POLL: Death Penalty

I want to gather numbers from the forums. Not that this will reflect the true population's preference. So, answer only YES or NO to the following question...

Do you want a Death Penalty? YES or NO.

Please do not add comments to prevent the thread from becoming another discussion group.

Do not vote more than once, if you do... I will just remove your vote entirely. I will let this collect data for 10 days and post the results at the end.

I will add this to stop the posts that continue to question the poll:
1) I know the poll is not official, we all know that.
2) I also know the information does not reflect the majority opinion of all players. However, it will reflect the majority opinion of those who frequent the forums. And the collection of this data will provide an interesting insight into this groups opinion of DP.
3) If you wish to discuss the merits of this poll, start another thread. This thread exists ONLY to determine who wants or does not want a death penalty. If the majority show an interest in DP, I will establish another one on choices. If I provided choices, it would sway the vote one way or another.

    A true poll would cover all players and not just a small percentage that use the forums....

    Plus a simple yes or no answer really isn't valid in the first place....so nyah.

    Poll's a shame, forum posters do not reflect a balanced sampling of the game base.

    If cryptic allowed one vote per accont per IP that would at least be as close to valid as possible.

    , but the poll in itself is useless because there is a big difference between the possible death penalties.

    YES this game definitely needs a death penalty, but no this game definitely does not need a harsh death penalty or one where you lose BOs or ships forever.

    As I said in the other thread, if you want to create a valid poll you have to specify what kind of death penalty.

    Many people think a death penalty involves losing BOs or XP, but THAT IS NOT TRUE. A DP can mean reset of encounters you died at or mission rest or something else.

    STO already has a DP, we are only trying to make it a little bit more meaningful.

    Anyway, to the invalid question, YES.

    Yes you could make a easy mode for the how do not want it. Keep in mind if you did you need to scale the rewards so the Death Penalty run would be worth more for no other reason as it would take a lot more time to do. Have a Accolade for people that did the hard mode as well. For that fact a hole Sector with a nice title have stack with other sectors so if you did them all you got super title or special reward like a pet. Now that is content.

    Yes, maybe just make our regenerative crewmen... less regenitable? :cool:

    People would think twice about being caught by an exploding ship's kaboom if the crew takes 10x as long to be fully active again.

    If you're going to force the issue, I'll have to vote NO

    I'm usually in favor of death penalties, but it's so easy to die in this game through no fault of your own that, until that's fixed, I think it best not to have a death penalty.

    Every time I go into an encounter instance and get dropped RIGHT in the middle of an enemy fleet and die in 10 seconds I'm glad there's no death penalty.

    At the end of the day, while this does not include those who don't view the forums you have to take your information from somewhere in the end. Otherwise you end up guessing instead of having at least SOME basis on facts.
