Imagine how dangerous this company would be if they hired some competent staff.

Should have applied one of Scotty's rules, here. Double the estimated time of repairs, do it in half the time - Bam! You're a miracle worker.

especialy when all those bugs were already fixed many weeks ago on tribbles,

it should have been the fastest downtime ever ! but hey, it's Cryptic/pwe or nothing ;)

wait what ? they added another 30 min to it now?
    unbelievable !!

Unbelievable that they had technical issues after having technical issues?

"Unlikely" might be a better word for it.

Well probably has something to do with the ship discount. They have to fix it this week or a ton of players are going to be super upset. So the extra downtime would certainly be understood if it was for that.

So I went to check if the game was back up again when the launcher notes said: NOTE: Maintenance has been extended to 12:00. Instead of a 2.5 hour maintenance it's now 5 hours?

And their twitter: https://twitter.com/trekonlinegame/status/553241036776935424 "Our engineering team will be performing a warp core stabilization"

    What is going on... :o

fleet admiral Patrick here my rank and long list of accolades for starting in 8/2013 not 9/2013 speeks for it self of my engineering expertise the warpcore has still not started trendy and I must say I have made pleny of cold starts just fine myself how long does it take your crew of monkeys to warm up that warpcore are thay doing it with thare butts

If star trek taught us something, is that you can fix all problems by diverting more power to it, if that fails, you can always modify the deflector disk.

Or re-route power from deck 4 because they dont like the crew members on that deck

folks the maintenance is an evil we all don't like but we need. this is to insure when the server goes south they can restore the game to the point it died. so like it or not we are at their mercy.
I'm going to be so much more productive today!

12:30 PST now folks. Now they include "drydock" in it as well.

Let's be honest their monkeys are NOT the best trained set we've ever seen.

That's fine. I didn't want to play anyway. I had a limited window after going to work this morning and then going back to work tonight to play, but I suppose that we're going to take today off for maintenance. Mind you, I get paid tomorrow, and I had originally had my eye on a bortasque from the Cstore, however if they can't even bother to keep the servers online anymore, I'm having second thoughts.

Gotta hand it to Trendy though... Sucks the maintenance is being extended so much, but she's posted more in the last few hours than most other devs have in the past month!

Granted, her communications have been a little cryptic, what with the strange warp-core-metaphor thing... (puns intended)

So I've played a fair amount of MMO's over the years and am regularly disappointed with the poor customer service provided by Cryptic/PWE. Maintenance problems occur in every MMO but the team here fails miserably in two areas: communication and compensation.

First, communications. Telling us the "warp core" is being worked on is not cute. It's not funny and it's certainly not informative. This lack of information is consistent around here and shows a real lack of professionalism and consumer respect. If you tried to pick up your vehicle from your mechanic and it wasn't done, you would be shocked if he sarcastically told you the gerbils under the hood were still being fed. Hey devs and "community relations" people, how about treating us with a little respect and giving us some actual details as to what the problem is and why it wasn't fixed during the last several maintenance extensions.

Second, why no compensation? Not all of us are free to play, some of us pay for our time here. Other MMO's that had extended down time provided some small compensation just to show that they understood the inconvenience. The compensation costs these companies nothing and is usually just a few freebies but it makes us feel a bit better. If my meal is really late at a restaurant, the waiter might throw in a free drink. In a different MMO, you might get a few free supplies.

Again, back end problems arise. I'm just stunned by how poorly they are handled by Cryptic/PWE.

yes i agree with you totally on this other MMO's give paying customers compensation

Another "which-present-is-Q-in?" game for another 1k Qmendations grind for another mediocre ship. Exciting to say the least...

Come to think of it, at the rate of 3 ships per year we're gonna be flooded with them soon and it isn't worth it. I bet many players are getting tired with it already. I already have a few fleetmates who will no longer bother grinding for them. Get us some interesting items instead. A rechargeable battery would be at the top of my list. :D

And a new episode. Last year we got to jet-pack above a Star. If this didn't float your boat then you should just stop trying to pretend to be human (the present game was boring as hell, but its no justification for unconditional pessimism.)

I know, right? So many jokes we could make a book of them. Let's start filling it in now, what are some good ones....OH!

    Their marketing
    Their customer service
    Their competance
Their interaction with their player base

Feel free to add to it, I'm sure the list goes on.

I'd agree with you if this was a Pay-to-Play game....however this is Free-to-Play, run at cost to the provider not the consumer. You don't go demanding more free beer as compensation from your mate who arrives late to his own party!

Players who think their needs are more important then everyone else's.

Players who always want free stuff.

Players who call for Cryptic employees to be fired.

Players who call for the dealth or harm to others.

Is that bcause it is still down? Or because the flood of people trying to log in at the same time is bottlenecking the login server?

Many DO pay to play this game. Cryptic happily takes their money so they owe the services. I myself don't have a subscription but I chose to buy a few ships and some keys... don't I deserve to use them now since I DID pay for them cash money? Your point holds no water unless NO ONE pays and again, MANY do.
