Lol.... you vote NO but your signature says YES.

See, this is why the poll is invalid... the question asked is wrong. :P

Much as I would love any of my random "server not responding" deaths to penalize me harshly, i'll slap a NO into this "poll"

Unfortunately, a yes or no answer isn't sufficient, because some people have strange ideas about what is a "death penalty" and what is a sensible respawn mechanic.

I vote NO to any loss of character resources or any lasting debuffs.

It is critical, however, that spawns be reset to full strength upon solo death or group wipe and that respawn be suppressed while grouped until the whole group wipes. This obviously requires the addition of a 'rez' mechanic to space and having our ships be disabled first rather than exploding automatically.

Big NONO!!! Although I liked the things SquidheadJax wrote. And if they did the PVP more like it is in Pirates of the Burning Sea, with ship not dying in 3 seconds in PVP I would be more for some sort of loss of ship costs etc.

If my only choice is "yes" or "no," then it's "no" for me.

Too bad this is such a polarized issue - some good ideas from both camps are getting swept under.

yes, but just when we´re not forced into parties where players are splitting up, ignoring your communication and do what they want but not whats necessary for the situation.

And no penalty for pvp ofc.

    No.

They are are pointless exercise in the study of how much punishment players are willing to tolerate and promote conservative 'never take risks' mentality.

    Short answer NO

    Long Answer
Technically there is a DP. you have to wait to respond. Granted it's not the usual DP.

Oh if DP gets added the Klingons will have nothing to do cause the feds wont play PVP at that point.

Nah. I don't need one anyway.

    Encounters should probably reset though.

We need something more of a death penalty than a time out. I'm not for item degradation, but maybe a reduced crew or limited power supplies until you visit a starbase. In general combat needs something to force players to want to use tactics. As it is now, most people just zerg in and pew pew.

However, PvP should not have a death penalty.

PvE = Short term NO. Maybe YES once the bugs are worked out.
PvP = Defiantly NOOOOO. With the unbalanced team system and the ganking it would make more players quit (and we don't need that at the moment).

No. But I don't care if there is one that makes the game fun.

Please no corpse runs to get all my crew and items back.

My answer would be: It depends. Certainly a sense of risk, and a deterrant to people impulse-zerging into battle, etc, would be useful. But I don't like annoying death penalties that are nothing but time-sinks, or set-backs.

    Complex issue.
