STO under Wine/Linux/Mac

    I used to use XP up until this last week when I had some issues due to power fluctuations. I DBAN'd my drive and installed Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail". That is when my STO+Linux fun began.

    I've been doing a lot of reading and searching lately and stumbled across this:

    I grabbed the launcher that BranFlakes posted in another thread. But, it wouldn't patch. After visiting the above link and following the instructions there, my game is now installing and patching.

    Anyways, just thought I'd share my findings with the rest of the board.

    Comming up on 15 minutes and still at LOR loading screen after todays patch.

    I haven't had much luck getting past the LoR loading screen. So, after some more digging, others seem to have some luck since the release of Arc. I'm trying this method now. I'll post an update if it works for me.

    It took me a half hour to load, but I made it in. I'm using:
    Ubuntu 13.04
    Wine 1.7
    PlayOnLinux 4.1.1

    Just wanted to post an update.

    The launcher will not even start today. Keeps bring up the Cryptic crash reporter.
