Ummmmm.... That individual was neither a heterosexual, nor a couple.
You're sure you're not confusing heterosexual and homosexual, because we do have heterosexual couples in STO:
    -Neelix and Dexa
-Shon is said to have lost his family during the invasion of Vega
    -Sirella and the late Martok
    -Tuvok and his off-screen wife
-Kim and Libbi (implied in Dust to Dust)
-Kirk (off-screen) and the Enterprise in Past Imperfect (yep, I went there)
-Rom and Leeta, mentioned via the idle talks of the Holo-Leetas

the trait still hasn't shown up in my trait list and I didn't get the spec point after using the reward box either. same for my friend who played the episode.... the rewards for the episode are borked for quite a few people and yet some can't help but start a **** storm because two klingons woman love each other?

I'd be more pissed about being insulted for playing it safe and NOT being able to point out that playing it safe doesn't "endanger" her mate but prevents her from being vaporized together with several light years of subspace, saving her a rather early end -_-

ohh right your girlfriend risks getting found because I prevent her from being vaporized! I get your overprotective but USE YOUR BRAIN WOMAN!!!. geez <-<

Why not just be honest and admit that you hate gays? Why continue to play this tired game of circular logic?

I dont hate gays, just as much as I presume that you dont hate straights. I have an Uncle and cousin that are TRIBBLE and love them very much. What I do hate is the extremes of presumption that some people take to an extreme. I don't like people being aggressive towards others an ad-homonym insults, which are violations of the TOU.

I have said nothing against any lifestyles here, yet you are being aggressive and insulting to me. I really think you need to take a step back, and think a bit. You actions are going to contribute to this thread being locked down, will that help advance your beliefs any?

I specifically mentioned heterosexual and meant that. I was asking for in game presentations of "straight" couples. I dont think we have had an STO "on screen" hetero couple. Im thinking some people might be upset at the whole thing because there wasnt even an on screen straight couple. I could care less either way. Im just trying to figure out why some people are upset, beyond the typical "homophobe" assumption.

Even if that were true, there wouldnt be any 'shoving in the face.'

Shoving in the face would be something like a bunch of popups that said "Do you understand this is a TRIBBLE/TRIBBLE couple?" -> yes

Popup 2: They are both the same gender and are in a romantic relationship, they are TRIBBLE, understand? -> Yes

Popup 3: They are both women, they are lesbians, see? Get it! TRIBBLE Pride! - > Yes

Popup 4: Once again, these are a TRIBBLE couple, do you understand? Out and Proud!!!!! -> yes.

That would be 'shoving it in the face.'

Someone obsessed with homosexuality seizing on something innocuous and displaying a bizarre reaction does not mean it was 'shoved in his face.'

Im not saying it was shoving in ones face. I am just trying to figure why some are upset, beyond he "homophone bigot" line of thought. I am trying to think outside the box.

tell me about it my issue about the rewards of the mission not working for my character got drowned out together with my complaints about the mates idiocy, ignoring that "preventing her from being vaporized" doesn't constitute being insulted as a coward.

yay the trait is finally in my liiist! XD

Actually, I have not insulted anyone. Nor have I even been aggressive. Nor am I really trying to advance any beliefs. Nor will I be pushed off of this discussion because you want me and my kind to go away. Your arguments are transparently just the old "fear of the TRIBBLE mafia" we see in the comments to any news story about the subject. Same as fear of the feminazis and secret mooslems. It's the same neocon victim argument as well. It goes something like this - poor me - I'm not allowed to discriminate and hate :( My freedom is being taken away :( sniffle sniffle.

Too funny or too sad. Audience you make the call.

Let me make it a little clearer. It is not possible for a persecuted minority to be Hitler or Stalin.
it is, if the said "persecuted" minority holds control over the dominant party. to become a hitler, all it needs is radical element. an extremist group who has control of the media, and by proxy, of people.
A minority group struggling for EQUAL rights can not possible oppress anyone.
a minority group who has large presence in the congress, controls the media and social platforms and silences anyone who expresses a dissenting view. you downplay the actual political power liberals hold to appear as a victim which you aren't.
The only reason you feel oppressed is because you are forced to see others that are different from yourself.
ditto at yourself. your only source of oppression is that you see conservative people who express their views like you do yours, and that they're not agreeing with you.

you don't know what oppression means until you lived under a brutal socialist government.
Awww, so sorry :( Each passing year is going to get uglier and uglier for you :(
Even if we see one last republican president, the tide of public opinion in the developed world is sweeping fast.
you speak as if i'm american. i'm eastern european.

in our last elections that happened a short while ago the far right wing won by a landslide. left wing liberal parties were crushed with mere 2% votes. again.

the only thing that'll get uglier is the face of the internet.
Actually, I have not insulted anyone. Nor have I even been aggressive.
passive aggressiveness is still being aggressive.
Why not just be honest and admit that you hate gays? Why continue to play this tired game of circular logic?
here is an example of both passive aggression and being insulting. you imply that because he doesn't hold the same views you do, he hates an entire group of people. this is called an insult. just because it wasn't an ad hominem doesn't mean it isn't one.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

You should push for internet censorship in your country then to prevent having to see these repulsive deviants. Perhaps also invite oppressed and disaffected right wing extremist from other countries to your paradise. How many refugees will you house? You can round up all perverts who are corrupting your children and put them up against the wall. Hail Putin?

we have no welfare at all, so they'd have to either get a job or beg on the streets, which apparently deters immigrants like wildfire. they only go through our borders to enter rich countries like germany or france, who will fund their work-free lives.

i don't have to push for anything, i can just wait for socialist countries like america to pass another sopa-style legislation that'll give them power to censor the web for their citizens. that way you'll censor yourselves out of the rest of the net. :P

Actually, your suggestion that I hate gays was insulting. Honestly, an apology from you is in order. Any "argument" I have had were against the "shame and blame game", the cause behind it is irrelevant as I oppose it nomatter what.

I have no intention to "push you off the discussion", I could care less whether "your kind" (I highly doubt you speak for all LGBT's) go, stay if you want, go if you want. As you have made many politcally charge statements, it certainly does appear you wish to forward some sort of belief. The belief I wish to forward is that true progress isnt made by bring aggressive, shaming, and shouting down people.

I would just like to see you not so hell bent on shouting down people that you dont even know where they are coming from. Try asking legitimate questions before going on a rampage. If you had read my comments I am trying to see what the reason why some people were offended without jumping to the old standard of "bigotted homophobe". I believe that there are three sides to a story, and that they do not need to be politically, socially charged.

No, no, these will be wealthy mostly white refugees fleeing the socialist (LOL!!!!!) america. Have you no heart for your oppressed brothers here in the west? Together you will be able to round up more deviants much more quickly.

No, I will not apologize to someone advancing a position in support of someone's right to discriminate and make such a brave stand against the TRIBBLE mafia.

We are in a place in this country not so many years away from what is going on in Russia TODAY, where rounding up gays, torturing and beating gays, killing gays, is supported by the government.

Maybe in 50 years we can laugh at the racist - oh how quaint, he hates blacks or hispanics. And in another 50 the same with gays. But we are far from that point of safety.

I don't think this is the place for socio-political discussions. You took a great thread and turned it into a warring political discussion. I'm perfectly happy for political discussions, but not ones with the volatility and disrespect I'm seeing. Hell, I'm even going through posts about TRIBBLE Germany! And for what? A difference for opinion displayed in what is very, very unfortunately a horrendous way (on both accounts even).

There is political necessity and the values that we find in our civil liberties. When we defend them, we are defending ourselves. But too often do we flat out go on the attack. Don't like the fact that you thought the TRIBBLE couple was placed in awkwardly to you? Say that. Are you happy that you saw a progressive inclusion of marganilized groups? Say that!

But don't flame each other for it. If you're unhappy with someone or something and cannot constructively express it, then take some to cool down before you post. This applies to both sides of the parties.

    Now listen up.

If you are unhappy about the lesbians then you should explain why in a constructive manner. Be civil and be respectful. It's in the ToS. It's really not hard to do. If you find people are getting upset and arguing with you a lot, re-examine your posts.

If you are unhappy about others being unhappy about the lesbians, you can disagree but be civil and respectful. I'm bisexual myself, and even I'm appalled at the manner people here are treating those who disagree with the episode and/or LGBT folks. Do you think calling someone a bigot is going to suddenly make them decide :

"You know what? I'm going to rethink my stance on this considering you just publically called me that!"

God no! It furthers a divide and shuts down the conversation by creating an even greater rift between you. It awards you no points other than venting at their expense. It doesn't help make progressive momentum. It creates an 'Us' vs 'Them'. The only way to bridge that divide is with some god damn compassion.

Seriously. I'm going to unleash the hammer if this doesn't knock off. Please. Impress me and show civility and kindness to each other.

the TRIBBLE thing went completely unnoticed by myself. maybe because, as an australian, 'mate' registers differently, or maybe i am just thick, or maybe i am more enlightened than i realise.

as a proud warrior of the kdf i didnt understand why it was assumed i had no cloaking ability of my own, or needed help to understand units measure.

as a dahar master i dont understand why i was so demure when confronted by an abrasive underling that actually called me a petaq!

and considering i literally went to hell and back for a shard of kahless, i find it pretty shocking that i so easily left the actual sword of kahless behind and beamed up like a coward.

today is a good day to- zomg hurry and beam me up!

geko was really talking up how this mission would be told from the kdf perspective, but (unsurprisingly) it felt very fedcentric. how is that even possible? cyrptic seem to do it pretty predictably.

Honestly, I don't believe that was his intention.

    Yeah, fair enough.

The only thing is STO had to know this was coming when they put it into the episode. The company should be commended for doing so. I do typically avoid political discussion as it is pointless. I did allow myself this one because I was so pleased to see the couple in the episode and was initially pleased at the first 10 pages or so that were supportive. It has turned dark however. Hmm, I guess I will flipflop and take my leave now.

I find it sad and ironic that you are acting as intolerant and as blind as any true racist or homophobe would. The fact that you cant even see that you are blaming people of bigotry in the same manner of paranoia as people in the late 40's and early 50's were claiming there was a "Commie' under every bed".

There have been people who have said some anti-TRIBBLE statements, but there are also people who were offended by content. When someone tries to find out if there is another reason behind the taking offense other than homophobia, not a word of indictment agasi t the LGBT community, you (and some others) attack them instead?

Now you wont appologize for insulting someone, for saying that they hate gays, because you still argue that they hate gays? Talk about circular logic.

Good luck with your pent up hate filled life.

Mod's you can close this down anytime now, it seems that there is now fighting just for the sake of fighting.

Honestly, this Episode was a complete disappointment, adding to the disappointment I've felt over much of what has been released for "Season 10".

The mission had a great start, then after briefly wandering around the map, clicking two items, fighting a few mobs, and watching a pointless death - it was over.

It did not feel like an important mission. I do not feel like I achieved anything for the war effort. I hardly feel like there's an all important galaxy-wide war even occurring.

With the Dyson Sphere story line, you actually felt like you were involved in an epic battle with the Voth for control of the Sphere. There were 2 battlezones, a whole set of episodes, some epic STFs (that don't get played enough now) and a truly inspiring story. With the Delta Rising arc, you actually felt like you were fighting the Vaadwaur both in the storyline and on Kobali Prime.

I dont feel any of that with the Iconian War. It feels supremely underwhelming. You don't see any changes to New Romulus, you don't see the Iconians anywhere. The Featured Episodes don't feel like they are connected to a war effort in any way. There is no battlezone to fight over, and no changes anywhere in the quadrant to imply that the Alliance species are in any type of danger.

I understand you all had staff cuts, but if this is the great d

I will keep this thread open, because this SHOULD be the place where we can be respectful enough to have a decent conversation about the episode and elements inside it. I will keep it open until we do, and I will lay down the hammer to anyone who breaks civility with one another.
