There are several fleets you could join briefly and politely to buy a ship from. Several of my fleet members have run of to Tier 4 shipyard fleets in order to get fleet ships and have been welcomed back.

You could, in theory; temporarily leave your fleet and join a bigger one. Get your fleet ship and come back again. It has been done.

I do understand the provisioning requirements for fleets, as a fleet leader I spend most of my time trying to balance provisions for things. (I would like an option to ration out fleet purchases for this reason as I have seen several members drain all the provisions because they had an excess of credits and dilithium but c'est la vie.)

Some fleets, my own included would be happy to allow that. (The one thing we do have a surplus of, at least for now is fleet ship provisions.) Some for a modest fee.

Any recommendations on fleets selling their Starbase Vendor services? I haven't had much luck locating them, and I'm interested in a Fleet Advanced Escort :)

Personally, my fleet is still working on tier 4 shipyard as we've tried to get all boats to rise together rather than just rush one agenda.

This being said, I know a member of my fleet who has said ship, so I will ask him and get back to you. They are around, you just have to ask and be polite and patient and I'm sure someone will help with this. Many fleets (even big ones) are resource starved particularly Doffs and Dilithium but also EC so these are good bargaining chips to bring to the table.

Asked and answered, multiple times. I am not willing to abandon the countless hours I've already put into my base, and I don't have 20 hours a week to devote to farming altso so I can experiiment with other fleets.

I don't mean you leaving your fleet, I believe you can actually get invited to another fleet's base and use their vendors. The provisions come out of YOUR fleet's stock, not your guests's base. Its not practical for access to all the perks at all times but it should be enough to get a T3 Defiant.

    Nope. Can't do that anymore.

As I understand it, this idea only applies for things like elite fleet weapons and other such things. But doesn't apply to ships.

Well then... guess Cryptic couldn't let us have any shortcuts could they?

Latest release notes indicate a far more potent use for alt farming officer reports.

This thread should be closed as with said new import the argument is null and void.

The Emperor isn't please with Cryptic apparent lack of progress for the Empire. Lord Vader is on his way

As has already been stated umpteen times. It's supposed to take longer for small fleets to get the resources they need to complete projects.

With the new patch you will be able to very easily farm fleet marks like there is no tomorrow by running short foundry missions. Ok it's not the console quickie, (it's worse in my opinion) but it's ridiculous with the extremely short cooldown.

I mean honestly, once again Cryptic have caved and pushed the envelope too far the other way. Not impressed.

And since nobody is arguing that it should take the same amount of time as larger fleets, this continues to be a mindless non-answer.

Some people like me are just fed up with fleets right now. Since they accept everyone and then they have people who TRIBBLE around in a Omega mark or Rom mark team game.

There are Fleets on my Naughty list for Chrismas.

(Risa defence Force) Had 2 members of this fleet in a Cure ground mission, and they played the first half fine. Then after the generators were destroyed they decided to take on argo by themselves running in to die and then not respawning finally logging off.

So I put this blunt Clean up your fleet memberships. If I see any Risa Defence Force they go on my ignore list. If I'm in any Omega mark or Rom mark team play. I know they TRIBBLE around untill someone logs off. It may seem stiff to black mark a whole fleet. But the actions of 2 of your fleet members has given this fleet a bad reputaions as far as I concerned.

    Thanks.

Post 195 read it and tell me what you think that means? There have been so many people who have argued for it to take less time or proportioned time in other threads. So many in fact the Devs are considering it. Hardly nobody.

You have you console quickie back. Go forth and rejoice.

15 minutes minimum is not a "quickie." Unless they relaxed the "approved" status on player created mission. The patch will help some, but it's not good enough.
    Leave nerfing to the professionals.

Help some? You run a 15 minute mission once every 30 minutes. Key point there is every 30 minutes. So playing for even just an hour a day and you still get more marks and dil than you ever did with the quickie.

Clearly this is not good for the Fleets of one and still requires effort but you get dilithium and fleet marks for running a mission a short mission. You can do this twice and hour so I don't really see the problem unless you are averse to actually playing content.

Less time across the board != the same time for all sizes of fleets. Try again.

Hi, I'm not sure it permitted to recruit outside the specific forum, but if you want, you can contact in-game @dertylon .;)

Small fleets were doing fine and progressing till the log in bonus was removed and then it stopped.

Sure Id like more features and things added to fleets and starbases, I was writing posts about this for years.

But when the log in bonus was removed it killed fleet progression and large fleets progression slowed to a crawl and middle fleets progression slowed to a snails pace and small fleets progression just died.

Cryptic knew this would happen and they didnt care. And people just wouldnt believe that removing the log in bonus would have this kind of impact.

Some of us warned that it would ... but we were not heard.

There are two ways to fix this and one is to reduce costs of progression and the other is to hand out a lot more dilithium and fleet marks. It used to be that duty officers were the limiting factors in progression. Now fleets are stuck on dilithium and fleet marks. Access to both needs to be improved or the costs sharply reduced.

The best and easiest way is to restore the log in bonus.

If you're seeing that, then you are not seeing my intended meaning. Let me try again:

Me want less grind for all size fleets.

The problem with less grind for all fleet sizes is that there is no new story-based content to occupy players in the meantime (UGC doesn't fill the gap). All MMO's employ grind-style activities to keep players playing while the devs generate new content. Starbase projects with artificially high resource requirements and fixed countdown timers basically allows players access to gradual equipment progression while buying time for devs to add new STO-code.

So yes, you can ask for instant gratification, but MMO's like STO are not likely to grant it unless new a content release renders the current content unnecessary and obsolete.

Nobody is asking for instant gratification, and grind is not content.

Im sick of the Cryptic fan boys saying we want instant gratification. Theres not a fleet in the game that I know of thats at tier 5. Even when you had the log in bonus and could get a reasonable price for the zen you bought it didnt give you "instant" gratification. It just let you get within site of the goal.

And hes right grind is not content....

And you know what ... Every game in America is trying to get away from grind except this one. Most games are desperately falling all overthemselves to build sandbox game play where players can choose their own destiny and do what they feel is fun.

Time gate / grind is old school and I dont think it will be around much longer.

Grind is oldschool? How? All MMOs have grind, they exist because of it. If they didn't, players would run out of things to do and get bored and leave. They have to have grinding to make people keep re-doing stuff to keep them around.

No, grind is not content -- but it is a deliberate time sink. Both grind and actual game content exist to consume your time. To get around both, all you have to do is stop playing STO and find other productive pass times ;)

You try to make an MMO without grind. See how long you keep players when people blaze through the game and run out of things to do.

I can tell you my fleet's development did not slow as a result of the removal of the "login bonus" as you refer to it. Its development was hit with stupidly rare food items/doffs that were hard to get and expensive to buy. That got changed as a result of threads like this, which I thought was reasonable.

OK, you don't want grind, what you call grind I call "Replay Value" You also don't want "instant gratification" sounds to me like you only want to play the game for 5 minutes a day and get all the bells and whistles that people who play for an hour or two get through (re)playing the game.

Seconded, make any game without grind and see how long people play it before it ends up in computer exchange.

Based on the quality of replies being posted here, it is pretty difficult to refute that:

"As Grind Length approaches zero, Instant Gratification approaches reality."

The hard part is finding a happy medium that satisfies all parties.

You're missing the point. There is no reason to make us repeat a small hand full of missions when they have so much existing content already built. Why doesn't every "episode" mission give 5-10 fleet marks and maybe 100 dilithium, for example? My beef is not only is there an excessive amount of grind necessary, but they insist on making us grind only certain things, which makes the repetetive feeling even worse.
