U.S.S. Endorphine (recon class sci vessel). As a vulcan sareng do not rely on this chemical, but for humans it's a essential to be happy. It was a humorous atempt of sareng to name his ship after a chemical that creates emotion.

    other ships were:
    U.S.S. Stingray
    U.S.S. Alembic
    U.S.S. Rickenbacker

    All famous bassguitars

and last but not least, my galaxy class wich is called the U.S.S Clouds Suite, a son by David Gates from 1975

My Federation Ship is the USS Ortel in memory of a good high school friend and football teammate of mine who killed himself a couple of weeks ago. He was a Marine Core airman. So in my cheesy in game way, I commemorate him. He was a Star Trek fan as well.

So far I have used names of places I have been, USS Alexandria and USS Annapolis.

My current ship is named after several ships from the British Navy, USS Indefatigable.

I also have an Akira class named after my favorite sake also using traditional Japanese ship naming conventions, USS Iichiko Maru.

Rickenbacker can also refer to WWI fighter ace and Medal of Honor recipient Eddie Rickenbacker. Though i think most people think of the bass first.

Several of my ship names are stereotypical:

USS Hawking = Science vessel, named after Stephen Hawking
USS Armstrong = Science vessel, named after Neil Armstrong
USS Perseus = Escort ship, continuing the Prometheus, Cerberus Greek Mythology Theme
USS Vigilant = Escort ship, sorta robbed the Vigilant class name, but before I knew it was a class name
USS Courtney = Fleet Escort... actually named after the navy Destroyer Escort DE 1021. http://www.navsource.org/archives/06/06021021.htm
USS Emily Browning = a cruiser... named after an actor I am sorta obsessed with, kinda weird, she's not gorgeous, but I can't help myself. (Yeah my wife knows!) There is a longstanding tradition of naming ships after women, and this seems like a really good name for a ship

USS Immortal = Here is a ship name that quite possibly dates back to before some of you were born. Every space game I have ever played be it pen & paper, miniatures or video games (from the Atari 2600 to the present) there has been an Immortal in my fleet. It was only natural for the tradition to continue.

    Ships on alts:

USS Hadrian = this is the Escort ship of my Fed Klingon, Roman general later Emperor

USS Leonard McCoy = Science ship of my wife's sci captain, I think this one speaks for itself, I know there is a McCoy at Starbase 24 and all, but this sounds better, as well as looks better

USS Tranquility = Galaxy class.... the wife is a HUGE TNG fan and a big fan of the Gal, so we decided to get one to use as a "hospital ship"

IKS Karac (cruiser), K'pac (BoP) = I've always been facinated by Klingon culture, and loved the stuff in TNG and DS9, but I don't know enough about it to come up with decent names for my ships, so these are computer generated

IKS Domina (cruiser), Ravenclaw (BoP) = My wife on the other hand, always seems to come up with apropriate names, even if they aren't particularly Klingon, they sound good

U.S.S. James Armistead - James Armistead was a Black that served as a spy during the American Revolution on the side of the Colonies against the British. He was posed as a steward on Benedict Arnolds staff and later with General Cornwallis while feeding information back to the Revolutionaries. The ship names for each of my captains usually follows a theme. Mathematicians for my engineer, biologists for my science captain, and synonyms for the word "triumphant" for my tactical captain.

But the "main" ship for my first and currently only RA5 character is the U.S.S. Mere Anarchy.

"Mere anarchy" from the William Butler Yeats poem, "The Second Coming."

The name doesn't seem very fitting for a Federation starship (seems more like a warship or pirate ship name.. arr!) But I figure "escort" is just a euphemism for "warship," so hey, why not?

the USS Lexington-D. Named it after a star trek short story I wrote about a young commander fresh out of the academy who got picked by the captain of the lexington because he wanted fresh young minds for his crew and bridge officers. Mainly because he wanted fresh ideas and ways of doing things. The lexington-d is the 5 starship I've made to bear the name. I still have my original other lexington cruisers.

Isn't it a little early to name a ship after Worf's son? ;):p

I like the episode quote there too. One of the better TNG first season episodes.

My Engineer flies ships named after ships or people from David Weber's Honorverse series.

My Science Officer will be commanding vessels named after the cities of Hampton Roads in Virginia.

My Tac Officer will be riding around honoring our fine Navy submarines, including two that I have served on.
