hmmm...thats odd...It appears that only the main patch server is down but the game server is active. I just pinged an address in the game server and I got four responses...checking a tracert now....

    at hop 15....
ok...hop 15 was timed out. but I'm guessing in this instance that would refer to the patch server. the hop 16 was the address I pinged. (208.95.184.103) the last good address was on a te3-2.ccr01.bos06.atlas.cogento.com [154.54.46.130].

    to quote my clientservercomm logs:
121106 02:15:10 15 Client[0 [NOENT]]: LoginServer link disconnected (208.95.184.192:7001). Reason: socket was shutdown(0:No error) (socket error 0: No error)

Well gutted. Only been back to the game 24 hours and this is definitely not good for someone returning to the game... Patches shouldn't be this much trouble and even though we've been getting feedback there has been no concrete information about what has caused this mess.

    Same here in Hawaii:

    Hung up at te4-4.ccr01.bos06.atlas.cogentco.com

If Cogentco is Cogent communications, then this is what they currently have posted for their network status:

Cogent Network Status Report Last Updated Wed Nov 07 01:52:49 2012 GMT

    Network Status: Warning
    DNS Status: Normal

Due to the widespread outages in New York and New Jersey caused by Hurricane Sandy, Cogent is experiencing higher than normal call volumes and wait times. For customers at our New York hosting center at 33 Whitehall, the hosting center is currently down due mechanical difficulties with our mobile generator. Generator engineers are on site and beginning their inspection; we have no estimated time to repair. Due to the failure of our generator no access is being allowed to the hosting center at this time. Limited access will resume after power has been restored. We will update our Network Status page to notify customers when they will be able to access their equipment. If you are an Off Net customer of Cogent in the lower Manhattan area, Verizon has reported wide spread outages due to flooding of their central offices that are impacting many services. There is no estimated time to repair. There are still multiple buildings in New York City without power that have been impacted by flooding. We are working to restore service as soon as possible. The master case for New York is HD5233575.

So this might be the issue..the hosting center is down due to generator issue and perhaps with the limited access on top of the high traffic volume only "some" people are able to get through.

Personally I couldn't care less what caused it. I want to know if, and especially when, it'll be fixed!

i have the same date and time on mine as well...

i wish i could have played when i was that young on computers lol..

Good point. I don't remember if it was late 2011 or early 2012 or what MMO I was playing at the time but a couple days after the daylight savings time change, the game had some problems connecting. (Daylight savings time ended November 4, 2012)

I would bet 1,000 GPL that the daylight savings time change screwed something up. My uncle suspects that's why there is a 96 hour wait to talk to a Microsoft person on the phone about getting his Windows 8 activated. He bought a digital copy and the serial key isn't recognized and it won't activate. There seems to be a high volume of Windows 8 users having a similar problem.

I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!! Sun goes down and it is totally dark at 6pm now instead of 7pm. And my dog expects to be fed an hour sooner than what the clock says.

Well. It's been fine up until now.. So I don't think that is the problem. And it surely does not explain why some people can login and are logged in right now.

ITs a shame you canceled your SUB because this will probably be fixed by the end of tommorow or it could be something completly out of the control of Cryptic (a network routing issue, why the internet simply can't simply have things rerouted one direction to a nother route is beyond me... you would think someone would have redundant systems). OR it could be because....politics....I think all the canidates are jerks...

I've updated the thread a few times and will continue if there are new developments. There are still players in-game, and logging in, so it's not affecting everyone. The team is working non-stop to try and resolve the issue -- it's their top priority :)

    Cheers,
