items I would have no issue with becoming available to Joe Average.

But try to keep some perspective on the value of reward - leave at least something (the Spock top) sacred - Feel free to get MU, but at least reserve SOMETHING for the CO LTSers only.

I agree. It was one of the reasons I have the lifetime to CO...well..that and I like CO. The new content they added in Feb was awesome and what is about to come out looks fun as well.

There are reasons for certain perks... certain perks require certain sacrifices. I paid for mine...

So, if you want the same perk.. Fork out the cash.

I am tired of people whining about perks that other people have, that they PAID for...

If you wanted it that bad,.. then you should have paid for it.

Sorry... but socialism in games is not fun.

Other things will be out in the future. I am sure that the AGT Enterprise for the RAF program would be cool too. I just don't have 5 people to invite. Should I get the AGT because somebody else took the effort to get it when I don't want to/am unable to? I am not going to cry about it. Other options will present themselves later.

The six month mark is more than enough time to enjoy pre-order perks exclusively as a token of customer appreciation. They all should be made available as Veterans' Benefits or C-Store items by then.

Any problem with that I'd chalk up to some under-developed emotional need to feel special by depriving or excluding others.

I've both CO and STO pre-launch Lifetime subscriptions and I bought the DDE, so I've several of the perks in question.

As a owner of MU uniforms I would not mind if they are made non-exclusive to the CO Offer. However anyone wanting the uniforms should show equal investment to get them. For a veteran reward, that would be around 400 Days Subscribed. Which may mean 500 days since there's already set rewards for 400.

I know those of you who want this costume set *now* don't like that but it's only fair to those who paid early to get access to them. You did have the opportunity to get them when it was initially offered.

Something similar should be done for the Galaxy-X. If you want it now hit the streets and snake oil 5 people into subbing. Otherwise keep subscribing for a year and you'll earn it.

Is this just indicative of the "me generation?" I've come to accept that if something is offered as an exclusive and has strings attached to get, that's what needs to be done in order to get said item. I don't look at the hoops and say "I'm not doing that. I know! I'll just demand that Cryptic makes it available to me in a different way that's more reasonable for me!" I don't complain when I miss out on something offered in a Collector's Edition because I didn't want to pay for it.

The trouble is Cryptic loses credibility if it offers an exclusive later on. Why buy a LTS in the time frame given in order to get a playable Borg if you can just buy it in the C-store at a later date? They wouldn't be doing themselves any favors by doing that. It would hurt their business because no one would participate in the promotions.

I think a better compromise is to offer a similar but different item in the C-store. Mirror Universe uniforms from a different show like Enterprise I think would satisfy a lot of folks and maintain the integrity of the original offer.
