    USS Revenge (Assault Cruiser)
Actually, I got the idea from Edward Teach's ship, Queen Anne's Revenge, But...
In my Eng's story, his Grand-father (also a Starfleet Eng) died fighting the Borg at Wolf 359.

USS Miss Catalina IX (Captain's Yacht)
    and
    USS Catalina (Exploration Cruiser Retrofit)
It's where I come from. The SS Catalina is a big part of our history and the Miss Catalina boats were a series of wooden speedboats who also have their history in my hometown. There's only been VI as far as I know, but I could only use 2 characters for numbers, so I said, "hey... it's the future..."
    Hence the 9 ;-)

My ship is named the Interceptor.

I named my first ship that and I continued the name through to my latest ship, the Interceptor H.

    Gosh I love that name

My favourite of the series is the F, a Venture class Dreadnought

USS Decrepit Coot - Retro fit defiant class. She's my baby.

I picked this name because I found it funny to have an escort with immense destructive abilites with a name describing a broken down old bag 'o' bones. Just don't tease her to much or she will force herself on you. AND YOU DON'T WANT some very old woman forcing herself on you. Unless thats your thing.

No offense to women young or old. For the sake of argument though, ships are generally gender specific to females. Ships tend to have awesome curves, very much like women.

The U.S.S. Hikarizaka... i will slap myself if i find another player who has the same ship name as mine. Hikarizaka is the name of the Private High School that the characters from an anime called "Clannad" attend. One of the characters is Tomoyo Sakagami, where my IGN comes from.

If you have the time, you should watch Clannad and Afterstory (Season 2 of Clannad). Afterstory was voted as the #1 anime of all time.. and the most tragic of all time, but thats what makes it so incredible. If your a tear jerker, then Afterstory isn't for you, though Clannad has some tragedy in it as well, but not as much

You should have seen my face when I went up against another USS Bismarck. I viewed the other as a Terran Empire version.

    I have two:

USS Lexington- named for one of the longest serving carriers in the U.S. Navy. After valorous service in World War II, she spent more than twenty years in a training role. From 1969 to 1991, every navy and marine aviator learned carrier operations from her deck.

USS Carondelet- named for a decorated ironclad gunboat which served in the U.S. Navy in the Western campaign of the Civil War. On the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and a dozen other, smaller rivers, Carondelet thwarted Confederate raiding parties, reduced shore defenses and guarded Army transports from both uniformed troops and geurilla bands. She and her sisters played a decisive role in securing the western borders of the United States- and did so with no glory and little glamour.

They now constitute an almost forgotten chapter in America's bloodiest and most painful war- but they helped shape us into the people we have and will become.

In short: I'm using some sort of Markov-chain generator when naming my ships.

    Longer explanation:

My ship names consist of mostly three or four syllables, and to be 'in tune' with the character flying it the last syllable mostly has a double-vowel in it. The other syllables are usually a diphtong (a combination of a vowel and consonant), but leaving out the 'hard' consonants like 'K' or 'P'. I allow myself slight variations from those "build rules", but not too many.

    Complicated, huh?

Actual ship names I use are:

    Veladeen
    Delokaan

    Possible names may include:

Geryon (though I think that's an actual name of a mythical creature)
    Levonthaar

My character is non-human. And when given the privilege to rename the ship, why choosing a name which has a meaning to humans?

I think that almost guarantees that I don't meet a vessel with the same name as mine. And I can justifiably say I put more imagination behind it than the person behind the xth variation of "Enterprise".

The names I picked were in my opinion fitting for the class of starship that received the name.

In May of 1941 the war had just begun
The Germans had the biggest ship that had the biggest guns
The Bismarck was the fastest ship that ever sailed the sea
On her decks were guns as big as steers and shells as big as trees

Out of the cold and foggy night came the British ship the Hood
And every British seaman he knew and understood
They had to sink the Bismarck the terror of the sea
Stop those guns as big as steers and those shells as big as trees
We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss
We gotta sink the Bismarck cause the world depends on us
Yeah hit the decks a runnin' boys and spin those guns around
When we find the Bismarck we gotta cut her down

The Hood found the Bismarck and on that fatal day
The Bismarck started firing from fifteen miles away
We gotta sink the Bismarck was the battle sound
But when the smoke and fog had cleared away the mighty Hood went down
For six long days and weary nights they tried to find her trail
Churchill told the people put every ship asail
Cause somewhere on that ocean I know she's gotta be
We gotta sink the Bismarck to the bottom of the sea
    We'll find the German battleship...

The fog was gone the seventh day and they saw the morning sun
Ten hours away from homeland the Bismarck made its run
The Admiral of the British fleet said turn those bows around
We found that German battleship and we're gonna cut her down
The British guns were aimed and the shells were coming fast
The first shell hit the Bismarck they knew she couldn't last
That mighty German battleship is just a memory
Sink the Bismarck was the battle cry that shook the seven seas
We found the German battleship t'was makin' such a fuss
We had to sink the Bismarck cause the world depends on us
We hit the deck a runnin' and we spun those guns around
Yeah we found the mighty Bismarck and then we cut her down
    We found the German battleship...:p:p:p

My Ship is Called U.S.S. BULLDOG Nebula Class.
HMS Bulldog was a B-class destroyer of the British Royal Navy that saw service throughout World War II, seeing service on convoy duty in the Atlantic and Arctic. Her most notable action was the first naval capture of a complete Enigma machine and coding documents from the German submarine U-110 on 9 May 1941.
As an Ex Royal Navy Man I couldn't resist :)

My retro defiant class is called U.S.S. Viper, after the colonial fighter crafts in Battlestar Galactica. It has the serial number of Starbuck's dogtags (from the new series) with an X on the end. Because I feel a Defiant class needs an X on it somewhere.

All my ship names are drawn from British ships that fought at Trafalgar:
U.S.S. Bellerophon: (Click to view Wikipedia article)
Known to sailors as the "Billy Ruffian", she fought in three fleet actions, the Glorious First of June, the Battle of the Nile and the Battle of Trafalgar, and was the ship Napoleon finally surrendered aboard.
Named after the Greek warrior who rode the winged horse Pegasus and slew the monster Chimera.
        U.S.S. Euryalus:
A 36-gun frigate which took on survivors from the French ships, as well as the captured French Admiral Pierre de Villeneuve.
In the Odyssey, Euryalus is a Phaeacian youth. Homer gives him the epithet "the peer of murderous Ares".
          U.S.S. Leviathan:
Under Henry William Bayntun, she was near the front of the windward column led by Nelson, and captured the Spanish ship San Augustin.
Leviathan is a sea monster referred to in the Bible. In Demonology, the Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper.
            U.S.S. Polyphemus:
Fighting in the lee column; she engaged the French ships Neptune and Achille and after the battle towed HMS Victory, carrying Nelson's body, back to Gibraltar.
A gigantic one-eyed son of Poseidon and Thoosa in Greek mythology, one of the Cyclopes. His name means "much spoken of" or "famous". Polyphemus plays a pivotal role in Homer's Odyssey.
              U.S.S. Temeraire:
During the battle "The Fighting Temeraire" came to the rescue of the beleaguered Victory, and simultaneously fought and captured two French ships, winning public renown in Britain.
Her final voyage was depicted in a J. M. W. Turner oil painting of critical acclaim, entitled The Fighting Temeraire tugged to her last Berth to be broken up, 1838.

Mine is the U.S.S. Asclepius, named after the god of healing in Greek mythology.

And to give the short version of why I came into that name, is that due to unfortunate events, the previous captain of the starship -who was also a well skilled doctor-, was discharged of his duties, and the new captain decided to rename the ship to Asclepius in tribute to the previous captain.

(And I know there isn't a moon named Asclepius in the sol system, but I'm going to pretend that one moon was discovered and it was named Ascleipus. :D )

USS Missouri - Live in Missouri and well the Missouri in the US navy is quite famous so picked for that reason.

USS Vir Domus - Simple Translation is Hero's Home.. We live on our ships and we are the Hero's of our story so thought it was pretty good name but thought the Latin version sounded cooler.

              USS O'Niell - Stargate SG1 fan...
