    Well, I wasn't expecting this. Nice to see the 'Ships of 2409' refit idea is still on the table; are the other classes that don't have one yet getting new refits too?

    Pretty ship: my complements to the artist. :)

    Y'know, I was going to write out a post about how this complaining is silly, that the Fleet Patrol Escort going the way of the dodo is nothing new (remember the non-Fleet Support Cruiser Retrofit and the Kamarag' Retrofit? Pepperidge Farms does.), but I've come to realize at this point, the ragers will just tear it apart and call me a kiss-butt so... yeah.

    We have those voices parts for promotions because they had then available, no reason to why not recording those lines and the fact the Romulan equivalent rank is missing is a indication that is just that, also it would be funny hearing REAR ADMIRAL Tuvok giving the congratulations message when Spock given us the the initial ones and Tuvock would give the ones above his rank.

    Simply you have no point, I wish I didnt feel the need to point this out and I do feel I am relying to trolling ... unless you are that butthurt about this but still, you still have the ship you brought and its based on the Rear Admiral ship, this Patrol Escort doesnt vanish from Rear Admiral list ... its still there, the main difference is the new Fleet Patrol Escort, they could have saved themselves this issue by calling it something else, even if it was Fleet Patrol Escort Refit and left the older one in the system, of course then some people would complain about getting the wrong ship.

    So you are arguing that Legacy of Romulus did not happen? Let me know how that works out for you.

    You are acting as if every file is "proof" of anything, there are many indications towards Fleet Admiral rank, the ranks insignia were even found but oddly for the WOK uniform and the Temporal Uniform, not others.

    Heck even Mk XIV icons were found, still doesnt mean T6 ships or even anything of that coming the next season or the one after, they might come with the mythological PvP Season or the also mythological Crafting revamp ...

    What is it like to go through life as consistently wrong as you are?

    I mean I've been wrong on plenty of things regarding STO before. But I don't make it a habitual obsession to consistently and without fail be wrong or incorrect on almost everything I make a comment on.

    But you really go above and beyond the call of wrongness. If there was a Starfleet Medal for Conspicuous Incorrectness, I would not only nominate you, I would vet you and make it my life's work to see that you are recognized for being as wrong as you are.

    Do you ever stop yourself mid-post and ask yourself, "Wow, this Iconians person has proved me wrong on a number of things before, but this time I'm sure I'll get him!"

    Or can you simply not stop yourself from contributing an avalanche of false equivelancies and accusations of trolling? Is it like a burning obsession or desire that you simply can't stop yourself from giving me your ill-informed opinion, and then hide behind your accusations that I'm trolling you when you aren't prepared for my responses which are based in fact and reality?

    A few costumes and voice files do not an expansion make. How about you datamine the files yourself and maybe you will recognize your cherry-picked examples will be, as always... unable to compare to inconvenient things like 'fact', 'reality', and 'probability'.

    In the end, I know I am correct. And when it happens, I'm sure you'll pretend this conversation never happened, even as you're preparing your Fleet Admiral's rank pips on your uniform in the tailor.

    I do think they should update existing ones if people already bought the fleet ships though. On other hand though in relation to any KDF ships along with KDF fleet ships if they ever do it where we get c-store ships (not holding my breathe since its been over a year since they announced they would come out with a c-store negh'var that still isn't available) that if they add items such as this dual cannon that won't be on existing fleet patrol escorts they should get on top of fixing that issue before releasing any more like this even any possibility of KDF ships.

    At the very least if they want an easy temporary fix to this make the item unique where a player can only have one of these and put it in the dilithium store for 0 dilithium and just flag it as only usable on the ship intended. That would be better than making people go ape pooey :D

    I would welcome the idea though if they redid the b'rel to where it had a 5th forward slot for the fleet one that you could only use for a special b'rel torpedo in that slot that couldn't be removed like the cannon mentioned in this one. So that you could have a torpedo that worked well for the b'rel (with the canon red flash instead of being decloaked for 3 seconds since keeping enough out going damage you pretty much stay decloaked defeating the purpose of the ship). The idea behind this if you had other torpedoes on it that it would decloak you for the 3 seconds with those. It would open up more strategy if you could potentially have a decent torp specifically for the b'rel and also be able to do energy weapons damage when you decloak instead of having to go all energy or all projectiles with that ship.

    The other tid bit I have a problem with is a fed and kdf problem where as the galaxy, ody, and bortasqu' are the only ships of fed and kdf that have sets. Where as every romulan ship pretty much has a set available to any of their ships where only 2 fed and 1 kdf have that opportunity. I'm really hoping that this expnasion 2 is something with the new accord which would be great if it was a fleet of ships to hit c-store and/or lesser extent fleet store where for example a sovy and a negh'var had special new consoles where each ship has a different console but using account bound consoles for cross faction if you happen to own both of these ships for both factions that it had a "new accord set". Another anticipation if they ever did this would have been something like a nebula, d'deridex, vor'cha cross set that reversed the tachyon grid to instead of detect cloaked ships making a cloaking net that when ended could have a set that based on d'deridex and vor'cha to release that d'd grav well thing that contained an isometric charge carried out by the power determined by the collective auxillary power of all the ships that were cloaked as its ambush out of cloak power.

    Comparing the listed stats to my existing Fleet Patrol Escort, I noticed that I would be losing an active Bridge Officer. Before I had five active (1 Ensign, 2 Lt, 1 Lt. Cmdr, 1 Cmdr.), but with this, I would only have four active (1 Lt, 2 Lt. Cmdr (of which one is Universal), and 1 Cmdr. Granted, the layout lets me go deeper into the skills of one BOff, but I lose the passive traits that the fifth BOff brought to the table.

    To recreate my current powertray setup, I have to choose between one BOff with Space Warefare Specialist, and one who has Efficient. I can't keep them both without losing out on other BOffs. I also noticed that while that 5th Tac console is nice, I have to pay for it by shifting one from Engineering (again, this is all on my current Fleet Patrol Escort).

    And yeah, since I paid through the nose for that first Fleet Patrol Escort, I do kinda hate the thought that I'll have to pay full price AGAIN for the updated version of the same ship. Some confirmation one way or the other on that topic would be greatly appreciated.

    They could of made this ship so much better. Love the boff and consule layout. But instead of a fixed weapon that will have a fixed energy type, they could of just put a mid ship turret. Just an extra weapons slot mid ship that fired 360. But you could put any weapon in it. I.E. torps, beams, cannons. The idea isn't so far fetched considering that 360 beam weapons and point defence consules are already in the game. This could of spawned cruiser and sci ship variants. Ships with a 4/1/3 weapons layout.

    I wonder if since they aren't updating the existing fleet patrol escorts if its going to let you be able to obtain a 2nd one since usually it only allows one of a given ship class. If you can't they should give a discount or give anyone with an existing one before the blog came out the necessary fleet modules to get the new fleet version to replace the old.

    The Nicor isn't an Escort though.

    Cmdr Tactical Slot and high turn rate is an Escort to me. Maybe it's a "Destroyer".

    I belong the Classic STO church. There are only 5 ship types - Escort, Cruiser, Science Vessel, Carrier and Bird of Prey. (And Bird of Prey is basically a subclass of Escort - Escort with Cloak and universal slots) :p

    Both look kind of goofy, and yet nice.

    I mean one looks like a oddball version of the escort carrier, and the other looks like a degenerate defiant.

    Oh and I am assuming this built in cannon uses what, phaser energy type?

    And what is up with the recent 4 boff=5boff powered ships?

    every possible seating combination with 5 seats has already been done; they have to do it this way now to avoid carbon copies of other ship seating arrangements

    raptors, maybe, but a difference of several points of base turn rate and being able to equip cannons is not 'minor', by any stretch of the imagination

    Yeah, and they could've put all 7 slots on the front, and it would've been broken that way too. The point of having a fixed rear gun is to add something useful without adding to the forward alpha strike of the ship. Since most people stick turrets in the aft anyway, adding a dedicated turret slot would be the same as adding another regular aft slot, turning this thing into a Nicor clone at 1/10th the price.

    Different folks like the looks of different things. There's been more than a few thread that erupted into massive flame wars when two folks had distinctly different views on how a particular ship looks...

    As for it looking kitbashed - well - yes and no. It's a variant of the Patrol Escort, it's a Patrol Escort Refit. So it is going to have an overall model that can kitbash with the other PEs.

    Does the following look familiar...

    Assault Cruiser: Majestic, Noble, Sovereign
    Assault Cruiser Refit: +Regent
    Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit: +Imperial

    ...and now there's the following...

    Patrol Escort: Dervish, Gryphon, Hermes
    Patrol Escort Refit: +Tempest
    Fleet Patrol Escort Refit: +Maelstrom

    ...which of course leaves one to wonder for the Feds whether they'll pick the RSV or DSSV for similar treatment, eh?

    It also gets into the discussion of the Negh'Var Refit that was mentioned...are we going to see a third kitbash added for the Negh'Var Refit and possibly even a change to the Fleet so there's a fourth? Lol...I started laughing before even getting halfway through typing that...it's the KDF, meh, they just don't offer anywhere near the customization/kitbash/skin/costume options.

    Oo-kay... I was not expecting this when I clicked on the Galactic News Network.

    A few initial thoughts:

    - It's a nicer looking ship than any other Patrol Escort, IMO. And another ship gets a 2409 skin, so yay customisation! :)

    - OH GOD power creep. I'm actually a little surprised this is getting released so soon after the Undine lockbox, given how similar this is to the Nicor. Mayhap people would actually prefer to fly faction ships, and Cryptic's metrics refect that? :rolleyes:

    - The Patrol Escort of all ships gets a massive overhaul? I'd love to know the thought process behind that choice! People ask for buffs to a lot of older ships the years have taken their toll on... but this one's probably the least asked for. :confused:

    - The Feds get a third 5 tac console escort while the KDF still languishes with two unremarkable 4 tac console raptors? This feels like at best a repeat of the Avenger first, then Mogh debacle...

    - The Galaxy-R goes basically unchanged in its "reboot", while the Patrol Escort gets turned into this monster? Why did the Galaxy not get anything but a lackluster set bonus, if you're willing to do an "above and beyond" overhaul like this? Like, what even!? :mad:

    it' not the third 5 tact console escort, it's the first AtB escort and it also has 5 tac console...

    You miss the point. People could of used the turret as they saw fit. I personaly would of used it to complete rep sets without it compromising my weapons build.(Retatded unbuffable protonic beam/cannon) You could of had 360 torp, 360 dual beam, or 360 cannon. You could of made a cruiser or sci variant. If you were worried about an op alpha just make it 3/1/3. And you are confused a Nicor has a 4/4 weapons setup like a cruiser. This would be more like a Scimi but one of the fore weapons has a 360 arc and is mounted mid ship.

    It's actually the 4th 5 Tac Console...and the 10th that can 2x AtB.

    this is just the first federation one

    Capable vs. Able...it's the 10th that's able to slot 2x AtB1 or AtB1/AtB2.

    Just Fed...not counting non-Faction.
