For me, My issue apparently was caused by an option in the video settings in star trek online. The option "World Detail Distance" was set to its lowest setting. So I upped it and the grey went away completely. I just put it on the highest setting. So you might play around with those settings some and see what happens. But now I can finally play season 8 lol
I am having this problem as well. Tonight alone I had to exit and restart the game 4 different times in less then an hour just to be able to play. Hopefully there will be at least some acknowledgement of this at some level by cryptic soon.
As this thread has already been touched by a mod! (albeit a move between sections) I'll cross-link another thread with numerous reports of the same problem.
I like how in the KASE i just did all of the gates/probes were green squares, the valdore was a giant black square, my ship was a triangle, and my beams looked like sticks of light.
Would you please make this a priority cryptic, its happened to me like four times today.

This makes for real interesting space battles. Kinda difficult to fight with Dual Heavy Cannons when you are not sure which part of the white blob is the front of your ship!
So Cryptic knows about it and it looks like it's a problem on their end that they're investigating.

For me the problem crops up about every hour or so. it's already ruined one rich dilithium mining run because the laser sight never appeared. as noted earlier pace combat is weird, and ground combat is weirder as your enemy often gets a set of white glowing clothes.

I am also having the same issues but it goes even further that white/missing graphics sometimes effects my character select screen and even the main login screen after playing in game, not before. Once I restart, then it resolves itself for a time before returning to missing graphics/textures/whiteout and missing item box graphics. I have tried everything to fix it to no avail.
Still no word from the devs on this!

There is a memory leak, related to the graphics side of the engine. Not sure what triggers it, but I started gradually loosing textures until the entire screen was white. I had to alt-tab out and the game promptly crashed.

By the way this is only happening in the Sphere. I played my other toon out of ESD doing Fleet Grinds for two hours without an issue. Switched back to a toon in the sphere, had a crash 45 min in.
I am having the same problem. It usually starts in Drozana Station where I am doing Spin the Wheel for the Lobi. Other players textures will begin to bug out, going white and not displaying. When I beam out to my ship at that point space textures bug out too. It is not happening for me unless I am in a station. If I stay in space it never seems to trigger. I am using windows XP and an older Nvidia card.
Im pretty much getting this issue nomatter where i am. and my Rig is a 4000 doller gaming pc I just had built a couple months ago. My pc can run any and everything. I can run Crisis 2, Planetside, and Warframe, check my email, check facebook, have youtube playing a busta rhymes video in the background with 4 monitors all at the same time with zero lag.:cool:

I speculate it has to do with the new textures and the "material files reloaded" message. What we are thinking is the game keeps loading copies of the material files over and over and over without clearing the previous iteration until the memory fills up... and the screen goes blank.
Of course... I work in plastics, he's an HR specialist... neither of us are Devs OR computer experts. What could we possibly know? :P

I was fine on the Dyson Sphere maps until I warped out to sector space. That's when the textures started dropping.
Upon arriving at ESD most of the textures were washed out.
See last time it happened textures dropped as I was going from allied space to contested zone.
So it's not just happening in the sphere for me, it's happening any time a new set of textures has to be loaded.
This has NOT happened with my Fed, I've been around ESD and the mines without issue for hours at a time with her.
I am going to amend my guess... there is a problem clearing texture sets, something to do with a failure to clear a buffer when going from set A to set B to set C.

Yep same as what I'm getting, tried loads of suggested solutions but it keeps coming back, takes a while but it eventually hits no matter what I do.
