This is a great offering, though for me it'll be the stats and capabilities that ultimately decide whether this flies with me. So to speak... erm, type... whatever. Nice Starship Trait, since it leaves C:SV with a 14 sec uptime... really nice.
As to the consoles, I was wondering about the charge rates, etc. and if they'd be comparable to typical torps of their type. Will the Photon torps reload faster than the Plamsas? Will the Plasmas have lower DPV/DPS but apply (up to six in a volley) stacks of plasma DoT? Are we getting a console that can effectively stand in for a projectile weapon slot, or will it have its 6 torps reload over the standard 2 min "clicky" cooldown (or 1 torp every secs)? What will the set bonuses be? Heh, right back to the stats...
We'll see how well all three are balanced for current conditions and work from there.
[EDIT] I wonder if they'll remember to add anything to the T5 B'Rel to make it something worth owning...?
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Strange..
"can be equipped on any Tactical Escort."
"can only be equipped on Tier 5 or greater Birds-of-Prey."
"can only be equipped on Tier 5 or greater T’varo Warbird variants."
I am guessing they feel the console is too powerful to let us equip it on T1 ships? (poor T'Iiss and B'Rotlh)
I am guessing by "Birds-of-Prey" we are talking about the B'rel BoP family (B'rel, B'Rotlh, Koloth).
Will the Norgh, QulDun or Ki'tang BoP families ever get any love? If not, any chance the consoles could be "merged" into set? Set bonuses have been kinda lacking KDF side.
While I, too, would love it if there was a quantum synergy to the Defiant console, I can see why they went with Photon. Somebody else already mentioned it, in fact. It's very clearly pulled from the DS9: Technical Manual sourcebook. The Defiant is described as having a warhead module that contains six photon torpedo warheads in a magazine. If anything, we should be grateful they didn't implement the complete loss of the Deflector system when the warhead module is fired. LOL! http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Warhead_module

yes and i commented to that Persons Post. IF it was like in the Tech Manual, that we can Fire the Defiants Nose Section with Loaded 6 Photon Torps it would be fine, could be a last Resort Attack that can only be activated when the Hull is below a certain Level, dealing Massive Damage BUT Loosing the ability to Fire Front Torpedos afterwards until the end of the Run / STF / PVE / Changing Map whatever. What we have has nothing to do with that, but is more like a Torpedo Barage Console, and on a Defiant this Barrage should be Quantum and not Silly Willy Dilly Outdated Photons.
If i was the Captain of a Defiant Class Starship (in real life) and the Engineers would come up with the Idea to Install such a Photon Torpedo Barage in the Front Section of my Ship, my reaction would be WTF, you Guys drunk or what??? Smash that on a Miranda, Excelsior or any other older Ship, but NOT on a State of the Art Defiant WARSHIP

When you say it like that it does sound like something Guroth designed doesn't it?
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
Malem Class is a little light on costume options, don't you think? I had hopes for the T'Liss to be an option.
^So much THIS!
Bring back the BIRD on the Romulan Bird of Prey!
And while the cannon trait may be very appropriate for a Defiant or KDF BoP, the T'Varo is usually flown as a torp/mine boat. A Torpedo Spread or High Yield trait (or even a Mine Dispersal trait) would be much more appropriate for the T'Varo. Just a suggestion.
In any event, while the above tweaks would make it better, this is still the ship I've been waiting for.
THANK YOU KINDLY, CRYPTIC!
P.S. I sincerely hope the I.R.W. prefix option is available for those of us who want it.
My Zen is ready. But add me to the group wondering why the T6 Defiant's console is photon instead of quantum.
Because standard weapons for Federation is Phaser/Photon, for Klingon Disruptor/Photon and for Romulans Plasma/Plasma Projectile....
Which is shown when you check on any new ship gear..... so here.
And Command Cruisers have that combination too for Defence Platform.... i think (just not torpedos, but mines).
we are talking about a Iconic ship, not a Cryptic Design, so it should follow what we saw on Screen, besides Quantums are the Succesors to Photons, so any new Ship should have THOSE Pre Installed (also as Consoles like this one) instead of outdated Photons. And Last but not Least, NOPE those Rules DONT always apply, look at the Avenger, its V.A.T.A System (Variable Auto-Targeting Armament) Fires by default or if System Efficieny Command is Active a Pair of QUANTUM Torpedos YES QUANTUM not Photons, in the other 2 Modes (Strategic Maneuvering and Shield Frequency Modulation) it Fires Chroniton and Tachyon Torpedos, so NO Photons in any Mode.
The Klingon Mogh Battlecruiser that is basicaly the KDF Counterpart of the Avenger on the other Hand Fires PHOTONS by defualt.....so while Photons are still definately a Klingon default Weaponary and Plasma a Romulan thing (well in Sto at least......) Modern day Fed is using mostly QUANTUMS, Sovereign was Firing QUANTUMS, Defiant was Firing QUANTUMS, HELL even the War Excelsior Lakota was Equiped with QUANTUMS...so no i 1 Million Percet Refuse to believe, that ANY Engineer or any decision maker would Seriously consider putting Photons on a Ship like the Defiant, it is nothing but a Silly Decision to do so, and absolutely non canon.
Do you realize the diference of a Quantum and a Photon is just the warhead? the Torpedo casing is the same.
Also please tell me what set boosts quantum damage because I know photon have a few sets that do.
and do you realize that such details are unimportant? In the Shows Photons are Red Torpedos with less Damage, Quantums are Blue with more Damage thats more than enough background Information. The New Set from the Sunrise Mission looks like the Perfect Set that would go along with Quantum Torpedos, besides the main Focus of such a Ship are the Energy Weapons not the Torpedo (except for Torp Builds) so a Set that Boosts a Specific Torpedo Type is not really Neccesary, you boost Torp Damage in General with your Skills and Traits.
Other than that, look at my Signiture, says more than a Thousand Words.

Nope. I see a funny logo.... and nothing else. Either way, this isn't the ship from the TV show this is a redesigned version.
Adapted MACO and the KDF equivalent have a general Torpedo damage boost. But that's about it as far as sets go. The new Terran set also has a general Torpedo boost.
Also, does it really matter what type of torps the console has? Most players are going to ignore it and just go for a semi-canon DPS build that just has Phaser-type Cannons and the Neutronic as their Quantum torp. And if they do decide to use the console, they may as well buff it further with use of Gravimetric and/or Biomolecular Photons for the Photon torp boosts.

if it would not matter that much, than i would like to know why they cant just go with Quantum, for the SAKE of Canon Trek, some People will Ignore it but some (including me) will have Mixed Feelings seeing that their Defiant Firest with "RED" instead of "BLUE" like it should (at least the Console), the alternative would be not to use the Console at all, but that would be 1. Sad since i and many others too like to use the Special Console that comes with a Ship IF it is any usefull, and 2. Will this Console be most Certainly Part of a Set that we also would like to use, therefore this Silly Decision is not making it any easy for some People who care for Canon Trek
Well there is of course also the Option to just not buy the Ship at all...after having waited so long for a "Improved" Defiant this would be the hardest Option.....for now i will wait and see what happens, maybe they will reconsider this (one can hope) and also wait too see the Layout / Stats.......
Perhaps a marketing perception problem exists here? This should be called the Valiant Bundle. Whether the Valiant can or can't use the basic Defiant costume, it's the Valiant that is leading the pack for this bundle.

Honestly, I can't say that I disagree with his arguments. Although the Defiant undisputably has photon torpedoes, it is typically seen firing quantum torpedoes, to the point where my own Defiant build actually breaks from canon by using an aft quantum launcher where there should be a photon one because I didn't realize I did it wrong.
Right now, I'm definitely planning on getting the whole bundle in the near future - but if this whole photon/quantum thing isn't just a typo, I may reconsider dumping my carefully built-up Zen stash at this stage.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
If the console isn't changed to quantum I'll simply use quantum torpedoes and remove the console.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Bee for the console not being for Quantum's, especially at the T6 level! The ships look very nice though. It's about time we finally got a T6 Bird-of-Prey, but I am very skeptical about it because I have a feeling the stats are going to completely ruin any chance of me buying it.
