I'm not going to delete or edit my original post. I don't mind being "that guy" in this case because it's really immersion breaking for me to see people walking around space stations in swim trunks.
What I really can't stand is all the people that continue to take advantage of bugged stuff and exploits in this game. They should be perma-banned.

Right, see, I'm with centersolace on this one. Starfleet officers wearing hodgepodge uniforms from all eras and flying around in Jem'Hadar DNs and Undine frigates? Perfectly fine. Klingon chick in a bikini? Immersion-breaking.
Do the terms "hypocrisy", "selective perception", or "logical disconnect" ring any bells?

Folks, being insulting, mean, trolling etc is against the rules. He is doing what he's supposed to be doing, pointing out there is a exploit which allows players to do something they're not supposed to be doing.

what gets me is i can look like James Bond any where........ why? because picard kills a borg on a holodeck in a tuxedo?

Right, "not supposed to be doing" for no well-defined, logically consistent reason that anyone can see. Outside of Foundry missions "immersion" went out the window in this game with the first lockbox.
At this point as long as it's not hurting anyone (as in, people actively trying to TRIBBLE over other players), I say "frak it, let 'em wear 'em wherever they please."
(Note, I'm not attacking askray for moderating.)

The hypocrisy is high here... My Orion toon is wearing Orion issued swimsuit, and they show more than the Risan ripoffs. So why is it wrong to have my orion cover up with Risan uniform?

Actually I'm pretty sure the tuxedos are based on DS9: "Past Tense", not First Contact. Same end result, though.

I know you're not attacking me :P And I may not agree with the point of sticking swimwear ONLY on risa (hell foundry missions, bridges and off duty locations such as drozana i could see but every where else newp) but it is what it is.

I once had my main wear a formal dress into a Colony Invasion. Basic idea was she was at a formal event and the attack happened. No time to change out. Kinda like what Lara Croft did in Tomb Raider Legend.
I wouldn't mind being able to wear swimsuits on your own ship, as... well... what if you wanted to go take a swim on the holodeck? Other than what happened in First Contact, everyone went to the holodeck in appropriate attire for what they were going to do. Maybe add a towel over the shoulders or an open jacket for when its not on Risa or something.
Not saying open it up for all zones however. I'm pretty sure any Admiral would facepalm if half the staff came to a meeting wearing swimsuits.
This! Their ability to outdo their own failures is quite impressive. If only this power could be harnessed for good.

I hate to say it, but there's still something resembling Starfleet Regulations. The hodgepodge of uniforms from all eras of Trek can be excused in a sense (and an extreme stretch) as they are still Starfleet Uniforms. Off duty and Merc gear can be explained as you're off duty or something. Formal wear for formal events. Swimsuits?

Yea... that one is pretty hard to explain.
An attempt to get more Orions on Fed side, and attempt to get Orions cover up on KDF side.
Or: Orion Cultural Exchange.
Stop thinking in terms of Starfleet, think in terms of KDF, and the answer is simple.

what about the Mirror Universe Uniform and Voth Armor? Not only are they not Star Fleet Uniforms, they're the uniforms of enemy factions.
Sooooo, lol well there's a bug or exploit or has been haxed who knows? But there was a mother grabbin' Gorn in neon pink & blue swim trunks on Drozana Station.
You are too late. We already know it since 3 days ago...

Develop/import the costume change aura mechanic from City of Heroes, first of all. Triggering a costume change should trigger something like a transporter animation or replicator effect rather than the hard swaps we have now, which look like choppy video edits.
Crossing into the admiral's office (the doorway where the waterfall is) or the great hall or part of Romulan command should be what forces people into their primary slot. Not even a map wide effect but a volume effect. Party devices should also be turned off inside this volume. This could be setup on a case by case basis for certain rooms and offices. ESD IMHO should also have a quiet bar/roleplay space (an officer's lounge) where this volume is placed, as opposed to the "anything goes" of the main concourse and Club 47.
Well, Dixon Hill did show up in earlier TNG stuff.
also Kirk went to the Mobster planet. :P
I think A Piece of the Action was a big inspiration there. Particularly the party dresses and the pinstripes.
Though the bowtie option probably had some DS9 influence.
These would mesh pretty well with full Dixon Hill costumes (and it would be nice to see some period clothes for women that aren't just Star Prom miniskirts).
I don't know. Devs indicated some interest in Dixon Hill outfits with tommyguns before. It seems like some work has been done that direction since the Foundry has pool tables as an asset. (There are also old west assets that have leaked before.)
Trek has a fair amount of history with:
Mobsters/gangsters/casinos
Old west planets/holoprograms (Enterprise, TOS, TNG)
Elizabethan/Italian Renaissance wear (Da Vinci on Voyager -- who I think was planned as more of a recurring character, Robin Hood's Merry Men, countless Shakespeare allusions and stagings)
Mid-20th century military (TOS, DS9, Enterprise): Area 51/G.I.
Romans (Mainly TOS)
Native American-inspired dress (Voyager and TOS)
So these five categories are things I think make sense as offduty wear in STO. And I could easily see culturally contaminated planets using all three, since TOS was originally supposed to be much more about encountering planets with parallel fashion/culture/evolution to earth. But outside of Miri's World, most of the planets wound up being a bit more alien and having explanations for the contamination -- or in the case of Voyager and Enterprise, humans in space.

Nothing that happens at drozana can be immersion breaking; it's the Eta Erandi Red-Light District. Or rather, expecting decently attired fully clothed people at a Ferengi trade station.... THAT is what would be immersion breaking.

Find a group to play with who agree to follow a theme, and stop caring about the (often literally) unwashed masses.

Wear what you like everywhere else.
Now that is just wrong.................................
So we should just be allowed to worry about ourselves and wear what we want.

As for immersion breaking that was broken by the devs a long time ago for me all them feds flying around in lockbox ships.
also Kirk went to the Mobster planet. :P
