My old Klingon ship was called "Eggterprize" lol Sort of making fun of the Old Fed ship Enterprise. Now I have a new ship with new name. "Omeletteprize"
My ship names always have some sort of significance in regards to the character commanding it, relating to either their origins, or some aspect of their personality.
For example, my Federation Main's ship is the USS Raging Tempest. It connects to him through his fighting style: In close-quarters combat, he and his sword are like a rampaging storm of destruction.
My Klingon Main's ship is the IKS D'ul. Her captain is an Expy of Yzak Joule from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, whose Mobile Suit was the GAT-X102 Duel.
My Federation Crafter has a Xenosaga Theme, and her ship is named the USS Elsa. Elsa is the name of the ship that ferries you all over the place in the Xenosaga games, so it fits the theme.
Another Fed Character I have has a bit of a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Theme. Her ship, the USS Wolfram, is named after a ship from the latest Manga in that franchise, Mahou Senki Lyrical Nanoha FORCE.
And another Fed Character of mine will command a line of ships all named USS Calnus. The name Calnus comes from the Star Ocean Franchise.
There are other characters, but those are my main ones.
I name my ships based on things I think a Federation starship would be named, I tend to be very careful to not use names that "sound cool" but instead sound like they belong in the existing Star Trek universe.
My flagship is the U.S.S. New England and my other ship is the U.S.S. Vermont,
While not strictly canon, they sound like something a Starship would be named for and also reflect my personal love for the area.
At first I had names from other games or any sci-fi genre movies, Novalith for example, than I made the USS Roddenberry -G, than later when I had a clear storyline for my main character, I started to think of names that gave a history to the ship. At the beginning of his career, my captain was hindered, so he got the USS Kinslayer, a loathed ship, because in the drydocks, during assembly, a torpedo went off and destroyed another ship.
Now i have a fleet escort called S'harien's Fury - the name is a paradox, S'harien is the legendary Vulcan blacksmith, who crafted mythical weapons. The name shows that my Vulcan main character does have a twisted humour
USS Franziskaner, captained by Morgan. Franziskaner makes a nice wiessbier, and having a captain named Morgan...come on people! LOL I also have a ship named Goldschlager. Apparently, Captain Rumsy "Rumrunner" Morgan likes his drink! XD
On another character, I have various names that are all synonyms for "nomad". Nomad, Lonewolf, etc.
I created a new KDF character recently and came up with these names to use, and translated them as best I could into Klingon. Mind you, these are close approximations, not exact translations (Klingonese lacks a lot of synonyms):

In FASA's Star trek universe, the Klingons have a similar "cursed" shiptype, it was called the "Luckless;" apparently, there were several incidents wherein there were unusual happenings, breaking out of moorings in the shipyard (resulting in a devastation collision with another vessel), several deaths; indeed, it was a bad time to be a Klingon.
USS Scarlet Lady in honor of the 1940's style pin-up that graces Virgin Altalntic airplanes. If only we could have custom paintjobs on our hull, this would be mine.

Both courtesy of the random generator.
Umm... those are decent names but...
I do not think that the Random Name Generator should be mentioned in this thread.
We're discussing Ship Names that have some kind of importance to the namer--the RNG yields names that just sound good.
If a ship name was selected through the RNG, it should not go into this thread unless the name selected through the RNG has some connection to the user. (for example, getting the name USS Colorado and having Colorado as your home state, getting the name USS Iroquois and being descended from them, that kinda thing)
That said, that is just my personal opinion. It is up to the OP to decide which names are kosher for this thread and which names are not.

USS Challenger-Named after the destroyed NASA space shuttle.
USS Astray - Akira
USS Freedom - Gryphon
USS Falcon - Peregrine (just pushed for a random name, made sense for the nippy fighter to be named after a bird of prey)
USS Epyon - MVAM Prometheus
USS Zeta - Defiant R
USS Marasai - Emissary
USS Justice - Sovereign
USS Legend - Galaxy dreadnought
USS Stargazer - Intrepid R
