if they are using the same software as they were a few years ago, it may be because they are trying to use "updated" software and it may be incompatible with the rest of the game, as i was saying it would explain why 2 such unrelated things would afect each other, to adapt the new code to the old, they would have to run adaptations thru every single file.
Anyone seen kyledewit? Miss the mad ranter.

he is a 188 so he is not in game, i hope he hasnt gave up!

It would be hilarious if this only affected the F2P'ers. If it was overwhelmingly F2Pers that this is affecting, then it would be a major fail on the part of Cryptic.

Its not just F2Pers Im gold and effected. also there is a number of Lifers effected as well that have posted here.

I propose we start a new thread to air our grievances and discuss the rise of the order of persistence , with higher visibility so crytpic will be forced to answer us and keep this one purely for tech stuff. Where do you think a good place for this would be?

Wouldnt work. Some body posted up in General section and it got immediatly moved here when I told him Welcome to the lepers.

So the second we start a thread like that it will be buried.

Only way to get it out there would be to post on forums that have no association with PW.
    There fore no Dev involvement.

prehaps the season 8 patch has been written with a diffo, codeing system which would cause instability especially when the old code mixes with the new. they may be trying to gradually trying to put a new engine in place. seen somethin like this happen beforewhen programmers try to use a new system

I'm reasonably certain this isn't too far off the mark. It brings us right back to the main issue though. When you are making that kind of radical change you make the test bed as BROAD AS POSSIBLE and you test it thoroughly over a longer period than 4-5 weeks... dealing with issues as they arise on the test bed. I'm pretty sure all can agree that didn't even come close to happening. So... hey Bran care to answer the burning question of WHY?

I have been in since the last patch... having said that its horribly glitchy...the glare is somewhat painful My first thoughts were "its ...to ...bright ...here" to quote Slamek. I tried to run some team missions with a friend and I noticed that when he ran ahead of me parts of him seemed blank... but his pants rofl would disappear. He spent most of the mission trying to hurry me along...and I lagging behind so I could laugh at the "cheeky"new look... anyway the game is really not fixed from my stand point and ... what they have done I have no idea...

Okay and as to why some get in and some aren't... this is only opinion, based on 2 things... one the fact that in 10/3 I borrowed an older nividia graphics card and got in game a bit earlier than some of the others.... and secondly because from my best estimate having scoured this thread numerous times most if not all of those locked out still have non-nividia type cards.... notice a few pages back the poster down graded from an ATI card Pc to a nividia card Pc.

Okay I am no tech... but I think its entirely possible this is due to finding code that works with your cards... I also believe that being as they have nivdia as a sponser they had access to help from the company, on tap so to speak. They are probably waiting on assistance to come from other card companies to assist in a fix for some of the oldercards. I've heard that in recent years a number of graphics card companies have sold out, closed shop and changed over to other industry. Some have recently radeon, specifically have worked more toward graphics that work for tablets smart phones etc... So if my hypothesis is correct, this could be part of the delay... as I mentioned this is just my idea of possibilities...

PLEASE Do not go out and buy a new card to get a fix... they will find a patch... just for whatever reason its taking time...

I do feel for you guys... but I have faith a fix will come soon...

the answer to that I think is pretty easy. Money.

New content = more zen purchasing. Also coverage on blogs, twitter, expos etc... gets more accounts into the game which generates more revenue again.
Other big MMOs, and one recent one i can think of delayed the game for nearly 2 and a half years to make sure it worked before release, so it didnt alienate its user base as is currently happening here.

Cryptic has already deployed their crack team of specialists to deal with the situation...

Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse and Slimer.
    Unfortunately,...
Slimer quit and is working for me,
faithfully ejecting, my warp plasma 3.

If it is a simple, cold-blooded cash grab I can accept that (I don't think it's a good answer but I can accept it because that is what businesses do). Just treat us like adults and step up to the plate and SAY SO. I don't think that is too much to ask for, but that's just me *shrug*

Completely agree. I wouldnt mind as much if they said that either. Id just like transparency for a change, instead of the typical "we will update as soon as we can". Its nonesense.
    Your aware of the problem.
You should have an idea whats caused it.
You should be able to give an eta for a fix.

Its not hard to do that and actually respect those of us that have spent money on it providing them with a business and job. Stop mugging us off is all I ask for.

Well at least it's not limited to one graphic card. I mean mine wasn't great before S8, I could run mid level graphics until I got into something heavy. But at least it, well you know, ran. It's not like I have that much money to buy a top of the line desktop/laptop with top of the line graphics card. They don't pay gas station cashiers who go to college that much money.

First, Bran's job is Community Relations with us. The Livestream was not the place to air about this. All he can do is relate what the team working on this is telling him to us and if they aren't telling him anything new for him to tell us, it would do little to tell us there is nothing new. (This is also why I watch his Twitter feed). So no news just means they are still working on the issue (I know a few programmers/hackers and one is my little bro and they can be really OCD about bug fixing in code) and there is probably at least a few guys from the team in the office hammering away it or they are working in shifts at it throughout the weekend.

This potentially means that we may see a fix next week. I may have to give a friend of mine my login info to claim my tribble and instructions on my Zen so everything is there for when I return to the game if this is still happening Tuesday and I do hope that doing so will not get Cryptic angry with me.

These glitches are affecting a broad range of graphics cards, PC and desktop systems. It's not contained to just any computer setup or system. For as long as this problem has affected STO, it's painfully obvious that Cryptic either does not know where the problem is or that they have no idea on how to fix it.
possibilities are a thing of hope, sometimes it drives us toward something better

I don't see any infos or pictures anymore. As if there is a Database problem.

I had last used it before the patch and accessing it just now, I see what you mean. I can still access my fleet page, just not through the standard means. Example: http://gateway.startrekonline.com/#fleet(FLEET NAME)/

But yeah, my character are screwed up on Gateway, nothing.

Think what irks me the most is the lumping of in-game graphics problems being lumped in to this thread, which was originally for those who could not get into the game at all. Seems to me like if you experience any problems with STO, you get shuffled of to a padded room, locked away, and told to wait.

Some/any info regarding problem would be greatly appreciated as opposed to the rare " We're still looking into the problem." It's like being put on terminal hold without the repeating, " Your call is important to us. Please stay on the line and the next available customer service representative will be with you shortly."

The flow of information in the Crash of 10/03/13 was much better. Been there, survived that.
