Systems Designer Jeff "AdjudicatorHawk" Hamilton shares details about the process behind designing the Voth ground combat experience in this entry of the Season 8 News Dev Blog series.
I look forward to it all being stuffed into another cheap Lockbox real soon...

Dinosaurs with lasers is the last thing that comes to my mind when I think of Star Trek...
Seems more like Halo or Mass Effect, looking at the screenshots.
Do you ever not whine when you post? It seems that almost every post you make is a whiny complain post, and it's getting a little tiresome to read them...
On topic, I really think the design of the ground combat is really cool. The Dinos look awesome, almost like the real thing (or like what Spielberg did with Jurassic Park).
Advanced technology, beam weapon specialisation, personal cloaking devices, exosuits... specially bio-engineered 'hunter' and 'heavy' war beasts... Hm...

I'm sorry, guys, but the more I hear about the Voth... the more I want to find out which one of you plays Tau Empire in Warhammer 40k...
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
I wonder if Cryptic remembered they had a bunch of dinosaur resources from champions online and thought, How can we get this into Star Trek?
Even though I'm not too pleased with the idea of big dinosaurs with laser guns being something not of star trek, I'll forgive them if the experience is as awesome as it looks.
I just wonder about those voth beams though, they look weird. I was assuming they were a place holder graphic?

so is reading you moans :P .
on topic : is it just me or are the beams a little to thick ?
You are illegally parked on private property. You have 20 seconds to move your vehicle.
Lol as 1 person said on the youtube vid, everytime I listen to this theme, I feel like a child again... So now I am happy with T-Rex with laser beams... Oh hang on whats happening..
Theme tune just finished.... NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NO NO, theme tune finished I just came back to my senses!
This game is going from Star Trek Online to Supposed-to-be-rare Escorts and Carriers Online to... Whatever The Hell Devs Want To Stupidly Dump Into The Game Online?

You forget TOS had canon Greek Gods, TRIBBLE-in-space, Hippies-in-space, and a lot more ridiculous things :P Dinosaurs is nothing really
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
Captains, I encourage you to read the blog first, instead of looking at images and basing judgement off them only. The Voth bio-engineered these Dinosaurs; considering their history and origins, they wouldn't be bio-engineering dogs and cats.
I guess I'll be the minority here and say that I love this stuff. Dinosaurs with lasers, mechas, and Star Trek all together? I can't get enough of that. Love it.

Lol, yea... Starfleet bio engineered a giant catdog stuck a laser on it and sent it off to fight Dominion ground troops :P.
I just keep hearing Dr. Evil from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery saying: "You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now evidently my cycloptic colleague informs me that that cannot be done. Ah, would you remind me what I pay you people for, honestly? Throw me a bone here!"
Look I don't really play this game on the ground. So I can tolerate dinos with friggin lasers. As long as the space ships are cool.

This just confirms that you want a fantasy based generic Sci-fi mmo, that has very little to do with Star Trek

Are they going overboard with it? Debatable, but bio-engineering in general isn't that far-off from ST
Plus as I said in a previous post, episodes of TOS had far more ridiculous things than dinosaurs, and they were canon

What did you do ?! Don't give them ideas !
With the dino-critters though, I can't help but think that Teleios has somehow swapped universes XD.
