Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
If you could answer some frequently asked questions I've been seeing across multiple threads and Facebook, this would be greatly appreciated and give some clarity with some issues with today's server shut down.

#1 Will today's shut down effect the 12th anniversary progress? (having 1 to 2 less days to complete the event)
#2 Will event campaign #4 be extended for one more days progress? (you couldn't finish today's last progress day before 1 pm)
#3 Will today's free give away (Captain upgrade token) be extended for a extra day?

Thanks, any information you could give the community about these things would be great.

  • Curious, do you guys have a discord or something? Would that not be an easier, more real time way to push out updates/server status and perhaps increase response/customer satisfaction?

Updates are regularly posted on Twitter and Facebook as well.

Until tomorrow? That's so vague. So anytime from now until 23 hours & 59 minutes from now?

I guess it's better than "until sometime between now and then".

Not to worry. Guess it's a good thing you found it before it went live, you'd end up with a whole line of trebuchets outside the office.

Now we continue the waiting game.

I don't know about you but I always have my pitchforks and torches on standby just in case.

Most likely, during normal business hours in one of the US time zones. Depending on where the staff of the console company/ies are located.

I believe they are in California, if I'm not mistaken.

They frequently do, and forget sometimes to post here. However, not everyone is on Discord, Twitter or FB. This is their official page, and should rightly be posted here.

Most unfortunate that you all are having to do ths. I greatly appreciate the plans to extend the giveaway (and I imagine many others will be just as thankful) and I hope that the engineers can work quickly to hammer down the problem. I look forward to when its fixed and I can dive into the new content.

    California, so Pacific time.

Promotion has been broken for fleets and email. Hopefully these issues can be addressed at this time as well. Thanks

Any updates on when the xBox One STO server will be available again? The server has been down for over 24 hours on this the update to the 12th Anniversary. While the splash screen indicates live the server is still down. The message still displays March 15 5-9:00 AM Pacific for maintenance. So we have totally lost our ability to claim the remaining awards that are available through today March 16th.Will there be some consideration for the end and start dates of the events due to the magnitude of the outage?

Kael literally said in this very topic they're extending both the event and giveaways.

You can blame Sony/MS for the extended downtime due to their 'certification' process.

Sony/MS didn't push out a broken update. Stop redirecting responsibility to 3rd parties.

I see reading is a difficult process as evidenced by the multiple posts dotted around asking the same questions.

What I said was the reason for the extended downtime is the fact they can't release borked update round 2 due to having to push it through the certification process once again, and I don't see MS/Sony fast tracking it either.

So yes third parties are directly responsible for the EXTENDED downtime, so they're to blame why we aren't already up and running again.

On PC they'd have chucked out another update by now.

i'd rather there be less talk of who's fault it is, and more talk of getting them to fix it. its already noon the next day, they should have certified it by now. maybe they forgot to set their alarm clocks -_-

It's NOT noon in California, it's 7.40am if I remember the time difference right.

I feel so bad for the game's development team, and for Ambassador Kael. I looked at the game's Twitter page, and OMG... so many mean, entitled, and terrible people play the game. One day out of the year, the game we play for free goes down, so they can release an update that won't cause the game to be completely unplayable... and people act as if it's the end of the world. I'd like to see all those mean people try their hands at making a video game, running a server, and dealing with people like themselves.

Except that, at the time of this post, it's only about 0830 in California. So I'm sure their alarms were set to arrive to work in a timely manner. 😏

Console limitations are an excuse. FFXIV runs on PC and console. The latter having keyboard, mouse and controller as well as full screen and game customization, keybinds and macros. Why doesn't STO? Limitations on developer ability perhaps and not so much the console itself?

It should be noted two different companies, Square Enix has always had a higher standard for what they put out than Cryptic. Also I think one is pay to play while other being f2p factors in.

Any new update yet. I know it takes some time to sort this stuff out, just wondering if we have a more narrowed down time frame yet?

Been playing mmo''s for decades. This is my worst experience to date. I regret getting lifetime subscription. F2P same thing without unwanted extras. Priority login? Don't make me laugh. Extra character slots? For what? Cycling through character select screen like getting teeth pulled. Long load times (game & screen) multiplied by multiple characters equals HOURS wasted and minimal progress. I guess since game is still down with no end in sight and no update given I should find another game to play and get into as well as patronize.
  • I'm on Xbox and never seen it down this long before, hopefully you guys can have it up and running again soon, just don't forget the time we lost to redeem promotions please. Thanks!

I am giving Elex II a go while I wait. I probably won't come back to STO for a while.
