As expected. So now we have 11 Console slots. (6 Tactical slots anyone?)

With regard to the consoles, the best idea would be to add a universal only slot rather than any tac, sci, or eng consoles. Otherwise playbalance becomes even more problematic.

    Dev's please take note.

So what I'm wondering is if to compensate for the new, more-than-likely-to cost Zen T6 ships, will we at least get basic versions of the current premiums like the Odyssey and Vesta?

Do you really think they won't just make the lockbox ships automatically be T6? If they don't, the sales of the old boxes will dump, and those are the game's cash cow. As any farmer will tell you, you don't go out and shoot your cash cow while she can still give milk.

Unfortunately, they just put out a whole blog post about T6 ships while failing to mention what will happen to all the T5 ships that cost money to obtain like:

    1) C-Store
    2) Lock Box
    3) Lobi
    4) Fleet ships

Nice to get more info from Exp 2, but leaving these details out is shooting themselves in the foot on the money front since people don't want to buy obsolete stuff.

P.S - Even worse, what will happen to all the lobi MK XII stuff?

And these new gimmicks is going to control power creep by...........adding more power?

All in all, as expected. But I have a bad feeling power creep we experienced so far is just a tidbit of the power creep yet to come. So, guess STO is going to be like one of those Freeware Games where we 1-shoot everything? :P

Nope, because they will backwards engineer harder opposition in all the stfs. That way your apparent increase in power will be rendered meaningless.

Yes, you can once again surrender the notition of accomplishment and feel like your pet hamster running in his wheel.

Um, didn't they always increase HPs as you leveled up?

(I.E. upgrading to higher Tier, and Skill investments increase as you level up).

Why do I get a bad feeling when I see that?

Translation: We're not done figuring them out yet!

Why do I get the feeling this is just rehash of the original Skill Trees where we had to spec into our ships?

For the JHAS promo the specifically added that it would get upgraded to T6 standards for free. There is no reason to believe they would do this for only one Box ship and not all of them, quite the opposite.

Box being all Lockbox/Lobi/Gift/Event ships that are sellable on the exchange and/or Fleet quality.

The transmission has been decoded! Learn about Tier 6 Ships with their Starship Mastery, new Starship Traits, Mechanics and more in our blog here

Interesting. Still not enough information for a final judgement. But still interesting.

At least enough to further tickle my curiosity.

It's quite clear to me: Not every tier 6 ship will have these specialist seats, but all of the initial ones being released in the expansion do.

It always amazes me how a thread ends up with 10 to 15 pages of posts before someone just bluntly asks the questions everyone really wants to know. :P

What are these new ships going to be? (Their classes, appearances, powers, specialties, etc.)

We want our meat and potatoes (or in the case of Klingons our gagh and racht). In other words we (as in all us players) want to know about the ships themselves along with the added features. Personally I'm hoping to see a new T6 bird of prey for KDF toons as I feel that class has seen far too little attention in favor of less Klingon-esk ships.

I speculate too that the T6 store-bought-ships will cost 2500-3000 zen.

On a more positive note, darn good trailer for Delta Rising.

I keep anticipating more news about the expansion & enjoying the tidbits they've released so far.

Dump the iconography. It's not what's important (it's nice but it shouldn't ever be made the end-all.)

    What???

If you aren't playing STO for the iconography, why play?

The iconography is the ONLY...ONLY...thing making this game "Star Trek". The gameplay hardly qualifies, with the non-stop shooting, killing and all out destruction. And the gameplay is far from the best any MMO has to offer.

So if not for the known variables of the ships and the uniforms, why aren't you playing EVE or something else?

Seriously, you didn't just say that.

But, in spite of that... Why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me... It says, "Search for Paradise."

Will we be able to obtain/pick at least ONE T6 ship in-game as part of the process, a-la T1~5 chits, or will these be Zen/DILGRINDOFTHEGODS only?

Hell I'd settle for just one per account (but one per character would be ideal).
Especially if "have" is putting a large HP and mark difference vs "have not", which was significant but not insurmountable with the 10% of T5>>Fleet.

We know there'll be upgrades and 6.5s by what, xmas?, anyways!

THANK YOU!!! It's not only me!

Seriously, it's like Cryptic would rather be designing another game. The Dyson ships look nothing like Starfleet ships. They are like Tron and an iPod had a wild night together in Reno. And the new Tier 6 Starfleet (I use that term loosely) looks more like a spatula with 4 handles, than a Federation Starship.

Our ground weapons have Tron-glowies on them.

We carry Clone Trooper assault cannons.

We fly enemy ships more than our own.

The uniform code was thrown out, so that ESD looks more like Pioneer Courthouse Square when packed full of protesting wacko hippies than a Starfleet installation.

We shoot to kill. Then shoot some more. And some more. And a few more times for good measure.

It boggles the mind sometimes how this game can manage to hang on to the Star Trek logo on it's product.

Some sections sounded good like unlocking extra damage and hull strength as you get better with the ship after all scotty and laforge would have always been doing that to improve the ship. But what bugs me is it sounds like a rep system or like a crafting system to get ship skills that you can only get with a T6 ship. Let me make this clear I don't want some ugly little futuristic ship like the Dyson I want Canon ships The Galaxy Defiant and Intrepid classes are what a lot of people like flying for Feds BOPs, Vorchas for KDF and T'vas and Big DD and Scimitar romulan and these are the ships that are in the show and movies. These ones we see in game like the Dyson may have good stats but make me feel like i'm playing a generic space game with Star Trek ships and to be honest there is enough games like that out there already.

Here is some constructive feedback offer the lvling system to all ships not just to tier 6 ships. I know you want to raise money but a lot who play this game are Star Trek fans and want to fly the ships from the shows allow us to use any ships we want to be and only allow us to unlock ships at a certain level ie. the stating ship lvls when you do but when you reach the next rang unlock the next tier of ships but allow to use the starter ship with the new lvl and make it competitive. People will still buy the new ships but is allows us fans to play with what we want and not be left using craptic ships.

My personal theory (for a long time actually) is that Cryptic tries to distance more and more from the iconography of the IP so in case the license gets pulled they just need to brush over a few things and can keep the game running.

Also, if you look at the very basic fundamentals of this game, everybody knew that this would never do Star Trek justice but feels really more like a freelancer spacefighter game with all the ship swapping on-the-fly and nonsensical skills and such.

That blog forgot to answer the question several of us have been asking ever since we first heard about T6 ships. I exclusively use Lockbox/Lobi ships, and nothing else. Will they be upgraded to match, or are we going to be forced into buying new ships entirely? I know someone mentioned the Bugship being upgraded, but I have yet to find any official blog or writing that substantiate this.

And for that matter, what about all of the Mk XII fleet weapons that I spent so much to buy for my ships? Will that be upgraded to Mk XIV too?
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

The Fed ships are the ugliest things I've seen. I hope they get a new artist, because all the Cryptic made Fed ships have been ugly as Hell.

As far as ships go, if they just made T6 variants to purchase yet again of the big 3 ships (Galaxy, Defiant, and Intrepid) that could use classic skins, that would be the best case scenario. Cryptic gets my money, and I get the classic, beautiful ships at T6.

With the release of Star Trek Online: Delta Rising, this starship (either from this run of the promotion or from previous runs) will be upgradeable to Tier 6 starship capabilities at no cost.

Lol. I watched as the dev blog came out and yhe price of ships on the exchange just drop. Its like everyone knows that all other ships regardless of the upgrade is going to be severely lacking to the T6s. Its like there is T6s and everything else has been lowered to a novelty ship like the mirror ships.

Hence the different font. That makes it an obvious EDIT tag. But as for all the other Lockbox/Lobi ships, exactly like any military or legal issue, ALWAYS get it in writing. If it not in written form, it does not exist.

It's quite clear to me: Not every tier 6 ship will have these specialist seats, but all of the initial ones being released in the expansion do.

My interpretation of that passage is different. They seemed to be aiming for precision, but instead wound up being unclear. (I notice that lawyers often do this too.) Here's what I think they were trying to say:

T6 ships come with an extra bridge officer seat. Depending on the ship, the extra seat may be Tactical, Engineering, Science, or Specialist. The abilities for Specialist seats come from an entirely new pool. All T6 ships have an extra seat, but only some T6 ships have a Specialist seat.

What is still unclear to me:

    1. Does "seat" mean an entirely new station or just one ability slot? If the former, then what rank is the station?
    2. Can the extra seat be Universal?

This is SUCH a bummer. I was super excited when I read our current ships would remain competitive. I'd be really, really sorry if I had to ditch my Heavy Escort Carrier because I love just about everything about it.

It's the main reason I actually keep logging into the game to be honest.

    Question for Smirk/Trendy/devs:

When the dev blog says "an additional console slot", does it mean in addition to the tier 5 standard 9/10 console slots? Will that mean that 9-console tier 5s will only have 10 when upgraded, or can we only upgrade their 10-console "fleet "versions?

I was just making sure they knew it was an edit - not just emphasising the point about the no cost upgrade to T6 specs as it could be read as by someone only seeing it for the first time.
