This. I honestly don't like playing the console clickers, but I do it anyway because it's one way that I can earn Dilithium and Fleet Marks when I don't have a lot of time to play and I'm trying to fill in my DOFF Assignments for my alts.
Take this away and my ability to contribute to my fleet's starbase takes a serious blow, which I would not be happy about.

Although this feedback is great the sad part is that they will do whatever they decide fits their "plan"
I have a bad feeling that by nerfing the other dilth methods this quasi-exploit is going to become a "full-blown-alt-infested-exploit-of-epic-proportions" after season 7 launches
Why should you have any feelings about this at all? Why do you care what other people do in the game so long as it doesn't directly affect you? If that's how they enjoy playing, let them. I've certainly paid enough $$ this year to enjoy the game as I'd like. I don't see how others with alt-characters doing a daily round of click-fest would hurt me, or you.
The click-fest dailies existed prior to the starbases. Pre-S6 the dilithium/C-points price was skyrocketing. Afterwards it fell like a rock as dilithium became vital to starbase building. That change had nothing to do with the current conversion. If anything this lower conversion rate will help players acquire the nice new ships that are coming out
I can see having bad feelings about their nerfing the other methods, and that's what the focus should be on - their changing the existing methods for the dilithium detriment of us all.
As for their having dozens of alt-characters, well that costs Zen. Maybe that's part of their "plan".

You people really make me laugh - like my posting this I am exposing something they are not aware of: "you idiot - why did you have to go and let them know what we were doing!!!"
News flash: they know everything we are doing!
perhaps if there had been a thread like this talking about possible changes to dilth rewards in other areas prior to their announcememt, Cryptic would have taken a second look as to whether or not to go ahead with them.
Don't think for a second that they have not considered a massive influx of alts running the console clickers as soon as season 7's new dilth reward structure takes hold.
If you read all my post I am actually for leaving it in place. Cryptic is well aware of this quasi-exploit. I know several players, one with 60 alts that this is all they do + the lore to make more than 100K dilth a day. While they still might be the minority, come season 7 and the - well lets just call them interesting - changes to dilth grinding - this could become a full on massive exploit.
I think it would be better to talk about it and the neverwinter system that I am sure Mr Stahl is aware of - before this also gets hit with the nerf bat.
Only a few people do it because only a few people have the patience to do it. You won't see an influx of people making a tonne of alts and causing the entire game to die of dilithium poisoning, at best you'll see an inlux of people simply leaving the game.

I think both things are possible. As I said I hope some feedback from this thread will make them think about any other changes they have in mind.

Agreed. And as someone who has seen the foundry from its Alpha onwards I can say that a lot of player missions are pure TRIBBLE with buggy things that depend on a lazy none zerg play-style.
Personally I just give them (the Defari) a distraction so they can fight their way to the transporters. If they aren't able to get off in time before I open fire then its a good day for them to die :P
OP: Agree with the others in that the amount of time needed to farm dilithium by this method on many alts, you'd be better off just getting a proper job for a better return on your time. So no shouldn't be removed as chances are prices have already been set based on how much dilithium everybody can make each day as shown by the 8k per day cap.
If somebody wishes to make lots of alts to do this then they have spent money most likely in the c-store to get extra slots which is good for Cryptic. If they havent spent money then everything they have been doing is just getting recycled back into the store anyway to buy slots and as such is not ruining the economy. Seriously it is not an issue but a boon.

Ok well sure - point is still the same - there are people out there using this as an exploit and it will become more of an issue if Cyptic puts in the feature so you don't have to log out to switch toons.
Case in point what I just wrote in another thread:
First off Mimey2 is getting that info from me about the 60 and it comes from my thread about Cryptic closing down the console clickers - yes there is a guy in the KDF fleet I am in who has 60 on 2 accounts(stark is wrong - I think the max per account is 46 - but whatever)
right now it takes 4 min(daily+lore) per toon to cycle through each one so that is 60x4 = 240 min or 4hrs to earn almost 120,000 dilth per day.
Just for fun - I don't know if you would call it fun - more of a crazy thing he maxed all 60 with contaband and the report for a whopping 560,000 dilth!!! or 3500 zen in ONE DAY
One thing that maybe pushing STO to think about Neverwinter style of time/reward system is that they want to implement a system where you don't have to log out.
In this case my Fleet mates time to earn 120,000 dilth One-Hundred twenty Thousand Dilth per day could be reduced to as little as 3hrs
This is why I call this a quasi-exploit.
I will also add this to my thread regarding the officer daily - console clickers - that is really where in belongs.
However, I don't believe that the rationale for the Investigate Officer daily was to be a quick source of dilithum, I believe it was an attempt to drive more players to the foundry. There are some incredible missions out there...
Except this doesn't work.
Again it comes back to knowing your audience and what motivates them. People who want incredible missions are going to go play incredible missions and giving them dilithium is incidental. But the people who are trying to grind dil are going to go where they can get the best dilithium payout per time investment and the content it's attached to is the incidental part. Somebody who is trying to get dilithium isn't going to play through 3 hours of missions, no matter how well designed, when they can get the same reward in 1/10th the time doing the same poorly designed missions over and over.
If someone has many toons and wants to do this
I say let them, it's very boring doing it on 3 toons
It's so boring I don't even do it everyday
I got all the equipment I need most veteran players do
So
Who would this hurt the most removing the click
For 2000 Dil

Is that who we as a community want to see hurt ?

Honestly, if that console clicker mission set wasn't there, I would have forgotten about the foundry.
Don't get me wrong. A lot of good missions there.
I just expected, you know, the actual gaming company to put out content instead of let others do it for them, some of which were paying for the privelage before F2P.
Just leave us alone. We needs this to level our alts.
That is definitly not something Cryptic wants to hear - leveling alts with the investigate officer daily - console clicker??
This is a problem that Mr Stahl was complaining about - people reaching the high levels without even getting to the Romulan story missions. Wonder why he is getting all this data?
To put it quite simply, if Cryptic truly did not want people doing this then it would have already been removed and we wouldnt be having this conversation. The fact that they havent done anything proves it is not a priority issue for them, regardless of whether folks like the OP trying to stir things up.

This is a problem that Mr Stahl was complaining about - people reaching the high levels without even getting to the Romulan story missions. Wonder why he is getting all this data?
Let me explain something. I am a storyline player and I have different ships and classes for different alts such as a Borg character, an alternate universe character a Bajoran, and so on. Having to do all of the story mission except those that are required so I can get to the story content that I need, ie JemHadar requires near level 50 for my level 8 Bajoran would be a major pain. This evens things out for me and allows me to go back to those Romulan story missions at my leisure, IF the character's story I am developing calls for it.
some of us may want to take our sweet time going from 1 to 50.....not getting from 1 to 50 in a DAY or a few days.....ive been slowly leveling my alts on this....and its been a couple months lol...they would be higher if i wasnt on my main all the time .
I find this line of replies sadly hilarious. We put a lot of work into the massive list of fixes/changes above, and ya'll are hung up on the ability to skip our content. =p

LOL,
I accidentially did this with my ONLY Fed toon, once I levelled to 20 and could create a KDF toon I abandoned the feddie and only visit him to do the one-click daily and the lore. I even mail the lore to my KDF alt, and the Fed is now lvl 51 and hasn't left Sol since May, he's also in his starter ship. Oh BTW- he ALSO turns my contraband in so I can actually do farm missions on my KDF alts.
MAKE SURE you properly report my misuse of the Fed toon to the authorities, OK ?

Could you go to the KDF gameplay forum and comment on the Launch of the I.K.S Levi3??
Although I created my alts with the idea of having/trying different classes, species and to have different personages (a game is for me a story and the character in it a personage) I admit that I use this type of mission frequently to have easy 'money'.
What truth is here. Dilithium is money and time is money. We also can say that these type of missions aren't in the spirit of the game. It is not exploiting unless you define exploiting as bending, using game mechanics in a way they are not supposed to be used.
These missions can bring you some fast and easy income, but it is also as boring as hell and that is the main issue. Why do we have to do this kind of stuff? I like this game, I like to play it, but if you want to set yourself a goal, in most cases you have to commit yourself to some pretty boring tasks. An example, crafting, the data samples come on the fly, but the dilithium has to be farmed.
This is not only the case in this game, other games have it to. I cannot grind, I admit, not in game life and not in real life, too boring.
What I do is complete 2 quick missions and then the third one is always a properly written mission. Thing is I tend to go for all the diplomatic/text heavy missions as a nice alternative to the usual pew pew and they can last at least an hour, and this single mission easily earns the reward offered with officer reports.
It would probably be better if you had to complete just 1 mission and not 3, and they need to be at least 30 mins long - I'd be happy with that.
The vast majority of games have a 'daily bonus' of some sort just for logging in or for the first task completed. Especially grind heavy F2P games. In my eyes that is all this is.
That is definitly not something Cryptic wants to hear - leveling alts with the investigate officer daily - console clicker??

Between the Foundry wrapper, and the two academy lore missions, characters can advance about 4, maybe 4.5 experience blocks a day. I suppose there might be some people who are leveling alts that way. Of course, anyone who'll take 125 days to do it probably isn't in it for the alt-leveling in the first place, and those storyline missions will scale up to VA, reward and all, so they can still be done later.
That said, to put that particular issue in perspective: the Doff system will do considerably more 'damage' than that. A level a day from random doff assignments alone, easily enough. This goes doubly if you're a Klingon. They have a number of assignments that when critted, will push you up a whole level. Allow Warrior to Respond to Challenge for one. Twelve hours, can be picked up multiple times, 2500 base XP. There's several more of those, and they don't have that many levels to go through in the first place.
Dan's complaints, if he indeed has complained about people leveling too fast, are, considering his position in the company, comical at best. I don't disagree (in fact, I do agree levelling is too fast: Who in their right mind would still buy the pre-T5 ships for the two days of use they'll get out of them?), but it was his replacement who in an interview with some gaming site or blog lamented people being able to level up way too fast, giving an at the time outrageous assessment of how quickly it could be done, which they have since gone and made into reality: They changed the game so you went up a whole level with each storyline mission, and never even had to touch a patrol, fleet action, starcluster or PvP. That's what you get, Dan. You go to Zynga for a couple of months and the whole place goes to hell.
I've got 12 Vice Admirals and Lieutenant Generals now. About half of those were levelled mainly on doff missions, the mirror universe event and the foundry wrapper. Maybe more than half. I lose track sometimes.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

If Mr Stahl needs something worthwhile to complain about
I suggest the following
Character balance
Engineer
Engineer kits
Cruisers
Dps goaled content leaving 2 character class out
Lack of ship class balance
Lack of character class balance
Poor replayability of current missions
Lack of new regular content ( KDF )
1440 dilithium and cheesy xp gains on characters that arnt even
Played ? Hummus a break

Yeah but in 20 seconds you can net 1440 dilithium. This is big. It's so big that rather than simply type
Neverwinter is working on a system where rewards are based on time invested. Do you guys think this should be the system here?
It had to be
Neverwinter is working on a system where rewards are based on time invested. Do you guys think this should be the system here - and remove the console clickers?
Because it's the single worse problem today in STO. The game is so well made and balanced that all there is left to worry about is one foundry mission where you spend a game breaking 20 seconds making 1440 dilithium.
Was this intended? Nah. But really, are they going to complain about it like little girls? They shoved the TRIBBLE down our throat because they can't be bothered to deliver that kind of content to us anymore. They need to man up and live with the results. Or just take out the officer daily and nerf yet another method of earning dilithium and give us yet another reason to start thinking of greener pastures where our time might be worth being spent at. There's only so much the franchise name can do for players.
I don't like **** being handed to me but you know what? I'm fine with it when they nerf other methods to kingdom come for no other reason but to restrict dilithium flow. It was fine before but now it isn't. This is s7! We have to restrict dilithium rewards, maybe people will buy mo' zen to buy mo' dilithium. Yeah. Let's not ease up on STF drop rates, let's just design yet another brand new system because we can't make up our minds and live with something, with dilithium requirements, and toss on a dil fee for DOFFing, and nerf dil rewards from STFs, make sure DOFFs no longer are worth dil for dismissing and be sure you insult them with a 1 dil reward. Because it's s7. And this is Star Trek. They'll live with these changes because they're nerds. NERDS.

This is a problem that Mr Stahl was complaining about - people reaching the high levels without even getting to the Romulan story missions. Wonder why he is getting all this data?
If Mr Stahl needs something worthwhile to complain about
I suggest the following
Character balance
Engineer
Engineer kits
Cruisers
Dps goaled content leaving 2 character class out
Lack of ship class balance
Lack of character class balance
Poor replayability of current missions
Lack of new regular content ( KDF )
1440 dilithium and cheesy xp gains on characters that arnt even
Played ? Hummus a break
There are bigger fish to fry !
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
It had to be
Because it's the single worse problem today in STO.
NERDS.
