I know that, just look at the beta, faw spam with Marion and dem in PvE. Things get even worse when you get a team of 5 spamming it versus maybe 1-2 people using it. You need it to be effective for those 2 without it becoming OP with 5 people using it, hell, imagine 10 player fawball!
The problem with balance isn't just the power creep, it's the multiplication of it too. Take these cruiser commands, on its own on a team it's a nice bonus, and can be great, get 5 players each with a command (double up on the taunt for PvP for the resistance) and these fawballs just got a ton of boots.
I agree with Virus. I made my cute quip up above, but I've actually seen a similar thing to this a couple weeks ago. A guy in OPvP I believe said his hull just seemed to be melting out of thin air, and DEM seemed to be a part of it.
I tested DEM 1, 2, and 3 rather well, and nothing seemed off. So I moved on, figuring that there was some other factor added in, or he just simply was a squishy target.
Maybe that's all it is. I don't know. But I have heard a similar thing due to that guy, and now I've heard about it again here in this thread. So maybe there might be something worth looking into.
The OP should calm down, I agree as well, but to the others, it is wise to look into it a bit more than most of the 'x killed me, i hate it' threads we usually have. I have a feeling that there's either nothing wrong at all, or there's something that we haven't noticed that some other folks might have and are now using.
yeah, I've had that hull melting too. I'm not sure what it was; no one could give me a straight answer, but elachi DBB, DEM (maybe crit, IDK), BO doff, all bypass shields. For me it's been rare to happen, so I'm thinking it's some proc going on. It's just crazy having full shields with 4 fleet neutroniums and active resists on and having my hull melt with no damage to shields whatsoever. IDK if this has anything to do with the OP though.
Honestly I think FAW is fine but lame that it takes no skill now to beat an ESTF in less than 5 mins because of a DOFF, DEM, APB, and FAW. I don't think FAW is the problem though. It's the weirdness that comes out of overcapping. If it's a feature then make it one. It's hard enough to explain to a new player as it is. It's just another thing that separates the Knowing from the Unknowing.

I do know a build I use is a pure hull melter, and only does trivial shield damage at best.
My scibop torpboat (transphasics + GW/Tykens/Tractor) barely scratches shields, but it shreds hulls, especially now that if I subnuke off your APO and EPtE you are NOT pulling out of my grav well nearly as easily as you did before gravitons got their buff (and i have a tractor beam to hold you there if need be)
Not to mention that all of those shenanigans tends to help my teammates get a nice alpha strike lined up with a slow or unmoving target >=]

one thing I don't get is that my crit chance on my reman dropped from over 20% to 12% - did they nerf the stacking of crit boff trait as well? Superior op?
Having workshopped your post to try to translate it from whatever moon tongue it was penned in to regular English, I think you're complaining that you got killed with your shield power on 130?
Because, assuming this is the C&H you ragequit from, I was one of the people who got to make this happen. It isn't because anything's OP, it's just because you're miserable at this game. And because you're evidently terrible at recognizing that you've had your buffs stripped.
As an aside, you describe yourself as a "healer" when this happened, and then go on to talk about having 130 shield power. While I'll be the first to admit that this is better than your usual max-engines, impulse burst to safety build it's still not quite there. Still, I'd like to commend you for trying something other than running away for a change - with time and practice you might even become relevant to PvP in this game.
TL;DR: Everything's working as intended, getting space-killed is to be expected when you fight competent people.

There's threads still going asking for buffs. It shouldn't be surprising at all - not in the least.
There's a reason that so many folks have trolled so many of those threads saying L2P.
There's different skill levels of players in the game. You've got folks that are bored to tears complaining how easy an ISE is and doing it in the bat of an eye. You've got folks that are complaining about not being able to complete the optional in ISN.
Look at the build philosophy thread out there and the folks mentioning that part of their build philosophy is building their rigs to carry a bad PUG.
Think about the various nerfs to PvE content that have taken place...because folks found things to be hard.
Etc, etc, etc...eh?
It makes me think about one of my few complaints I've made in Ker'rat, lol...I moaned at Pulse for attacking me, because it meant that I actually had to be awake and couldn't play with my pinkytoe. He can do what normally takes 4-5 people to do, and he can do it in about a 4th-5th the time. The moaning wasn't that he killed me, used anything broken, or anything like that...heh, the moaning was that I had to pay attention - it was jovial moaning. :P
A little more...true groan...was regarding s7rike and his T'varo hunter-killer. I honestly don't think that it's right that the TDF can be used while cloaked: it's not logical to me. So yeah, I moan about that. I don't moan about s7rike having the skill to frag me without it - cause he does. Likewise, there's somebody else that's tried to run such a build...and...well, he's no s7rike - I keep telling him to talk to s7rike about it. :P
Different skill levels...there are folks that will complain about Willard - there are folks that just frag Willard. I enjoy a good death - outside of if something looks broken. I try to die a bunch more to it to see if it is broken. I ask about it (without the pseudo requisite hysterics that tends to take place in most threads). I try to learn more.
So beams...there are folks that are going to complain about them needing a buff - there are going to be folks using them so effectively that there could be folks complaining they need a nerf. Like I've said, the more we can get folks to put the hyper-excited aspects to the side - the more we can all logically and rationally discuss what's going on - to see where things are at.

Because, my only complaint was the desync. Others still have their complaints.
I've brought up a question about 100% to-hit happening with FAW at times. I couldn't recreate it. But it would happen from time to time - no changes in the buffs they had or I had - couldn't force it to happen. Nothing I thought was causing it, caused it. Then it would happen again. But then...it stopped happening, no patch notes of anything being changed - but it stopped happening.
Web Mines used to ignore all resists periodically. Haven't seen that in a wee while. Again no patch notes, but it no longer showed in any parses. Again, it wasn't something that could be reproduced - just something noted. Speaking of the Web Mines, skills didn't boost them - now they are boosted by things. No patch notes on that either.
There are all sorts of things...that change in the background without notes.
So for me, somebody having an issue either way is not really surprising - the hysterics is freaking annoying - but it's not surprising. Hence why I think folks that are actually in favor of having a working game should be interested in actual testing of things from time to time just to make sure stuff is on the up and up...hence why I sometimes wonder when folks go trollhard on somebody raising an issue, that it's more likely there is an issue and they're just trying to defend some sort of exploit they've found for as long as it lasts. I had to lol at that ISN comment, my fleet and I did it in T1 ships with optional because we got so bored roflstomping ISE in 3 mins. Too many one shot kills to try ISE in all T1 sadly.
Heh, I think we're going to see more threads like this with S8. If one takes a look at the new Tac Consoles, the math behind it, and what that means...yeah, I think we're going to see more threads like this with S8.
I had to lol at that ISN comment, my fleet and I did it in T1 ships with optional because we got so bored roflstomping ISE in 3 mins. Too many one shot kills to try ISE in all T1 sadly.
Don't get me wrong, I'll keep saying that I consider myself average at best - at best...but damn, pugging some things on normal...can be painful. Like with CC...at first glance, it looked like CCN would be faster if doing it just for the shard. Should be wham, bam, see you in 20 hours ma'am. I ended up going back to CCE because CCN was taking too long... /facepalm
Its the Marion DOFF, at the root of it all. Get rid of it or nerf it so it only gives a quarter of it's benefit.
Consoles that give anything more than a few percentage points to Crit Chance and Severity are OP.
Multi stacking Bridge Officer Tactical Traits is what's causing this this to happen.
Indirectly, this is the route cause of many OP builds. Not the bridge officer abilities themselves.
Too bad some of you guys crying "nerf this" don't want to look at the true cause of things. Get a simple spreadsheet going to calculate things and you'll see what's possible.
On the whole, Bridge officer abilities are where they are meant to be.
Cryptic has completely forgot the age old "Give with one hand and take with the other" method of balancing or to make the quicker buck, release the next most powerful console / ship / <insert here> and then nerf bat it.
Get a simple spreadsheet going to calculate things and you'll see what's possible.
Folks don't like maths!
Yeah, I've got my Damage Calculator spreadsheet, my Power Calculator spreadsheet, my Accuracy/Defense To-Hit/Overflow spreadsheet...they're all out there from folks that do like the math.
I had to drop the +DRR/-DRR formula into a spreadsheet cause it was a PITA to work with otherwise.
There's all the stuff one can do the spreadsheet warrior stuff with...then hit up Ker'rat, the queues, PvE, grab a friend or second account...test things out to see how well they can be applied vs. theorized...and tada...fun stuff.
I don't think that most realize how much some of the folks out there are actually holding back on certain things - you combine the way they put the puzzle pieces together (lotsa-lotsa pieces) with their abilities (actual player skill) and it can get downright evil.
It's not "one" thing - it's not "two" things...it's usually a collective group of things that for some reason the Devs didn't think a player would do. Heck, what was that thread where one of the Devs said they weren't worried about a particular thing because to them it didn't justify the opportunity cost to do it...and...uh, it's pretty much what folks did because it worked out far better to do so?
The more pieces that Cryptic adds to the puzzle, the more likely things are going to work collectively in such a manner that the "frontman" for the issue is going to get all the blame...when it's perfectly fine, it's all the other garbage.
Heh, my saying X is fine but it's all the other garbage...meh, I say that too much - but it's the way I see it. X is fine, add in ABCDEFGHIHKwtfever and X no longer appears to be fine. You nerf X, well - X becomes total garbage unless you're running the ABCDEFGwtfever...
...but honestly, there's the tinfoil part of me that believes that is Cryptic's goal.
Massively overboost something, get folks to complain about it, nerf the X, and make profit off all of the rest...in a cycle that will go around and around with each FotM thing.
its dem with eptw and thoose weapon power thing resist make beam build too much OP , well some Cvnter here, SS3 , AMS , 2-3 carrier with pets spam . maybe FBP lol, power drain ... but whats will happend to the Escort captin who have a limited option of counter .. oh and new console Naz showed ...

On the whole, Bridge officer abilities are where they are meant to be.
Other contributors are poorly designed defense, insane crit chances, tact ships with stupidly designed offensive and defensive powers. Lockbox ships being the best of the best while regular class/faction ships are chump.
Regardless the design is flawed for PVP in general. There is very little strategy with FAW builds. It barely requires any control in a team environment. Having control simply makes it more grossly imbalanced.
It's silly, it's boring, and frankly it's a slap in the face to the PVP community to use such tactics. It's hard enough to find good players and teams to fight without force feeding savage slaughter to newer players and even lesser players and teams.

Not when you need VM & TB & SNB etc just to keep an agile target in one.

I had to lol at that ISN comment, my fleet and I did it in T1 ships with optional because we got so bored roflstomping ISE in 3 mins. Too many one shot kills to try ISE in all T1 sadly.
It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.
Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

DOFFS+BO Traits+Universal Console Traits=OP Bridge Officer Abilities
Not
Bridge Officer Abilities=OP
Cryptic has completely forgot the age old "Give with one hand and take with the other" method of balancing or to make the quicker buck, release the next most powerful console / ship / <insert here> and then nerf bat it.
The new cruiser and I think a bunch of others are getting upgraded to have it....
-25% wepaon power drain aura (always on)
Combo that with the Kinetic Cutting beam 2 piece... who really needs marion anymore.

Hey, but if you're really fond of him...with the 6th DOFF slot you could keep him.
That is my opinion anyway.
