I command the USS Sanders. Named for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, the only socialist in the current US government. I predict he'll be thought of as a man way ahead of his time. A fore-bearer.

    U.SS. Liberator

Only the best ship off all times, it can be seen in the British SCFI show Blake's 7.
The UK version of Star Trek with a twist the good guys are the outlaws and the Federation is evil.

To add distinctiveness to my ships I usually add a historical US Navy designation to the back of the ship's name.

Try it out - if your ship name is reasonably short you can type in the USN registry like this - "Lexington CA-16" which looks cool when flying in a team. Like the ship has a short "Omega Force Warship Registration" in addition to its Starfleet "NCC" one.

I'm flying the USS Lexington (CA-16) now, and the next ship I have in line for outfitting is the USS Montana (BB-67) which could be either a tactical Odyssey or a DN.

I usually take creative liberties such as reassigning Lexington to take the CA designation, as the original Lexington of the early 20th Century was a cruiser (CA) to carrier (CV) conversion. In this case I used CV-16's (The Essex class's) number instead of the correct CV-2 cruiser conversion to maintain that I have a generic assault cruiser, not a class-leading one.

USS Odyssey - long before I started playing STO, I always imagined myself in command of an Intrepid-class starship bearing that name.

Alas, there already exists a fairly well-known fan series by the same name, as well as the in-game Odyssey class.

Oh, when I was a kid I was in a bad spot where elementary school teachers didn’t want kids from poor families in school and especially so if you were pudgy too. They’d try to beat and bully you out and use the other kids to help. What was it, the summer after first grade maybe? Like 1979.

I stumbled on this beat up old paperback with a picture of a cool spaceship on the cover. Wanting desperately to be anywhere else, yet not wanting to give up hope on having a future, it attracted me. So it became mine and I used it to learn how to put the alphabet together into words and “read.”

It was titled POLARIS and chronicled the adventure of the United Space Republic ship of the same name under the command of Captain Alexander Traynor. I am not sure that the author, Sheldon Perkins, ever wrote another book. However, it let me go somewhere else and it helped me want to read.

I found a copy in good condition from an online used bookstore a couple of years ago. I keep it on my shelf.

So, now you know why my ship is named the USS POLARIS.

-Fed main has the three ships he uses.

U.S.S. Loony Luna: the Luna variant named after Princess Luna.

U.S.S. Tacitus: named for the orb of knowledge in Command & Conquer.

U.S.S. Iroquois: named for the HMCS Iroquois which my brother serves on.

-Fed alt's ships are simply the U.S.S. Catnip and U.S.S. Catnap because she's a cat.

    -Klink main has only two.

I.K.S. Serpentine, named for a ship in a story of mine that the character she's based on flies.

I.K.S. Arkonos, named for another character in said little story.

-Klink alt's ships, from beginning ship to current ships, were named after Scarmilogne, Cagnazzo, Barbaricca and Rubicante, and his second main ship is the I.K.S. Golbeza. Yay for FF references.

My ship is the USS Athena. I picked it a) because of my love of Greek mythology. And b) because Athena represendts the Godess of Wisdom and War, which is fitting on how I play my captian. The Athena is a recon sciene vessel, so it has a strong science base with a. His tacical lean. Also, I role play Captain Faln as questioning his role as a scienctist within a war. I think this ship embodies this conflict.

    Also... FIRST POST!

U.S.S Carlskrona - currently the largest vessel in the Royal Swedish Navy. Named after the Swedish naval city of Karlskrona. Initially a minelayer/deminer, but refitted into an Ocean patrol vessel (OPV). Translated directly as "the Crown of king Charles." Note: Karl in Swedish = Charles in English.
U.S.S Litany of Fury - battle barge of the Blood Ravens (Warhammer 40 000).
U.S.S Hammer - from the Matrix.

Haha, I don't remember the other ones..

Here we go with my names:

U.S.S. Socrates- Named for the famous Greek Philosopher. Other ships of my first character (A science officer0 include the U.S.S. Plato (a Vulcan D'kyr Vessel) and the U.S.S Archimedes (Advanced Escort)

U.S.S. Hadrian (Excelsior Cruiser)-Named after the Roman Emperor, third of the five good Emperors of the Pax Romana (Roman Peace). Other cruiser I had included the U.S.S Nerva (TOS Constitution) and the U.S.S. Trajan (Cruiser Refit)

    Now for the Klingons:

I.K.S. Masamune- named after the mythical sword, which befits the Captain's attitude and the ship (a Qin Heavy Raptor)

I.K.S. Sugh'da- random name because the game won't let me name it the I.K.S. Martok (yet allowed me to name my Vorcha the Gowron and my K'tinga the Lord Kruge, go figure). Need to find another Klingon Chancellor to rename the ship (not J'mpok)

And now to add an update:

The Sugh'da had it's name changed to the I.K.S K'mpec named after another Klingon Chancellor of TNG. My Bortas Command Cruiser is now named the I.K.S. M'rek after a Chancellor in the 22nd century (after Gorkon and Azetbur were rejected by the game)

Well I fly a tactical Odyssey-Class vessel so I called my ship: U.S.S. Achilles.

Achilles is a half-god heroe from Homers greek llias saga. Odyssey sounds like Odysseus who is another heroe from Homers saga. So the way I see it it fits.

    For my character name:
In Germany we have a lottery called "Lotto". To win you need 6 numbers out of 49 so I called my female liberated borg: "Six of Fourtynine" or short version "Six".

I have just started playing and have 2 ships

USS Yamoto is my Miranda class vessel and I named it after the WWII battleship which also was a major plot point for StarBlazers or Space Battleship Yamato in Japan.

USS Imperial Terran is my Constitution class vessel. I am a huge Mirror Universe fan so since I cannot name my ship ISS i used this. I think other ships will be famous warships and or war gods or goddess. I am thinking of Havoc or Mars for my next ship. I was thinking of Potemkin but it was used in TOS.

Most recent ship U.S.S. Avenger ... because I love the Avengers (Marvel Comics). And yes, from way back. Not just because of the movie. But all the hype lately did bring it to my attention and the name seemed perfect for a Defiant class ship.

    U.S.S. Polaris, NCC-93176-C

'Polaris' is known as The North Star. It was the first star I ever saw through a telescope in Astronomy II B in High School.

NCC-91376-C '13' = My personal lucky number. '76' Year I was born. The '9' is pre registered by the game. And the 'C' is because this is my third ship.

U.S.S. DarkFyre. A Miranda class. Named after a character of mine from another forum. In the context of STO, DarkFyre is the ambassador of my character's planet, and so a ship was named after him.

U.S.S. DarkFyre - A. Constitution class. Decomissioned the Miranda so I could name this one with the A prefix, not realising I could not buy another Miranda. D'oh! Storywise, the original DarkFyre exploded rather spectacularly in Kerrat in a Borg ambush.

U.S.S. Valhalla. Akira class. Named after the Norse afterlife.

U.S.S. Chicago. Named after the city. When I was little, I pretended my Enterprise D toy was my own ship, the Chicago, and had my own adventures. It seemed logical when I got a galaxy class here to name it after that ship and fullfill that fantasy as close as I would ever get.

U.S.S. Sentinel. Named after Sentinel Prime from Transformers, and the Sentinel from the star trek game Invasion. Has the same registry as the Invasion Sentinel (but I did have to put a 9 in front) and carries a C (since the Invasion Sentinel carried a B). Like her predecessor, she is a Sovereign.

U.S.S. Evanescence. A Runabout, named after my favourite band.

U.S.S. Predacon. A Type 8 shuttle, named after a faction from Transformers.

U.S.S. Denmark. A Type 10 shuttle. It was the default name, and actually sounded fine for once, so I kept it.

The U.S.S St Leonard - Rhode Island Class Vessle,

Leonard was a religious man, who took patronage over prisoners,
According to legend, who he freed from their cells saw their chains break before their eyes. Many came to him afterwards, bringing their heavy chains and irons to offer them in homage. A considerable number remained with him, and he often gave them part of his vast forest to clear and make ready for the labours of the fields, that they might have the means to live an honest life.
