I think we can only see the Franklin clearly from the aft of the ship.

I think it zooms by the camera at the end of the trailer, but I have seen no clear shots of that scene.

Yeah, I thought I was looking at an NX-class.

I'd like for the new show to be Captain Archer leaping from life to life through all the Star Trek eras, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time his next leap will be the leap home.

What found interesting is that its says they're will be multiple ships and crews, plural, but it won't be a anthology, which suggests the show focuses not on a single ship, but a task force of ships, perhaps hypothetically Including some none federation ones.

That would make it different from both DS9 the space station series and the single starship focused series like Voyager/Enterprise/TNG/Original/Animated series.

The closest is likely a more mobile DS9ish vibe, in the sense that it focusing on DS9, the defiant, and to a lesser extent Dominion/Cardassian head quarters and the Rotarian Martoks BoP ship. But more mobile like TNG.

So I'm nicknaming it Star Trek: Taskforce for now.

Garak had more character and more character development then most of TNG, Voyager, and Enterprise Characters, but was in a minority of DS9 episodes, because he was a secondary character. Heck I'd say the same of Kia Wynn, Dumar, Nog, Rom, Gul Ducot, the Female founder, and her Vorta pet. And even Leeta, Grand Nagus Zek, Tora Zell, Cassidy Yates, the Intendant, Jennifer Sisko, Luxanna Troi, and other assorted minor characters on DS9 were more interesting then a Beverly Crusher or Harry Kim.

So its not about the amount of episodes or their length, its do you use the time effiently. Much can be said in a sentance, such as Garek's "especially the lies" statement, three words, but they say so much about the character.

Heck even some of Dax's previous hosts like Curizon, Torias, Joran, were more interesting then major characters of other Star Trek series!

So if the 13 episodes are well done, character development won't be a problem, it quality, not quanity. You really need a quality core concept for a character as a base.

A list of at least some of the people who will be writing for the new star trek, an interesting group of writers to be sure.

Netflix is getting the new Star Trek international except for US (CBS Access) and Canada (Bell media gets it, it will be streamed by CraveTV, Bells Netflix like streaming service).

Okay I hate Bell Media, but since they're getting the New Star Trek in Canada I desided to try CraveTV's free month trail.

I was pleasantly surpised by the content.

Its has Whitney, an over a 100 HBO programs like the Sopronos, showtime collection with the shows like gigolos, sci fi like Dr. Who, lots of Discovery Channel docs, Comedies, and so on.

Be checking it out as soon as someone loads it up to a video site.

Luckily we don't live in a world where a simple forum post like they did would justify a search warrant. At least where I live it isn't, might look different in "the land of the free" pig-3.gif

Still kind of belongs in Ten Forward but on topic. I'm not sure how I feel about the ship's look.
  • lordgyorlordgyor Member Posts: 2,820 Arc User
It belongs here too for 1 reason. Well we get access to this ship in STO.

[Edit] Just read the article further where it notes that it's based on a very old unused USS Enterprise concept... Interesting...

Could this be the ship they're refering too, or is the same name be just a trick of Chance.

We know the ship is the USS Discovery of the Discovery Class, but is it the same USS Discovery that Data spoke about in TNG?
  • lordgyorlordgyor Member Posts: 2,820 Arc User
http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/USS_Discovery There is already a USS Discovery in canon, is it the same ship? If it is, it could give us an idea of what era it will be in.

I read someone said it looked like a cross between a Star Fleet ship and a Klingon Battle Cruiser and I agree. It looks retro, but not in TOS way, just very brassy.

    I think I like it.
  • risian4risian4 Member Posts: 3,711 Arc User
Is this about the new series?

I agree with one of the comments on that Tweet: it has a Klingon look to it. I wonder if that means anything...
