The Guardian looks very well made for Vacuum/Interdiction builds, I do hope more people actually catch on to the playstyle for it.
Mat'ha.. wow.. really an amazing ship. I'm not sure what to make of that inertia rating.. can't wait to slap some RCS on it fly that thing sideways.
Aelahl.. I'm extremely disappointed it doesn't have a Lt.Cdr Science seat(or a 5/3 if it was to be an Avenger/Mogh counterpart). For a 'pocket battlecruiser warbird', why does it have 5 engineering consoles? This was the ship I was most excited for.. but this layout(if it launches like this).. just lost what was going to be a launch-day purchase.
The Dauntless.. doesn't interest or impress me. With that heavy tactical leaning, it has neither Dual Cannon support, nor the weapon slots to make the most of it. A best, it will be a decent Torpedo Boat(something the Vesta is still a superior option for).
Well since all science ships are supposed to eventually get secondary deflectors (as far as I've heard floating around), I imagine it will get one when all other science ships get one... that or not having the secondary deflector is a price it pays for getting an integrated cloak and intel ship powers, just like the eclipse gives up two of the cruiser commands for it's intel stuff, and the phantom gives up... um... erm... something I'm sure. :P
yea but visually Scryer does have 2 HUGE deflectors which can be seen from the earth while hes on the other side of the Moon lol
It already has 5, and there will be no 6 slot ships, at least not for a while.
Missed that. Hm. Maybe another Science slot to balance things out? Or another Tac, which does fit into the whole "Glass Cannon Space Wizard/Ninja" shtick that Romulans have going on.
yea but visually Scryer does have 2 HUGE deflectors which can be seen from the earth while hes on the other side of the Moon lol
Right... kind of forgot about the twin deflectors on that thing appearing almost the same size... lol. That is a rather obvious ship to slap a secondary deflector on.
The Romi Battle Cruiser needs 4 tac and 4 eng in order to properly fill its roll as a nimble Battle Cruiser. This would fill the niche of a lack of an Avenger/Vorcha like ship in the Romi ranks. Fix that and I'm more excited about these ships than I am about the intel ships.

I imagine the fleet version will get a fourth tactical console. No guarantees of that, but based on the way it's set up, I would imagine that's what it's going to get. But then a third sci could be one of those "nasty surprises" mentioned earlier in the thread.
Can the Galaxy or Venture skins be used on the Guardian?
This. In fact it shouldn't be a question if I could have a Guardian with a Galaxy skin I'd buy one. Otherwise it'll be just the Phantom for me.
I'm also in the dissapointed with the dauntless camp, I understand why they made it tac heavy but because we never saw it in battle there's no cannon reason why it couldn't have been super sci heavy. I'd love to have one with no tac boffs on it and just play science games all day!
The Guardian looks impressive but still limited to 4/4 weapons why is there push for Ensign slot and the KDF one has 5/2 ratio. Come on already give us 5/5 weapons slots on these two big bad boy's and ditch the Ensign slots. Give these Tier 6 ships dual shield slots since doesn't seem to be any goal to go 4 or 5 shield slots. I would like to go in there weapon armed and ready to shoot an assortment of different deadly weapon payloads and know that my shields are stronger. Hulls on these at level 60 seem mid-way why not go 80,000.
Again no visual look at the ship in 3D - 360 degree along with the layout of consoles included. Text you have list some items. But what's under the hood. I am sure there will be some kind of quick look doing a the live-stream of these ships in action showing what they have but not breaking them down in visual sense.
the guardian is great, with that station setup its like the d'deridex only better. turn rate is pretty low though, id really like to see something more like 7.5 on there. not much else to say other then it looks great, and be a really strong cruiser you can use for just about everything.
the dauntless looks to be the most tac heavy sci ship of all, but thats not really what you want on a sci ship. sci ships need max aux, unlike the other 2 types, and thats how they best deal damage and harm the enemy. damage dealing with tac stations and weapon slots like a cruiser and escort works poorly on a sci ship chassis. lots of tac stations that mostly work with weapons that need max weapon power, and the fact that sci ships only have 6 weapon slots and they also need lots of aux, it just stretches you to thin for your ship to be very strong.
it also only comes with a LT eng, thats pretty low, most ships need at least 3 of 4 eng stations or they cant run much needed EPtX skills, eng heals or RSP, backbone skill especially on sci ships that dont tend to be very evasive platforms.
due to both these issues, i strongly recommend making the LT tac a universal station, the ship doesn't even have a universal station, sort of unheard of. sci ships are pvp ships, and this ship has to compete with the vesta, wells, palisade and most directly, the dyson sci ships. unless that LT tac is uni, i don't see the dauntless as especially viable or useful.
finally, a GOOD raptor. not only good, but great! 5 fore weapons, a great station setup, console looks cool too. rapters always tend to have crummy below average turn rates, 15 is pretty bad, 17 is the low average these days. for a cloak and a bit more hull, they get a crummy .83 shield mod, this has a .85 so thats a bit better, i think .87 would be more fair though, and a better turn rate, 15.5 would be really nice.
i was hoping the Aelahl Warbird Battlecruiser would be the romulan avenger/mogh, but it doesn't have a 5/3 weapons setup, but its turn rate is a bit better. should still be a real nice battlecruiser, but i really would have liked that 5/3 weapons, even if you reduced the turn rate to 9. also, the hybrid station being only the built in LT sci, it will be a pretty high opportunity cost to run any intel power, displacing the few sci powers you could run. id rather see the hybrid station be the universal ENS, would make you much more versatile
i like both tier 6 station setup possibility these ships have. the duel LTC+ ENS, and the LTC+ 3LTs. both are pretty much equal, and really beef up a ship over tier 5U

Can the Galaxy or Venture skins be used on the Guardian?
The very highly likely answer is "no." There are no other ships that allow the appearance of one class to be used on another, and somehow I doubt we're starting now. Though it would make so many galaxy fans happy to finally have a galaxy that isn't an engineering convention. In fact, I imagine whichever "fix the galaxy/galaxy beef" thread is currently active might be blowing up with "The guardian is what the galaxy should have always been!" and some "We demand the galaxy skin on the guardian, it's the LEAST you can do for shafting the galaxy so hard!" and whatnot. And it would be pretty spiffy to let that happen, but I'm guessing that since the guardian is supposed to be it's own class, the best we can hope for is some variants that are very galaxy-like, if not at launch, perhaps the fleet model could tip a hat that way. *Shrug* I personally like that the ship seems very reminiscent of the probert ambassador and would love variant/mix and match bits that would lean that way as well... so having a round saucer option and a big, wide galaxy saucer option would be great for taking it more in either direction. But from what I've seen of it so far, I think I quite like it the way it is.
The Mat'ha Raptor is by far a beast. Out of all the ships, that one has the best (imo) consoles - Heavy Disruptor Spinal Cannons. Sustained barrage is an understatement; that thing is a machine gun.
Both the Guardian and Dauntless are solid examples of their ship classes. Desperate Repairs looks like a handy counter to being vaped, though the on-crit generation keeps it from being quite as overwhelming as a health trigger would have made it... probably a good thing. Questions:
Just how compatible with other powers is Radiant Nanite Cloud; for example, will Desperate Repairs or an Embassy Console [HuH] trigger a 4 sec HoT on everyone within 3 km when used with Radiant Nanite Cloud; how about Structural Integrity Leech and Structural Integrity Field Siphon?
How does Radiant Nanite Cloud interact with other HoTs; for example, if you apply Hazard Emitters or have Fleet Technician, will each healing pulse emit a 4 sec HoT within 3 km, or only the first pulse, or will it be based on the total healing when the other HoT is applied?
Can the Radiant Nanite Cloud HoT stack, and is there a maximum number of stacks?
Awww... I thought we were getting a MaHa that I could name the I.K.S. Nelson; why'd you guys change it to the Mat'Ha? The ship is rather nice, though I wonder about the effectiveness of the console due to the builds that the Reciprocity/Battle Ready combo and Tactical Retreat will promote among competitors... unless we're taking NPCs that don't bother to move, though our own Overwhelming Force trait could also knock enemies out of arc. Wait, a .85 Shield Mod paired with a 15 Turn? Never mind, still mediocre at best thanks to the lack of a battle cloak to make up for the lower durability and lower maneuverability. 5 Tac is no longer such a huge thing with what we know of Delta Rising, though a 5 Fore is nice and Overwhelming Force does look cool. Questions:
Do the mini-Charged Particle Burst and mini-Photonic Shockwave trigger a cooldown on the full-sized boff abilities, or themselves for that matter?
Can the mini-Charged Particle Burst and mini-Photonic Shockwave be doffed (not sure it'd be worth the doff slots, but it'd let us be more creative)?
Since all of our T:HY will be capable of emitting a mini-Photonic Shockwave, will the cooldown version of the Photonic Studies Scientist be put back to its original state?
The Aelahl is an odd design... it has a console that applies a science damage resistance debuff to the target but only 2 Sci consoles and a maximum of 4 Science boff abilities (and only up to Lt. rank, so no GW). It has the stats of an Eclipse, but lacks the Intel powers, has a lower Inertia and Impulse Mod, has no Cruiser Commands, and has a 1000 crew to ensure that it repairs itself far more slowly. At least the Starship Trait is cool, I suppose... kinda. Questions:
Does the Warp Shadow created by Warp Shadow Decoy actually force a target shift when you cloak, or does it just "taunt" NPCs?
Does the Warp Shadow created by Warp Shadow Decoy benefit from a Singularity Core designed to improve Warp Shadows?
Anyway, are there plans to actually balance out the offerings or are we pretty much looking at a final release distribution of 5/2/2? If so, in what manner are KDF and Rom characters going to gain access to an equivalent pool of Starship Traits compared to Fed characters, and was this taken into consideration? So far our Fed captains have gained access to Starship Traits that improve damage potential, survivability, and healing... are we getting a universal cross-faction Starship Trait unlock in the Delta Rising lock box or are our KDF and Rom captains simply left underpowered by comparison... especially Roms that have only gained the ability to "Run away!" so far compared to the KDF that can at least help blow stuff up. :P
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Ah, yes, the Guardian has the BOFF arrangement we've only ever dreamed of for the Galaxy.
Interested to see the final pricing on tier 6 ships. That seems like a lot of ships for the money assuming at least $5 extra for t6. Is it worth it to buy ships you don't like to earn a trait you might use on another?
Has the accuracy of the heavy spinal lances been improved over the original fitted to the Galaxy X? Because it amazes me that whilst moving in a direct line of sight towards a Borg cube, traveling at 1/4 impulse power, and from within a 3KM range the Gal X still manages to miss the target with the lance.
Overall whilst I like the look of the majority of the ships (The dauntless looks badass by the way) I've gotta say the Guardian class cruiser is ugly enough to be a modern art master piece. It really does look like it was thrown together by a team of engineers using left over spare parts. And with its big TRIBBLE bumper up front, I hope it gets some sort of buff from using ramming speed.
I feel tremendously letdown. I was really looking forward to all of this new Intel Stuff. Now I find out that if I want play with any of it I that I am going to be stuck with the Faeht.
Leaving aside that it is weaker than the T'Varo and that its bonus Power Levels are Weapons when it is designed to be a Torpedo Boat, the Intel Stuff doesn't work while cloaked. So why was it placed on the ship designed to be eternally cloaked instead of the one that wasn't? I ...guess the goal was to prevent Romulan characters from being able to use any of the new gimmicks and powers.... maybe? If there was any other reason, I don't know what it would be.
I am just really disheartened by this development.
Last I checked, you can use the Venture skin on a Galaxy and vice versa if you own both.
The galaxy is considered an exploration cruiser, and the venture is an exploration cruiser refit, so while it is a "different class" in lore, it's just a different skin for the same ship in practice.
You Galaxy Fan Bois really need to stop flogging the dead horse! :P
Now that I have seen the stats I am certain I will be purchasing the Dauntless (to replace my Fleet Intrepid) once it's available as an individual purchase, really liking the BOff layout, really suits my game play style! The Dauntless starship trait & console look like lots of fun too, not to mention the excellent work on the modelling and texturing of the ship!
However I would like to request more information on the features of the 'Hyper-Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive'.
Many Thanks Cryptic you did a wonderful job on this one!

THIS.
The Aelahl isn't even an upgrade to my Fleet D'D. The Projected Singularity console? I already got one, thanks. But without a Lt. Cmd Science Station the Aelahl is a piece of junk that will only be used by FAW enthusiasts, which means the upgraded turn rate will be a waste.
I will laugh however when the Fleet Aelahl gets an extra science console to make it more like the D'D.
So where's the stats for the free ship we'll get on promotion at level 50? I mean, every other tier has one, and since this game is supposed to be free to play it's only reasonable to expect that there will be at least one option for an end game ship for free, even if it isn't quite as good as the paid for ones, right?
Yes I'm still bitter about them putting every single end game ship behind a pay gate.
And when a Cryptic Dev answers my question, I'll believe it.
I think it'd be really cool if the devs would let people use the galaxy/venture skins on it, it would probably completely shut up the "why you hate the galaxy so much?" threads forever, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Especially because, now that I think about it, doing so would make the galaxy class the one old, canon ship to make it to full, proper T6. So yeah... very doubtful. That'd be a massive can of worms to open.

it has a 10 turn rate, and all you can think to use it for is a FAW boat? a cruiser with a LTC tac, 10 turn rate, and can use DHCs is a piece of junk? what game are you playing?
why do you want a d'deridex replacement? wouldn't you rather have something with a differnt niche? this is a more klingon like battlecrusier with a singularity core, sounds good to me, i'll still enjoy my d'deridex and use it as the very different ship that it is.

I had been hoping for something more in line with the Ambassador, a bit smaller, more agile.
Darn.
