My only real problem with the new forums is that all of the links to sto forum threads from google or anywhere else are now broken and the search tool bites

Right, because in your world, informing a McDonalds manager that their employee gave you a sandwich with a bite taken out of it while smelling of marijuana and old scotch is totally "whining."

Inaccurate comparison. The forums work. It's more like the visuals you see on the board in the store versus what they serve you actually looks like. I think you would agree, McDonalds and PWE go hand-in-hand in that regard.

Riiiiiiiight. The forums worked so well, in fact, that there was a big security issue concerning PMs last week and that they had to be disabled until the issue was fixed. Then there were the randomly disappearing threads that you could still access by looking at your post history and other funny bugs.

    Totally inaccurate comparison, yep.

Oh, wait, no, it's holding a business accountable for their assets in the real world.

This tells me right away, that you are the one that must live in a separate world from the rest of reality. USA banks?

Oh right, you mean where we gave them more money after they mismanaged the money they had and and now Wall Street's an even bigger parasite than before. Totally held accountable. Yep.

    Hahahahahaha!
    Mt Gox?

Hm... so wait, what I'm getting from you is that I should escalate the issue of shoddy forum software into some crazy financial fraud cases? Now who's making wildly inaccurate comparisons. If you somehow think bad forum software and a lousy service at a restaurant is apples and oranges, you just dialed it to 11 and compared fruits and car batteries.

To clarify what appears to me as confusion, Asterelle created the enhance forum mod and I (along with some collaboration from others) created themes. After Asterelle implemented loading a few of the themes, I created a file that allowed Asterelle's forum enhancement to automatically detect and add themes to it.

So, what I'm saying is, get Asterelle's enhance mod. You get both the editor enhancements, which are fantastic, and the themes linked in files.json from my repository. There's no losing, only winning with this combo.

I understand some may be uneasy about their work because they aren't employed by PWE, but I was there with @nrglg and asterelle and since the beginning test thread and I can vouch for their earnest work figuring what worked and what didn't and how to fix it all. I don't think their work detracts at all from PWE, it only enhances it. Without the forum itself, their work would be meaningless. Their different flavors of mods are an add-on for those who want something different, but no one is saying you have to use them. The forums work regardless, it's just an enhancement.

@nrglg, don't let the haters get you down, asterelle and you have done great. And folks, no need to get your knickers in a twist. Cool will prevail! ;)

Nope, not adding 3rd party stuffs.

If PWE can't arrange a user friendly forum why the heck should I have to mess with my browser. No scripts, no Greasemonkey, no stylish or any other add-ons are neccessary on any other forums that I frequent. I'm impressed with the fact that vanilla has actually made Vbulletin look good in comparison!

Seem like a lose, lose to me. Luckily there is always reddit...

[BTW I do appreciate the work you guys have done to try and make this mess better, but the buck stops with PWE.]

The only change I really care about is being able to change my custom title.

vBulletin is actually amazing forum software. What PWE was using was actually only a fraction of vBulletin's capabilities. From what I've seen of Vanilla on other Web sites, PWE seems to be pulling the same sort of TRIBBLE they pulled with vBulletin.

This is just out of curiosity. I see by your vote it looks like you tried the third party stuff and still don't like the software, but your post sounds like you haven't tried the fixes. So I'm curious if you haven't tried the fixes how you decided you still don't like the new forum?

Wait nevermind I forgot people have posted examples of what the fixes look like. Please disregard my question.

Heh, heh, not just that but my daughter tried the fixes and I had a good look at them on her PC. Families... ;)

Oh, and I suppose calling me "Emo-kid" wasn't trolling and flame baiting at all. Puh-lease. At least my "trolling" was cleverly trying to make a point that appears to still be lost on your pea-sized, troglodyte brain.

Your trolling hasn't been clever, and the point you made... Well for the sake of politeness, let's just say it's not the one you think you made and it reflects poorly on you.

    Oh, is this your sockpuppet?

That's the best you could come up with? normal-2.gif

Just an example of how low my opinion of you is. I imagine that you're probably some pasty white 16-year-old neckbeard desperately covering up his hyperactive acne and searching for some amount of validation through his sock puppets on a Star Trek MMO's message board because no one with any shred of common sense will touch your greasy, sweaty lard as it smells like three-week-old cheese left out in the sun wherever you go.

The only way this picture could be anymore depressing is if you were 59 and still living with your parents.

No, it was you. Your cute little passive-aggressive troll post about me was the first one off topic. I was still discussing the forums and the plugins (y'know, the actual thread subject--or did you read the OP at all?) in my little argument with the other guy whose name consists of random letters up until then.

Oh, and the phrase is "the pot calling the kettle black," dumbfuck. "Crying wolf" has to do with repeating a dramatic lie to get attention.
