Interesting ideas about ship mechanics however I'm still very disappointed with the look of the federation whatever that ship is. It look like the Prometheus was flattened.
On the subject of the T6 ships, the word was that there'd be between 7-10 at launch. Is that likely to include new Lockbox ships? Since so far the only T6 ships we're seeing are the Fed squid-ship, the Rom Warbird and the Klingon ship.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Okay, what should I say about this? It's good information, but just like Edith Keeler's pacifism it's at the wrong time. I (and I guess a lot of other people) want to know how we will get T6 ships and what the differences between true T6 ships and the "equivalent" upgraded ones will be. And if T6 ships will be released slowly, one after the other like fleet ships or all at once. (Seriously, I think some C-Store ships still lack a fleet version and now you want to introduce a new system where we have to level our ships so it will actually be lost progress if we get our ships late?) Sorry, that raises far more questions than it answers. And the continued silence on the important issues makes me only more nervous.
Want to know how to get T6 ships? Unlock them in the game one at a time or pay $200 for whatever Delta Rising package Cryptic offers near release to get them all at once.
so basically T5 ships wont get starship mastery, specialist boffs, and these new ship fun things
I surely hope that this does not happen. I would not mind having my upgraded T5 ship having a bit less hull than a T6, but I do not see an upgraded version of the ship being competitive without most of these. A nice model would be upgraded T5 be T6 without specialist boff. It actually would fit the T6 can have have hybrid bridge officer seats, but its not mandatory statement.

Thanks Cryptic for introducing the Kelvin Timeline. It remembered why I decided to never more put any money on this game.

In before Geko's 'Nothing will be obsolete'. Quote.
Meh. Not enough detail on these new additions, though I don't think they sound bad. However, the continued lack of information on how upgraded ships will relate to the T6 ships is really getting annoying (ditto for existing MkXII sets and special gear). Fleet/C-Store/Lockbox ships represent a fairly large investment by players, and whether or not I decide to ever acquire one of them again is contingent on how they are being treated.
As a side note, the Fed ship looks terrible. I'm not a stickler on ship aesthetics, but that thing looks like it came out of a bizarro-world Fed shipyard. I really hope you can reskin it with more traditional looking Fed designs.
Its important to note that while these ships dont always feature a Specialist Bridge Officer seat,
So not all of the T6 ships will have these special bridge officer seats. Got it.
all of the Tier 6 ships launching with Delta Rising will feature at least one of these special seats.
Except that they do.
Q: Whats up with all the {REDACTED}?!
A: Were committed to revealing everything regarding Delta Rising (except the story). All will be revealed in time. Stay tuned, more will be revealed over the coming weeks.
I would love to have a job where revealing vague, intentionally mysterious info consists entirely of revealing things we more than likely assumed already in addition to plainly stating there's more mysterious info.
I also like how the major hot button issue is the extremely obvious point of contention in regards to T5/T5.5 ships and their competitive nature with T6 ships.
But PWE/Cryptic is still really not willing to cool off that rhetoric and is still willing to shoot themselves in the foot by having their ship sales suffer as people are afraid of whether or not they'll be obsolete.
That whole "We will take care of you." thing was a nice gesture, but I'm not going to insult your company's intelligence by suggesting you simply aren't aware of the fact the most important dev blogs to publish first are those that address the immediate concerns of the playerbase.
Otherwise you're intentionally pissing off the playerbase just because you can.
One of these pools is a complete suite of all new bridge officer abilities, while the other is an existing profession: Tactical, Science or Engineering. It’s important to note that while these ships don’t always feature a Specialist Bridge Officer seat, all of the Tier 6 ships launching with Delta Rising will feature at least one of these special seats.
Why do I get a bad feeling when I see that?
That said, we’re not quite ready to fully reveal the new {REDACTED} Bridge Officers. You can expect to get a full reveal of this new type of Bridge Officer in the very near future! Stay tuned!
Translation: We're not done figuring them out yet!
the captain gains Skill Points. This allows the starship to effectively “Level Up”.
Tier 6 starships start at level 0 and progress to level 5 as the captain plays the game normally. At each level (up to level 4), the starship gains a new passive ability that provides a sizeable boost to a stat like damage resistance, critical hit chance, or hit points. These passive abilities are specific to the ship that has unlocked them and each starship within a given category shares the same package of passive abilities
Why do I get the feeling this is just rehash of the original Skill Trees where we had to spec into our ships?
Upon reaching Starship Mastery level 5 a Starship Trait will be unlocked. This special trait can be slotted into any of your four Starship Trait slots. This is a new set of trait slots that will be available to all characters upon achieving level 50. These special traits add powerful effects to your starship or your existing captain and bridge officer abilities. Since Starship Traits can be slotted, they can be used while flying any starship you own even if they are not Tier 6.
And these new gimmicks is going to control power creep by...........adding more power?
All in all, as expected. But I have a bad feeling power creep we experienced so far is just a tidbit of the power creep yet to come. So, guess STO is going to be like one of those Freeware Games where we 1-shoot everything? :P
i went ahead and let esd space know of the t6 ships business while i was adjusting my alts breen ship with disruptor weaponry. expect a large inflow of comments
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
So not all of the T6 ships will have these special bridge officer seats. Got it.
Except that they do.
All the Tier 6 ships launching in Delta Rising will have the specialist bridge officer seats. Some of the T6 ships Cryptic will release /after/ Delta Rising will not.
I'm still very curious about what's going to happen to our lobi and lockbox ships. I mean who is going to open another lockbox if the ship you can get out of it is outdated and not on a par with T6 ships? The BUG ship can't possibly be the only ship that get updated.... I hope.
All the Tier 6 ships launching in Delta Rising will have the specialist bridge officer seats. Some of the T6 ships Cryptic will release /after/ Delta Rising will not.
Oh. So instead of just saying "Future T6 ships after Delta Rising's launch"... they just implied it.
No, not specifically. It was however implied that upgraded ships would be "competitive" with T6 ships. Given the information we've just received that would have to mean some kind of 5.5-5.9 upgrade in terms of stats. Anything less would mean that upgraded ships would not be competitive in any real sense. Paraphrasing Geko, our T5 ships are not meant to become obsolete. After reading this news post regarding the features of the T6 ships, how could anything less than a T5.9 stats upgrade fulfill that statement?
Oh. So instead of just saying "Future T6 ships after Delta Rising's launch"... they just implied it.
I clearly understood what they were saying. I don't think they were implying it at all.
"Its important to note that while these ships dont always feature a Specialist Bridge Officer seat, all of the Tier 6 ships launching with Delta Rising will feature at least one of these special seats."
Uh.. no? All ships have a set amount of base health.
Yes but as you level up you could put points into Hull integrity and get bonus HP, So they sort of do up health as you level
Difference is this new system is ship specific, the old system applies to all ships

Gonna be pretty lame if there is only two or three tier 6 ships available per faction...
I surely hope that this does not happen. Yo, dawg. I heard you liked [REDACTED], so we put some [REDACTED] in your dev blogs that are supposed to reveal what [REDACTED] is, so you can read about [REDACTED] while you read about [REDACTED].

As expected. So now we have 11 Console slots. (6 Tactical slots anyone?)
Um, didn't they always increase HPs as you leveled up?
(I.E. upgrading to higher Tier, and Skill investments increase as you level up).
Why do I get a bad feeling when I see that?

T6 ships other then the ones coming first is what they mean.
Or what captsol said above.
Uh.. no? All ships have a set amount of base health.
wut he like totaly said
No, he said ship health went up. Which it didn't.

Yeah, it's a bit cryptic, isn't it?

The ships available AT LAUNCH all do. The ones coming later may not.
The upgraded tier 5 ships might just have normal BOFF seatings.
