Instead, a suggestion. Brandon: next time a big pre-patching rolls around, would it be possible to give warning a day in advance instead of only a few minutes? For most people it's a non issue but for the few of us that actually do have to budget our bandwidth it would be nice to have a bit more warning.
Also, this should be in the main news section and not condemned to general forum hell.

So what happens to our characters that we tested with? Do we get a choice of a new one or continue playing with the old one
Your Tribble character will stay on Tribble. Unless they do a wipe, then no one will have any characters over there. When the patch hits Holodeck, you will have to make a completely new Romulan regardless if Tribble is wiped or not. Nothing from Tribble is transferable to Holodeck.

Very good point

The "huge" downloads is due to the way the Cryptic patcher works. It will list a large number, but it checks for differences and only downloads changes. It also checks for files from Tribble, which is why 6GB takes 5-10 minutes for some of you whom have played the new Romulan content.
I have a concern as I logged out first time pre patch started at great rate than I left my pc came back pre patch screen was gone -logged in there was a patch that started and worked logged onto character than logged out -pre patch started again slower rate and not even getting 1% it disappeared! is this meant to happen? Has it patched?

Yes, you're fine. The patch screen will pop up every time you exit now as it checks to see if you have the patch.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
My STO starts to patch correctly the first time, but stoped at 46% for about 2 hours so I closed it and restarted the game, now it always stops at 0% with about 2 MB downloaded, may it be overload in the patching server?
Nope. It downloads to a special "prepatch" folder, where it sits idle until its needed for patching. On patch day, the launcher will automatically check that folder and the two test server folders (Playtest and Beta) and move/copy files as needed. Whatever isn't already on your computer will of course be downloaded.
Thank you, I was wondering about this since I need to blow up some ships right now. Right now, right now.
Just totally disgusted. You had exactly the same thing happen when you put out the big patch on Tribble and you have it happen again when you go live?
That isn't acceptable, by even the loosest standards of quality control.
You've got 5 days to get the pre-patch in. Remain calm. All will be well.

I'm on limited bandwidth per month.
I won't be able to even risk another attempt for 10 days until my plan rolls over, in case it starts from scratch and just starts lighting my money on fire directly.

For some reason I had a few updates in just a little while. I log on get an up date, and then when it was finished I quite came back on, and another update happened, so I did that a few times, and finally stopped giving me updates at the moment.
Looks like I'm having a lot of patches its not stopping. I play for a while, and then exit it does some kind of patch, and then I load it back up another patch and then I'm able to click on engage and play. I then exit after a while of game play, and it does more patching, and I just keeps doing this. I'm not sure if this is normal or if this patch isn't patching correctly.

Same happened with me and at least 2 or 3 other people that have posted in this thread. Any attempts after stalling at 46% always hang after a small amount (and still 0%) has downloaded.
I was able to get past the 0% problem by deleting the piggs folder in Star Trek Online/Live/prepatch. Haven't hit 46% again yet but the drive STO is on was almost full so I deleted some TRIBBLE too in case that's related.

Let me know if this works since it seems an official response is asking too much.

Should I just let my computer sit for a while or can I shut it down?
Also why so frackin much?
Because you haven't been keeping tribble up to date so have to do it all in one giant patch. No sympathy from me :P
Kirk's Protege.
Even though the game does run on Windows...
Thanks

What happens on Tribble, Stays on Tribble.
You'll have to create a new Romulan once LoR launches on Holodeck.

Is this exit - patch, load patch going to be the norm until the official release?
