Many Moons have passed since the Forum migrated, some may have grown accustomed to the new format, some not. Others may have taken advantage of the fixes created by asterelle, nrglg and a few other nice folk, while some may be unaware, as was i, that any changes to the format can be made (link below if you are interested)
i'm sure we all want the Forums to be fully functional and suitable for use, so understanding why you are making the choices you are are, will hopefully provide useful feedback to help get it there. so a sentence, a few words, even just a grunt may well prove useful.
please, don't select option 4 unless you have installed and tried the fixes provided by our community
@smeeinn1t had a change of heart and is now a fan of the forum with the community enhancements.
Lol, until they change the layout and other things, we will never like it. It doesnt matter how much time we use it.
This, pretty much.
I can't be arsed to download a bunch of fixed from users (as great as they no doubt are) in order for the forums to look better. It should be PWE's job to provide us with something better.
NOTE: my vote was made under the assumption that the poll was comparing this with the previous forum. I do miss my old custom title though and am mildly annoyed that I now have my avatar and sig from the Champions forum.
Don't like them (even with the fixes from asterelle and nrglg)
Considering the login issues I still have sometimes... and considering how many friends cannot even get past the login screen just to get redirected to the home pag.
I haven't tried either CSS fixes - although if anyone would post a link, I'll give them a shot. But in all honesty, I've all but given up on these forums.

the link inside the thread will take you to asterelle's repositories for all the goodness. it provides the drop down option menu, as seen in the 1st image, providing access to the collective work being done by all involved, to help make the Forums a nicer environment for us. asterelle's repository provides a wee guide as to which bit of software best suits which browser and instructions for installing it all, it can also automatically update, so as more is done and extra options added, it will appear like magic. im really clueless with this kind of thing, and i had it all up and running in less than 10 mins.. its really pretty painless lol.

the forums need a few things not covered by those two, and pwe needs to add the options those two added on their own. Id rather avoid adding extensions to my browser then a ton of extras just for this one forum. But, as star citizen forums show, vanilla can get a lot better.
To clarify what appears to me as confusion, Asterelle created the enhance forum mod and I (along with some collaboration from others) created themes. After Asterelle implemented loading a few of the themes, I created a file that allowed Asterelle's forum enhancement to automatically detect and add themes to it.
So, what I'm saying is, get Asterelle's enhance mod. You get both the editor enhancements, which are fantastic, and the themes linked in files.json from my repository. There's no losing, only winning with this combo.

Indeed. I'm not going to suddenly let PWE "off the hook" as it were just because of a couple of community plugins. This is PWE's mess, they need to tidy it.

ah cool thanks for that clarification.. i'll amend my prior post. proof that i indeed have no idea how all this works, but glad it was easy enough to setup.

...so your logic is to whine, complain, and do nothing about it until PWE fixes it...genius! Here's me cheering you on for that endeavor.
In all seriousness, how many of you have that much faith in PWE? I would have figured everyone would have nearly no faith in them by now. Why else do you think Aster and I were to quick to jump into fixing things up? It's because we didn't want to wait around for nothing to happen.

So I suppose next you'll be advocating hacking into their games and fixing their bugs for them?

Been there, done that. Not joking. I was a security researcher before a few months ago. This kind of comment is just stupid anyways. We're talking about client-side fixes which can be easily added. You don't need PWE for that.

it is strange to think that there are people, who would rather starve, waiting to be fed by the cook, instead of getting of their TRIBBLE, walking down the hall, and accepting a freely given snack from the nice person next door. even worse is them sitting there, whining about being hungry, to the person who just offered the snack.. bizzaro!! eat the snack i say.. and TRIBBLE at the chef when you get your hands on them.

It's not stupid, it's just the same logic applied to a similar situation. PWE is responsible for these forums and they're responsible for their games. Anything that goes wrong with them is also their responsibility. Just because you were "nice" enough to put together a plugin (although after your snide remarks, I have doubts about any sort of "niceness" being remotely involved), it still doesn't excuse PWE for their shoddy work.

My remarks were snide because I can't stand people like you who have a choice to make something better and do nothing but whine and complain, even when someone hands it to you on a platter. You know what though, do what you want. Complain and whine some more. I'm sure it's really going to make some ripples because PWE cares about your opinion.

"Oh no! Someone didn't use my plugin. Wah wah wah!" That's the only "whining" I'm seeing.

totally agree, i guess there is limitations to what can be done from the consumer end, still, i have gone from 'total hate' to 'happy to use' with these fixes.. that's a very good leap, in relative terms.
The forums look pretty much like the forums looked before. I don't need something to change how they look, because I was fine with how they looked. Sure, would be nifty if quotes were a wee bit easier to read separated from the rest of a post; but that's just going to be an eventual color change by PWE somewhere down the road. The avatars at 40x40 instead of 80x80 might be smaller, but that's no big deal to me. I think it's great that we can hide signatures and signature images. Would be nifty to be able to select to have embedded items appear as links instead of embedded items - I'm not a fan of all that embedded clutter. All the formatting options I had before are there without having to add anything. I want some colored text, then I do some colored text - just like I did before. Etc, etc, etc...I'm just kind of befuddled over all the discussion on appearance...it's just so much lolwut.
Going through and hiding things (even with that need there to unhide/hide again (thanks again for pointing that out, name forgotten, but thanks still offered again all the same) to get Recent to show just STO stuff took care of that.
For the most part, it's just what it was across the board...however:
The Search functionality, though....well...yeah, that's the killer. It's useless.
First off, I'm not the plugin creator.
Second, I never intended for anyone to use my style sheets when I started making them. So I don't really care about who's using them.
Third, stats wise prove that I have more people using them than you would believe.

Right, because in your world, informing a McDonalds manager that their employee gave you a sandwich with a bite taken out of it while smelling of marijuana and old scotch is totally "whining."
Oh, wait, no, it's holding a business accountable for their assets in the real world.
PWE Vanilla Enhance is very nice. Though I have not managed to get it working under IE so I can't use it on all my computers. On the ones I can use it, "fluid width" makes the forum readable finally!
Without a decent search and a dev tracker I really don't see why Cryptic/PW switched over already. Sure they couldn't keep using the old version forever, and there are upgrades for the new one coming, but would be nice if the new one was functional before switching us to it.
@kojirohellfire I'm not going to bother responding to you after this because you're obnoxious and wish to continue blathering on in a conversation I'm not invested in.

Inaccurate comparison. The forums work. It's more like the visuals you see on the board in the store versus what they serve you actually looks like. I think you would agree, McDonalds and PWE go hand-in-hand in that regard.
Oh, wait, no, it's holding a business accountable for their assets in the real world.
This tells me right away, that you are the one that must live in a separate world from the rest of reality. USA banks? Mt Gox? Ever heard of either of those? If you did, then you might have a better understanding of what holding a business accountable is about. This is not that. This is just another online forum that happens to be run by PWE. They don't need to run this forum. It's a choice they made just like you have a choice to complain, not use it, or use visual enhancements. Whatever you choose, I'm going back to what I was doing before this.

Welcome to the STO community. We've got people here that claim they quit playing months to years ago and go on to claim they only hang around hoping the game will shut down.
indeed, you may even find some of them in a thread arguing current 'in game' issues.. 1st hand.. while at the same time proclaiming how long its been since they have played the game in another.. but erm, didn't i just see you on your engineer in Risa earlier lol. The Forums wouldnt be half as interesting if we all shared the same views (or in some cases, reality)
