I'm still having this and quite frankly is making the game unplayable. It was fixed after the first time it showed up, but than after one of the next maintenences it was broken again and I've randomly having this issue since then.
Devs, fix this for heaven sakes this ought to be right at the top of the priority list and yet there it is, still in game after all this time.
First off, russellca great work on keeping the thread updated, the devs should have half your effort and they may get his bug fixed.
Dusted off an old klink toon, playing at off peak times 9 to 1300 GMT and got 3 hours with no bugs. Logged back on at 1900 GMT with a fed toon in ESD and 10 minutes later after 4 map changes got the first missing texture ( a glowing white uniform).
This thread even though it has more posts and views than any other on this board seems to be ignored by the dev, a couple of posts long ago and a faint mention on twitter......WTF devs do you not want our money, the amount of newbies asking if the graphics should look this way in the in game chat is getting imbarising, when you say it's a known bug and at the moment he devs won't fix it/don't know how, there usual answer is ' I'll try something else'.

Which I've already done sadly. I'm a lifer, and also love this game but I have to draw a line under this. Its broken graphically, they have ample examples as proof of that, yet there is silence.
So apart from logging in to set reps going, that's all I'm doing for the moment as the "texture lag" appears so quickly.
However I will make a formal request - PLEASE give your loyal customers some feedback. What's the progress? if any? All we need to know is that this is being taken seriously and time devoted to its solution.
Without that then I'm afraid, for me at least, Season 8.5 will be a non-starter. As I've said previously, there are other games out there that do not suffer this issue. I want to play THIS game not others, but for now the others have my attention.
I will not rage quit, I cant , I'm a lifer lol...... but I can choose NOT to play it.
PS: Russellca, as someone else has already said, nice job I really appreciate the effort you put into this thread.
Last night was a record. Logged in to set reps going. after just over 4 minutes I noticed, on the char select screen, my main toons ship was flashing like a beacon as textures cycled.
I also started noticing this issue as soon as the "new" "content" came out, as I've said before, the devs are the only people I've ever heard of who can make you a cup of tea and somehow cause a tsunami in a completely different country.

<groan> Don't start a 'Butterfly Effect" argument please ...
Seriously though, I'm also seeing this issue regularly, it seems to happen quicker if i load/swap several alts to update DoFF missions before actually playing ... So it seems the 'memory leak' that plagues all of Cryptic's games is still around ...
I think though that I've discovered a possible reason for it ... Maybe instead of that "You've been playing <insert game title here> for 2 hours, maybe it's time to take a break?" message, which people just ignore in other games, Cryptic have decided to just farp up the graphics after a while so that you have to quit for a few minutes, then log back in ...
6pm GMT log on, at ESD rep mark event on so,cat crystal elite, missing items from ui when complete, carry on, infected elite, return to ESD glow uniforms and most of inventory and ui missing, try breach elite, warp in to the biggest trip show ever, warn the other on my team that will try to carry on but can't use tray, all blanked, everything blooms, squares and only primary colours.
Return to ESD and switch off. They money that I had put aside for the Vesta bundle stays on my credit card......
Can we please have an update as to what the hell is happening about this bug from the devs......

Ugh, I feel ya on that one. Lost one myself to it. Only tip I can offer is to exit/relaunch immediately before you mine. It won't bug out that fast, so it will be safe. Shouldn't have to be this way, but sadly it is.
You can now add me to the evidently long list of people now experiencing this issue, which I only have whilst playing STO.
Perhaps it might be helpful to explain that I have only just started to experience this due to initially having very low settings and seeing low levels of detail, to having a driver update, my settings then set to a higher detail level enabling a much better level of image and detail quality, but this has led to my having these lost icons and eventual white-outs, usually after 2-3 hours.
Having experienced the higher level of detail that I was not getting beforehand, I am loathed to reduce my settings back down to the lower level and lose it. I would rather log off and restart the game. If however the interval between these white-outs reduces to a short space of time, then that would seem to be my option; to lose the level of detail that the game can provide.
My Graphics Card is an ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series, 256meg, running on Win XP with a 3.2Ghz processor and 3.25 Gb of RAM.
Could anyone affected report on what lighting quality you're using? If it's high, try it on low. I did, and the game looks worse, but it seems to get rid of the issue. I played for 3 hours without a problem.
I hate to suggest this because then Cryptic might not fix it. But it also might help them pin down the problem.
Also been getting this - objects don't show up in tray (but they are there), character clothes on other players go block white, planets/large objects surrounded by neon squares of colour, ships because blobs of white shape.
The game is becoming unplayable and this is a big issue. Why this isn't fixed as a priority is beyond me.
+1 Here
Tested a bunch of cards, all giving the same trouble after 1h at maximum, messed a lot with card and game configs and still no solution.
(G210,GT430, 9500GT, HD3000, 6800xt) on (Quad Core Q6600@Win7 32bit and I3 2328@Win8 64bit)
Some potentially interesting combinations there and always good to add another 64bit o/s to the pot. Is that all on both? If you haven't tried all the cards on both machines, could you please confirm what exact gpu+cpu pairings you've tried (e.g. G210 on the i3; 6800xt on the Q4, etc).
I will then be able to add them to the affected hardware configuration lists (aka - 'No way is this restricted to isolated client-side setups' lists!)
On another thread about the grind feast the anniversary event has become branflakes said that internal tesing of the mission on their internal unpopulated test server should take 2-3 minutes, this got me thinking......
Are the devs trying to repeat this bug on a unpopulated test server? Rather than the holodeck server? Is this why they can't repeat the bug? Are the dev team that thick?
This is a break down due to server load or routing between client update request on map changes and the holodeck server timing out so not delivering the requested updated textures. You won't find that on a unpopulated test server.
I think it shows the lack of response to this thread and how the anniversary event has been handled that the dev team realy has lost its touch with the player base.
Where ever you go, there you are.......

They might be "that thick" as you put it. The more contact you have with other players the faster the bug triggers for sure. High traffic areas are almost always where the bug begins to trigger, either in crowded orbit or on crowded station.
I had the bug trigger even with the lighting quality turned to low. So unfortunately I guess that can be ruled out. On the bright side, at least I can go back to the game looking prettier.
Ok most of the time the bugs i have experianced have be delt with quickly when i get them, how ever i've been having this since season 8 release. i came on the forums then and cryptic had in big red letters that this problem they were aware of and were working to correct it. its not as bad as it was then but its odd that it hasnt been fixed by now, as others have said this is something that should have been delt with by now. Not only can i not find cryptic's alert now but i'm obviously still having this issue.
The dynamic lighting on high makes the world of difference to the quality of image I see in the game. With it on high, I get the issue after 2-3 hours. On low, I probably leave the game before it occurs - if it occurs with it at low.

I use it as a 'smoko' or coffee break myself ...

i have used 2 graphics cards with the same result.
i have a 4.40ghz 64bit core 4gig ram and a hd radeon 1gb, it should cope with it easy.

I hate to suggest this because then Cryptic might not fix it. But it also might help them pin down the problem.
The game is becoming unplayable and this is a big issue. Why this isn't fixed as a priority is beyond me.

I had the bug trigger even with the lighting quality turned to low. So unfortunately I guess that can be ruled out. On the bright side, at least I can go back to the game looking prettier.
The dynamic lighting on high makes the world of difference to the quality of image I see in the game. With it on high, I get the issue after 2-3 hours. On low, I probably leave the game before it occurs - if it occurs with it at low.
