Looks like little more than attention-mongering to me. I highly doubt a promotional character would be that defensive or antagonistic towards the community.
Not a very good teaser with it giving away who it was from the get go in the info screen. And the Twitter posts remind me of myself in my rant mode.
IMHO, they should've dropped hints for the upcoming content in game. Like changing the ESD character dialogue. Like that Ensign Caitian talking to Linnea.
My money's on it being tied to the Anniversary Event somehow, and my guess is that it'll be a Children of Khan featured episode rather than the long talked about STF.
I mean really, a Khan STF couldn't possibly be good anyway. WoK was basically a one-on-one battle of wits and tactics, and you can't really do that in a five-on-one DPS faceroll situation. An episode would be much easier to control and allow somewhat more personal writing, theoretically making it better story-wise.
Of course it'll probably be utterly standalone and not at all advance STO's plot proper, but it has a chance at shining on its own and that's not a bad thing at all.
The timing of the appearance while the devs are out, coupled with the nature of the posts (all of them, even the antagonistic replies, are tortured versions of actual quotes, most of them from Star Trek but not all), the rate of posting, the antagonism...
Nothing about this fits any past clever teasing strategies the devs have used. They do, however, match the strategies used by a couple trolls that have suckered the community in the past.

You're right, it doesn't really fit the pattern. But, at the same time, I'm not sure what we're seeing is outside the realm of what they would do. We're talking about a character that, presumably, is a vengeful arrogant pompous jerkface, and if Kestrel is half the writer she claims to be and the other devs half the Trek fans they claim to be, I can totally see them being borderline a$$holes in anonymous twitter posts so long as it's entirely in character.
Iunno, my gut still says it's legit, but as with most things in life and in STO, my approach is cautious optimism.

Agreed. If it were a tease he would be dropping hints here and there to actually make a game of it and attract positive attention. This guy ... he's just being derisive, spewing attitude and not quite deciding if he's channeling Khan or Moriarty while his sig is clearly talking about Amar Singh.
Something like this could have been a good teaser if it were interesting enough to hold people's attention, some variant of the playful/mysterious thing going on ... which this isn't.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
I feel like it's unofficial what with the random "Redacted" jab in their little info box thing. Either way, some kind of official acknowledgement would be cool.
The fact that Branflakes and Thomas are following the account lends it some credibility.
so what if branflakes is taking an interest or whoever this tom person is. branflakes coulda be there to make sure the troll doesnt go overboard by his way of looking like a "credible source".
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Or laughing at it all. Seriously, you couldn't make it look any more like a disgruntled perma-ban-ee than an account name that amounts to "Fugitive from the Star Trek MMORPG." Wouldn't "StarfleetFugitive" (ie, fugitive on the run from Starfleet rather than "on the run from Star Trek Online") make a bit more sense for hyping an in-game character?
If it's legit it's interesting timing, considering that on the 21st it was revealed that the captain in the show Tim Russ is planning to pitch to CBS is an augment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgRJWBB12GA

didn't like Gods and Men. Awesome concept. But poorly done.

Interesting teaser, though felt more like a movie than a TV show. But definitely dark premise for a Star Trek, wonder if CBS will bite?
I have no earthly idea what this is all about but I be the is an ex-Cryptic
even ex cryptic employees still has obligations to follow including one of those non-disclosure forms. otherwise he/she is likely to find themselves in a legal battle and possible prison time if the worst possible result happens.

EDIT: I get a real kick out of the absurdity of a so-called superior being using hash tags.

I don't see the value of trying to dampen other people's enthusiasm. I don't think you're impressing anyone.
If you're so uninterested, why are you posting this anyway?

Yeah, it looks like someone with a banned account, a penchant for over-the-top melodrama, and an insatiable craving for attention to me. -shrug-
(Oh [censored]! This could mean they've gotten the rights to JJTrek! )
Branflakes used to follow me untill i said he could'n... Does that mean that if I start posting random c*ap, it has creditibility too?
