I have to say though, it bugs me a little to see people with Sep 2012 as their join date, who have been here for at least a not quite soild two weeks, are now sporting Starfleet or Empire Veteran titles. It's kind of hilarious and tragic at the same time.
Anyway, I don't begrudge people their shortcut. First post of mine in this thread I started with, "Look, I get it..." It's not your fault. It's the dishonesty on the part of Cryptic that gets to me. Every time again. You'd think I'd be used to it. We're told we have to do something to get something, and we do, and then the rules change. Time and again. It truly is not worth playing STFs anymore, cause you know we'll be able to buy Prototype Borg Tech on the Z-store for 700 zen a pop before the year ends. And their 'big gesture' toward small fleets will be a Buy Your Own Starbase Program. And all those guys that sank hundreds of millions of credits into buying Doffs and Dosi Rotgut and whatnot will rage, and a bunch of people who joined last wednesday will mock them and say they got what they wanted and why should they complain? It may take a while, but it will happen, and there will be no apologies, no semblence of understanding and nothing remotely like a compromise from Cryptic.

So, any plans to add new vet rewards past 1000 days? I heard rumors about it a while back but all I'm seeing now is, you get to a 1000 days, and have very little incentive to stay subscribed because you have everything.
So I emailed Cryptic to see if they can shed any light on the decision, and they basically said that since Lifetime Subscribers will get the perks eventually anyways they might as well have them from the start. It makes sense, but the way they went about initiating it (and the timing of it) was really a poor choice as it upset a lot of longtime supporters of the game. If they had done it at any other time (or even waited a bit past the 1,000 day mark) it probably wouldn't have been as upsetting.
That being said, I hope everyone is enjoying the new Vet Rewards! I really am enjoying the new ship. It's the most versatile one I've played so far and I really love the transformation animation.

I would probably think the same thing TBH - but I've only now transferred my account onto the PW system to stick my oar in before I leave STO and MMO's for good. I think they've said a few times that they aren't going to be initating them. Yeah, it's the death of the Veteran Rewards system, no more rewards past 1,000 methinks.
Though I do think I saw higher than 1,000 on Champions Online, I could be wrong. Might be a different MMORPG.
EDIT: Though an interesting note... only 983 Day Subscriber... the patch has hit, and I'm not getting my forum title for 1K Days. Maybe that is still linked to your actual days subscribed. Meh.

If for all that time playing the game was a pain and all that motivated you were the Veteran Rewards and the "need" to look special compared to no Lifers then really i do not understand what was the point for you to still play STO.
Actually, are you even playing the game? And if so, what do you care that other players get the same stuff you will get? In the end, you still win because you were a Lifer before many others and that means that you already play for less than 15$ a month for longer than the others.
How can you be so bitter? I understand you wanted to be the only cool guy with the next cool ship and now you won't be able to showoff to anyone. I know, that is terribly sad but get over it. No matter how many freebies devs could give to new Lifers, you will still end ahead just because you bought your Life sub long before the others. Is that not good enough?

I bought this game at launch, I bought into the trailer that showed a captain sitting in his chair, destroying ships and thought, hell yea. Man was I suckered. 45 day patch, hah.

excuse me? the only one wrong with that statement is you. there is nothing logical about it. common sense says that that a reward designed for people that are doing something for a certain number of days and then handing it out to everyone who gets a specific account, is NOT logical. for example, its a 1000 day veteran reward, not a 'I just got here yesterday, paid $250 and now i'm a 1000 day veteran' reward
giving someone a time based veteran reward when they haven't actually been here for the required amount of time defeats the purpose of having such a system in the first place. it also insults people paying monthly, that are paying more than LT people are in the long term

The main problem here is everyone thinks time equals loyalty/veteran. When it doesn't. Saying you EARNED your rewards isn't really the truth either. You PAID for those rewards.

Yup, it's much more complex an operation throwing a hull heal than deciding where to use the last of you repair parts while cutting power to certain systems to keep your shields up.

they can't even remove the references to Vice-Admiral 2 (level 51) and you want them to remove the references to the number of days on the rewards!?!? Don't hold your breath.
As for giving the rewards to LTS, I think it's great as it gives more value to the LTS package, they should have kept a few things for veteran players, like titles and skill point boosts that are earned over time.
But let's be honest, the only reason they're doing this is to no longer be forced into creating more rewards for Xday vets, otherwise we would have asked for more, and more, and more...
