So I went to check if the game was back up again when the launcher notes said: NOTE: Maintenance has been extended to 12:00. Instead of a 2.5 hour maintenance it's now 5 hours?
Double, triple, quadruple checking the winter ship fix for those who still have the problem. It's a shame as it eats into prime time playing, but better to get things right.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

Im no Techie but surely all these fixes would have already been done and dusted on test server so all that left to do on "maintenance" is instal them.. again excuse my ignorance but ive only been playing STO a few weeks and ive seen nothing but issues with old bugs and basic issues
If star trek taught us something, is that you can fix all problems by diverting more power to it, if that fails, you can always modify the deflector disk.

If we are going to use treknobabble, may as well go full Voyager and use the words "quantum", "phase", "array", and "temporal" 16.4 times in every diagnosis and solution.
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
most of the hamsters had already 'expired' over the holidays anyhow. It was cheaper to let them starve to death and replace them later vs paying someone to come in over holidays and feed em. (which also explains the worsening lag over the holidays-as it took a while for those poor hamsters to starve to death) the service extension is someone forgot to check the pet shop for an adequate supply of 'replacement' hamsters-the pet shop had to transfer some more in from their other store .
So I've played a fair amount of MMO's over the years and am regularly disappointed with the poor customer service provided by Cryptic/PWE. Maintenance problems occur in every MMO but the team here fails miserably in two areas: communication and compensation.
First, communications. Telling us the "warp core" is being worked on is not cute. It's not funny and it's certainly not informative. This lack of information is consistent around here and shows a real lack of professionalism and consumer respect. If you tried to pick up your vehicle from your mechanic and it wasn't done, you would be shocked if he sarcastically told you the gerbils under the hood were still being fed. Hey devs and "community relations" people, how about treating us with a little respect and giving us some actual details as to what the problem is and why it wasn't fixed during the last several maintenance extensions.
Second, why no compensation? Not all of us are free to play, some of us pay for our time here. Other MMO's that had extended down time provided some small compensation just to show that they understood the inconvenience. The compensation costs these companies nothing and is usually just a few freebies but it makes us feel a bit better. If my meal is really late at a restaurant, the waiter might throw in a free drink. In a different MMO, you might get a few free supplies.
Again, back end problems arise. I'm just stunned by how poorly they are handled by Cryptic/PWE.

My guess is Reginald Barclay accidentally dumped the Waste Disposal contents into the Warp Core Intermix Chamber... AGAIN! :P

Looking for a new fleet? Drop by the in-game chat channel, "tenforwardforum", and say hi to the members of A Fleet Called Ten Forward (Fed) and The Orion Pirates (KDF). If you already have a fleet you are happy with, please feel free to drop by our chat channel if you are looking for a friendly bunch of helpful people to socialize with.
Although my cynical nature gives rise to the veracity of claims pertaining to the projected server stability following this extended maintenance and programming patch downtime, the optimistic part of me maintains hope that this new year will bring forth a plethora of stable game play, hours of lag free server interaction, and an overall gaming experience that will continue to capture and hold my attention over all of the exciting game titles that have been or are soon to be released.
To tell the truth, the only thing that has kept me loyal to this game is the STAR TREK name, but admit it, other than the designs and canon tie-ins, this game has very little to with Star Trek....I mean, when did ANY starship captain have to mine dilithium for a Ferengi? (rhetorical question for those that missed it):D
I do hope that PW and Cryptic Studios actually improve game play but to be honest, I am hearing more complaints than praises from my fleet mates and those I interact with in-game. It is extremely difficult to maintain morale when the troops are constantly meeting with disappointment. It is my opinion that whoever has final say pertaining to game content, step up your game or players will find a new one. And I would hate to be the last player in STO:eek:

Simple. They suck.
lol
Funny enough, when i logged off yesterday i said "Seeyas after the patch tomorrow. If they manage to not TRIBBLE up this time." 8-)
Well, if it wouldn't have been so foreseeable i'd claim prophet status now. 8-)
I LOL'd at this.
