That would be terrible.....
As a Klingon player i would be........ very demoralised if this occurs.
Typical Starfleet player mentality.........they want it all.
I do mainly Klingon PvP myself. I've played both, and I can wipe out Federation players with ease as a Klingon, but have to not only work myself very hard, but have to be part of a good team to win as a Federation player. Face the fact, Fed vs Klg PvP is currently unbalanced. One of the many things causing this is the Klingon's ability to run and cloak, and the ability to pick off Federation players that respawn away from the group. Klingons don't have to worry about the Feds doing either, since they can't cloak. Currently, it takes a very balanced Federation group to take out a random, unbalanced Klingon group, and it is nigh on impossible for even a balanced Federation team to beat a balanced Klingon team. I'm just stating my observations from doing PvP in both factions and these opinions have been reiterated by hundreds of other players, Federation and Klingon alike.

Are you saying that Klingon players see the solution to this supposed issue by supplying cloaking devices to Starfleet?
If thats what your saying, its just not true.
Dstahl has said in this thread that the ship would be part of a new Tier of upgraded Tier 4 ships, that would be released later on to all players. He then went on to say in another thread that the new Tier would be 51-60.
He said that there would be a similar ship, yes, but he also said that it would lack the super cannon and the cloak. The Galaxy X itself is tier 5, however, whatever tier these upgraded tier 4 ships are to be remains to be seen.

Overpowered Tier 5 or Tier 6, it makes no difference, it's still unbalanced whichever way you look at it.

Whenever a player claims to mainly PVP as the class in which he is asking for a nerf, I consider it nothing but a trojan horse. This post amuses me.
I, who solely PVP as a Klingon, have found that the matches are usually a flip of a coin when it comes to PUGs over which side is better...and that better team will generally dominate in a painfully one-sided match, with the losing side screaming for nerfs. That seems to indicate a degree of balance in my book.
In the rare circumstances where you have a pre-made Klingon team versus a pre-made Fed team, the matches have usually been very close, with the wins going one way or the other.
But: I'm more than happy to give the Federation our cloaks if we completely balance hulls and shields as well..
In fact...let's just make all the ships complete duplicates of one another, by class, to make absolutely certain we have balance and just differentiate with skins.
/sarcasm off
I now return you to the original topic...
Can we have a Klingon ship as part of the referral program as well...?
Are you saying that Klingon players see the solution to this supposed issue by supplying cloaking devices to Starfleet?
If thats what your saying, its just not true.
I have seen many think that it is only fair for the Federation to have cloaking technology as well. Some may oppose it, but I see no other way to counteract those two Klingon abilities. People complained about the Big 3 changes in 1.1, but that doesn't change the fact that they were greatly needed. The devs can't just avoid balancing PvP due to some whining Klingons. People will always oppose change, but they usually grow to accept it soon after it happens, not always, but often.
The only think holding Starfleet back from cloaking technology is a treaty that might as well be null and void due to some of the underhanded things both the Klingons and Romulans have done.
I agree that Federation cloaking is greatly needed. However, it would be wrong to give it only to a select handful of lucky players. It needs to be added to all ships.
Well that's what I get for leaving a thread for a while; it explodes for a dozen or so pages.
Anyway, to respond to the above.....no. Seeing as how Federation ships are more versatile and have more HP, it would not balance it out, it would make it unbalanced in favor of the Feds, rather than the asymmetric balance we have now. What's more is that PvP would become an increasingly boring affair with both sides running around cloaked, looking for the sucker/tank to try and alpha down.
If one ship that you're not going to see very often has it as a special ability, then maybe. But faction wide, that gets a massive no from me.
As for the original topic, my opinion has not changed, it's fine the way it is.

Just kidding. Why waste my typing.

As I said before, I've done about 100 Klingon PvP matches, and maybe half that many as a Federation player. As far as ratios go, I have won around 90% of my matches as a Klingon player, while I've only won about 40 % as a Federation player. It is not my playing that is affecting the outcome, as I usually place 1st or 2nd on my team, regardless of what faction I play as. My observations from those games, both as a Klingon player and as a Federation player, suggest that a large number of the Klingon's kills, come from picking off lone Federation players that respawn away from the safety of the group, and a large number of lost Klingon deaths, come from Klingon players doing the Evasive Maneuver out of range and cloak technique. I see no other way to counter-act these Klingon tactics, other than to make those same tactics accessible to Federation players.
And you're right that Klingon players shouldn't have their hull hp raised to balance the addition of Federation cloaking, as this would make them nearly identical to Federation ships, other than the slightly more forward facing weapon's configuration. Instead, something new needs to be added to balance the addition of Federation cloaking, perhaps a slightly higher damage modifier to better represent their roles as paper cannons.
All that being said, this has gotten off-topic, so it's time to stop discussing this in this thread. I'm going to go ahead and get of now. Talk to you all tomorrow maybe.
They're giving away the first ever passenger flying mount for referrals. That's a unique mechanic.
And somehow, there's barely a peep about it from their gang of whiners.
Difference is, AFAIK, you only need to refer one person to get this...and as Squidheadjax said, it's a flying taxi. Other than letting multiple people fly together, it does nothing else. It doesn't affect combat, or have any special powers beyond being a taxi. And it's available for 1 referral, not 5. I stand by the opinion that the AGT Gal-X should never have been a referral reward, the Cryptic Points were more than enough since they actually have monetary value. The program should have been like the CO system, which offers no special powers/costumes as rewards.
Not much you can do about that now Artemus since the program is now only hours away from going live.
I realize that, but it doesn't make me any less irked by it. I did at least propose a possible solution, maybe they'll implement something like that to allow it be earned through an in-game mechanic. As I said, it really is more than is necessary to get people to refer the game, the CP should have been enough. Oh well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I guess they already got my 300+ bucks, so my opinion is no longer valid. And I can't really ragequit, seen as I am a lifer. I'll still play, but this issue certainly has damaged my faith in Cryptic and it's credibility with me as a company. I was one of the ones defending the game before.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a7l20sa8TA skip to 5:26 and give ear to Christopher from Earth's question and Jacks response. This all has to do with balance for hardcore and casual players. Sure the Galaxy-X controversy is not the same as a 15 year old grinding 80 hours a week but even a 15 year old grinding 80 hours a week would be hard pressed to keep up with any socially adept extrovert or a 40 year old with too much expendable income.
Destahl said the cannon has a very narrow field of fire, I hope so because the Galaxy-X shown on All Good Things fired straight ahead with zero deflection like the Yamato's Wave Motion Gun in Star Blazers. Destahl also said they are putting it on a cruiser which turns slow that is good but cruisers, especially cruisers piloted by engineers, turn faster now that turning has been moved to engines.
If it winds up like the Romulan ship from ST Nemesis, (that I have seen in DSEs), and shooting the Star Blazer-esque "Wave Motion Gun" is just as suicidal then I am fine with the 5 active account RAF, (with a caveat that the Galaxy-X's cloak is no more detectable than twice the best possible min/maxed version of current Mask Energy Systems skill). If on the other hand the Galaxy-X can line up and hit multiple one shot kills with relative impunity from a single shot STO will have problems.
You made promises Jack, sad thing is some of us have been loyal enough to remember them.
What really pushes my buttons the wrong way now is the fact that an elite group of players will be getting unique gameplay mechanics that will make the game unfair for others. Terrible decision Cryptic. Before this, I had thought Cryptic's CEO was a nice guy, since he was one of the two main people at Cryptic fighting for Open PvP zones, but now, I've lost all faith in him, and if Cryptic were democratic at all, I'd probably call for his impeachment over this.
If it's any consolation.... the moment a Galaxy-X decloaks in PvP, justifiably angry Klingons will descend upon it like locusts, and blow it so full of holes that it shall henceforth be christened 'Torpedo Magnet.' ^_^
And I get the impression that more than a few people Fed-side will let it happen.
ETA: Which is, now that I think about it... kind of depressing, really.
Is there any particular reason why you posted this same post in two different thread?
Well I could say because my Mom drove the short bus. She did! She even bought it from the school district she once drove for. It was a '66 Chevy C-10 panel that we christened Old Yeller. I was not paying attention to what thread I posted that in and I promised that I would do it here first. Sorry for the duplicate post.
I -seriously- doubt it'll be anywhere near as powerful as a Wave Motion Gun, or even on the level of, say, the Lightning Gun/Main Gun from Babylon 5. The fact it can hit multiple targets will probably limit its damage to a certain amount and the arc of fire will likely make it useable only as an opening volley. You might be able to take out a PvE BoP with it in one shot on normal difficulty but above that you'd likely only knock down or halve the shields on a larger ship. I'd probably give it a fairly long recharge time, maybe something on par with the Tri-Cobalt torpedoes, likely a bit longer.

If the Galaxy-X is that way then there is allot less for the anti-RAF folk to complain about in my opinion. Understand I am not against the RAF, I am not against player exclusives, I am only opposed a ship with special abilities that could unbalance the game mechanics. Thank you for your polite reasonable response.

Not a problem, you're welcome. Truthfully, I think that to balance out the Galaxy-X, as I stated in another thread it should be kept at general Tier 4 settings as far as hull, crew and other general stats while retaining its cannon and cloak. This would give it more tactical options to play with while balancing it against other Tier 5 ships by making it less able to take a pounding. It sounds like a nice trade in my opinion.

It's over. The decision has been made, and finalized. The community has lost on this one.
The one who will be losing is Cryptic. I seen people who rage quit with every one of these "offer" fiaskos and many others like myself are very bored with the game. Regardless of the game staying around or not its grand vision to be a Star Trek gathering point is long lost. And that is the only battle that should matter...
I've already worked hard to get freinds playing this game... not awesome
there should atleast be a way for people who have already got people in game before this to get credit and subsquent rewards.
What I'm more concerned about are us lifers who didn't get any reward for having a lifetime sub. We've invested £250 in the game (220 for sub, 30 for game approx). That's just under 1/4 of my pay for a month. That sort-of thing doesn't grow on trees.
Cryptic need to be careful. A lot of ST:O players aren't lifers. And for good reason. For us who've taken the leap of financial faith, could we at least have some bonus?
but regarding the ship. They could have it as a C-Store item, but really expensive.

Sorry, Cryptic didn't link any retail keys to the generated trial keys. This tech would have required logfiles, which were not invented in the 20th century and never used in any MMO account management ever before.
So bad luck. Buy a lifetime, buy three retails to get your favorite Star Trek Uniforms, buy additional ships in the c-store and then shut up and go away from the forums. If you reached this point, you DO NOT DESERVE ANYTHING any more. We already have your money now. More money any other MMO customer died pay to other MMO within lousy four months. You want more?
Go away and get us another five idiots we can suck off some money. If you succeed, we will give you the best ship in our game. If we like to.

C'mon, us Lifers got HUGE rewards, such as the super game changing Captain's Table, the blue forum title, a Borg main character with super awesome abilities that make it better than all other species, and last but not least, some super incredible costume pieces that make our characters 200X better than all others. What more could you possibly want for shelling out $300+ USD on a game before you had any idea how good it was going to really be?
/sarcasm off
Anyways, as Prower said, it seems its all for not at this point, as Dstahl has, from his posts elsewhere, made it abundantly clear that he and management think all this anger is kind of funny and that it will remain exclusive. Oh well. Just another crack in Cryptic's credibility.

One way or the other, hatred of Cryptic won't solve anything. They made their decision and don't want the change it and that's their choice as a company whether subscribers feel it for good or for ill. Some players obviously aren't happy with it, some are and some are on the fence. The management was made aware of the situation and whatever they decide to do in the future is their choice. You guys put up a good fight and got noticed, whether that changes anything or not remains to be seen but for what it's worth you guys weren't ignored. Dstahl went to bat for you on some level and so you should be proud of that much.
All of this complaining is reminding me of Star Wars Galaxies. Originally Sony had said that Jedi would be rare and only for those that devoted a lot of hard work to try to find out how to unlock one. Then, they released the holocrons, followed by the camp in Dathomir, and finally the NGE. After that we had Jedi running everywhere because people were whining about how they wanted to play as Jedi without putting all the work into it.
It's the same sense of entitlement that I'm getting from all these "we want the Galaxy-X" posts.

I feel like such a sucker for buying a lifetime sub from Cryptic. Never, ever again. I sure as hell will never even sub to a Cryptic game again, not even free to play. i won't condescend to even downloading any further nickel and dime TRIBBLE fests from this company.
I will rejoice when I read the eventual news of Cryptic's being closed down. That's what you deserve when you scheme to nickel and dime people to death like conmen rather than actually attempting to create a good product, maintain it with quality, and LISTEN TO YOUR DAMN CUSTOMER BASE. Not one damn decision by Cryptic has taken into account the overwhelmingly obvious majority of the community's wants and desires, and that is why they are now a pariah. I seriously doubt they get even half the buys on launch of their new MMO than they did with CO and STO.

And yet even post NGE SWG is ten times better than this or CO, with far more content. Oh, and here's a free clue to you Mr. Freud, getting nickel and dimed to death makes most people angry, especially after they have already paid Cryptic FAR MORE than this lousy pos is worth.

there should atleast be a way for people who have already got people in game before this to get credit and subsquent rewards.
