You know what... heres a great way to have a real laugh with this promotion.

Get 5 people to subscribe = Get Galaxy-X

Player only has the Galaxy-X as long as those 5 REMAIN active.

If they leave / become in-active - Galaxy-X Removed from player

Yeah... those folks that go and cheat to buy it for themselves will have to maintain 5 seperate accounts to keep the Galaxy-X in their inventory thus providing Cryptic a SUSTAINED income for development.

    6x$20 a month, every month = $120

    DO IT CRYPTIC !!!!

Now there's an impossible task. It's going to be a challenge just to get 5 people to subscribe for a month, let alone keeping them indefinitely.

Hey maybe this will catch on, next time you buy gas or groceries you can pump a few others ppls gas and start bagging groceries for other customers.
Is this your first MMO? If not you should know that they all have similar RAF programs. I don't currently play WoW. You should ask Zoot if he's seen anyone flying around on the X-53 rocket they offer to their fans who bring in new subscriptions. :)

Your arguments against the C-Store aside, if you want to improve the game you play you sometimes need to put in a little effort. If you don't want the item then it doesn't matter to you anyway, but if you do then you actually need to work for it.

lol everyone has a chance to get it, followed by a disclaimer saying who cant.

That fails on logically on so many levels.

You misread what he said. He said that everybody has a chance to get it, and then followed by saying that he doesn't understand why people are saying that you can't get it. His "disclaimer" was to include the only people who would have trouble legally obtaining it due to the laws of the country, i.e. Denmark (speaking of which, is this game even sold in Denmark? Honest question really, I know there are clients for Germany and whatnot but I don't know about Denmark)

The difference is that in WoW they have a more realistic goal of recruiting one friend, for 90 days, rather than 5 friends for 60 days.

Also, the rocket mount is basically cosmetic/cool as opposed to the Galaxy X, which will actually differ in tangible ways from any other ships that are available, and possibly give a noticeable in game advantage (or not, we really don't know until it's been revealed).

The program itself is a good business move for MMOs in general. Extenuating circumstances might cause it to do better or worse than others, but if it was a failing model then nobody would be doing it anymore.....

That's a relatively stupid reply and shows very little understanding about how businesses work. Does Burger King, Wendy's and Carver's all sell french fries? Yes. Why? Because McDonalds does. Business copy the successful aspects of other businesses and is played out in every aspect of the retail environment.

if EVERYONE can get is there is no disclaimer, admitting ppl who arent eligiible means EVERYONE cant get it. As they clearly also made a point of naming those that CANT.

And why should someone in Sweden or some other country be penalized in a game because of their location? when the Reward given can be given to EVERYONE if they change the variables and make it less restrictive.

Just about every business in existence on this planet uses some form of "word of mouth" advertising by offering incentives to existing customers. It's part of an overall marketing strategy. It costs the business less in terms of funds than placing ads in papers/magazines, TV commercials, billboards etc.

Those savings can go toward things like, you know, adding to their product to make customers happy?

So Cryptic (an American company) or any other business from a foreign country for that matter should go and change the sovereign laws in Denmark or Sweden or whatever... gotcha. ;)

It may be a stupid reply but thats because you arent to bright and havent thought this through.

Let me inform you of something Mr genius, they dont sell fried because ALL the others do. They sell fries because customers want them, they are a high volume sales item, brings revenue from ppl who also buy other items with their fries.

Only a Stupid business will say, lets sell them cause everyone else does. And only a stupid person who cant see things more than as simple variables would think so.

I don't think you understand international laws and business practices. As for the disclaimer, he had it in there so that somebody wouldn't be a smartass and come along to correct him with a detail like that.

wouldnt it be easier for Cryptic to make the rewards not restrictive excluding countries and laws and just make it easier so AL their customers CAN get it, like making it C-store item or a veteran reward,. high class loot object, and a hundreds of others ways to get it in the game.

But no you suggest changing a countries LAWS is the ways to go versus changing one sentence of requirements. Sad argument. very sad.

We're not being trolls nor are we being insulting, and if I have been insulting please feel free to point it out. Our "arguments" over the past few posts have been in effort to help you understand why a certain comment was stated the way it was.

You're the one who is taking offense and being a troll about it :(

Because they way it USE to work is when they made a new item for the game it went INTO the game as CONTENT.

Now these items are "SPECIAL" items that are used to turn you all into spamming advertisingshills, while at the same time paying them money for the right to be a tool.

Yes, WoW's bonus thingy for recruiting friends is a taxi to carry them around in so they can go to the fridge or take a bio-break while you pilot to wherever. It actually strikes me as extremely appropriate.

    STO's 5-person bonus is a special way to pew-pew.

Yep, in other words: "We read your feedback, we don't care, we want the players who purchased multiple copies of the game for all the preorder items at launch, to go and purchase 5 more new copies and sub those accounts for the next 31 days. We do love your feedback and we have more C-Store items on the way.....I mean content!"

I've spent about an hour and a half this week on these boards reading your whining and posting a few responses. I've spent about 20 hours this week visiting people in the hospital and nursing homes. I do follow my own advice. How's your ratio?

If I worked for Cryptic, I'd frankly shut down the message boards. These are supposed to be here for people to contribute in a positive way, and to help build a community to support each other, and the game. But all it is is a venue for the maldjusted to whine, complain, and drag the game and other players down into misery with them. It does love company after all. Now, off to enjoy my life. I'll probably check in again next week, because hope springs eternal.

I have to agree with this. I think one of the best things Cryptic could do is shut down the message boards. It's becoming apparent that the largest liability to this game's long-term success is a whiny, egotistical contingent of players that have no aversions to saying any manner of ridiculous and baseless TRIBBLE about the game, almost in a dedicated attempt to shut the game down out of spite.

First... I like your avatar :)

Second, I think it is more logical to assume that they put it in the sub-forum C-store and promotions so that developers from that department can know that the users are talking about it.

Third- Your logic that "they don't care" is a classic knee-jerk reaction.

    Well let's see.

    - They didn't even consider changing their minds.
    - They're going ahead as planned while multiple players are gearing up to send referrals... to themselves
    - They buried all topics related to this in a subforum below a ton of other subforums

I believe this aptly shows they don't care.

Its nearly impoosible to get 5 players into that actual game... not enough content, no wow-effect...
