MMOs have terrible public communities. That's a given.
Just listen to those people that you can click with, and save a few blood vessels.
I do not doubt for one moment the contribution of everyone who bought LTS, or even Gold.
I doubt those who buy keys with zen and kept the whole lockbox scandal afloat some time back, but that's my own bias.
What I do definitely doubt is that somehow giving the game more lifelines, when things are getting better and more accommodating to casual players (because that's the only way a game not EVE is going to survive), is taking something away from the Lifers?
200 dollars ain't cheap bro. 300 hell isn't either. A Silver is very unlikely to ever get one, so that alone is a barrier to title spam.
Non-custom titles mean nothing to me, so there's another bias there.
The "True Lifers" have 1 year, 2-year achievements that no one else has. That's your achievement, and I salute you for that.
But for things like ships, things that can affect in-game balance, those better not be locked away.
"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.
200$ for a ship in a (star Trek) game that spurns Star Trek ships in general?
Sorry, my sense of humor has certain limits.
The devs should do a lot more in order to make this game a Star Trek game before i spend 200 bucks for it.

Only in your opinion. IMO it is far better now than it has ever been. The mechanisms have been put in place to raise the revenue the company needs. The staff have been hired and they are getting ready to go with Season 7, 8 and 9. You will see the content, reputation system and further holdings with additional maps, PvP and sector space areas in the next 6 months. But they could do none of that without the financial means to do it. This year has been about placing those mechanisms into the game since it went F2P and now I believe they are ready to deliver.
If nothing has improved this time next year my opinion will have changed!
I've been here since beta, i've been promised a lot of things in terms of content, pvp, and new features coming with in the next six months a lot of which never happened. Not saying some of it won't, but Cryptic has a bad habit of making statements they can't back up which DStahl recent blamed on former employees in the ask cryptic.
There are so many better ways to get money as well as add more long term players and fans, that this really does seem like just a cheap tactic to make money in a short amount of time.
The real reason a few people here are so pissed off is that their epeen has just been castrated, they will no longer be able to sit in Sol in their exclusive 1000 day ship and strut their peacock feathers to an admiring pack of noobs - ffs grow up.
If you're using phrases like noob and epeen you really shouldn't be telling people to grow up. It has nothing to do with what you said, but it's more about Cryptic sticking to their word, it's about how disrespectful it is, it's about being fair to the gold members that aren't lifers, or how it's not okay to just put a price tag on something after so many people have earned it. Don't make things weird by talking about your imaginary bits and the castration there of, that's just odd.
I don't have any problem with new LTS getting all the rewards at the same time as there is no question the will be 'subbed' for that time. I do feel the titles should remain time based just to keep the achievement side of things, going to hold off using the veteran title for another 13 days personally.
Also at 1100 days gold subs should get the lib borg as a reward, fair play they've paid far more than I have.

Just another proof that you don't give a damn about player loyalty...
You at least could have waited another 100 days to put the ship up for everyone, so we had the ship for ourselfs for a bit. But no!
Haven't bought a single thing in your precious zstore for a while because you keep abusing your playerbase, and this move will not change that anytime soon.
This is what's known as an analogy, using terminology that is familiar to forums the world over. If I was addressing a business forum I would have chosen words from a different vocabulary subset.
Once again the point about Cryptic sticking to their word is BS, they are a company in this business to make money, that is their and ALL OTHER BUSINESSES only goal, to make money now and in the future. Nowhere in the Eula does it say you will be guaranteed to get X, Y & Z. It's a game trying to survive in an extremely competitive marketplace, this "it's not fair" and "we've waited so long" etc just makes you and others sound like spoilt little kids with no appreciation for how businesses or the real world works. Hence the grow up remark.
I wouldn't be the one telling people to grow up since all you have done is troll this thread constantly saying blah, business, blah money , its about business ethics and they stepped over the line, no respect for their customers who stayed loyal to them for all this time and get the shaft, would you like it if the government came into your house and took all of your things and gave them to everyone else cause they thought they were entitled to it all of a sudden?
How about putting MK XII gear into the Zen store ? Or pay to unlock all the accolades? Are you ok with that too just because it's a business? Do you not have any moral standards when it comes to things or is it just all about the money? What competition are you speaking of there is only 3 sci-fi MMOs one tanked miserably TOR, EVE is for the sandbox true freedom crowd, and Star Trek is for people who like Trek what other competition are you speaking of?
And as for this promotion this is like the NGE in Star Wars Galaxies all over again , TRIBBLE over vets to cater to crybabies who felt they were entitled to Jedi without having to work for it, dumb the game down, cause the crybabies thought it was too HARD.
I doubt those who buy keys with zen and kept the whole lockbox scandal afloat some time back, but that's my own bias.
Not only your own. I bet majority feels the same.
As I said before, I'm not LTS (yet) but did buy zen (used for doff rooster and inventory space). There is no way or chance I'd ever buy a key for zen or for EC and all those boxes that drop instead of real items I simply remove from inventory instead of putting them on exchange, being utterly disgusted by all those box offers I'm seeing there.
Bad business? Think whatever you want about me, but doing Cryptic's job by selling boxes to ppl who want them it's not moral and it definetly doesn't fit into my roleplaying style.
I'll never understand why Crypric invented the whole box/key idiocy instead of putting boxes in the C-store under "Pay2Win" category. And I'll support everyone who says that the boxes charade should be removed from the game. But here's the bad news - boxes and keys are totally offtopic here, this thread is about LTS.
This incentive is a slap in the face for every veteran gold member which is not a lifetimer.
My personal counter says 979 days now. Since then I am a monthly subscriber. This leads me to one question:
Where are the benefits for us loyal recurring paying subscribers??
We've paid already more money than every longterm lifetimer.
This is a Great offer - but adding a T5 connie to all the new LTS as a special ship just for them would be even better! Old LTS would need to re-purchase to be eligable:cool:

Every? What about guys who subscribed then bought a lifetime like me? Plus all the C-store stuff I bought.
The benefits you're getting are the same afforded to everyone who's paid for a lifetime or subscribed long enough to get a vet reward.
They want to provide incentive to buying Lifetime subscriptions as well as reward those who've taken a big monetary risk in paying 250 up front.
I was wondering why it took so long for the doom sayers to show up. All we need now is a T5 Connie post and we can meet our STO quota for over used topic posts.
Of course we're doomed that's why Dan is talking about stuff we'll see in Season 9 and beyond.
Yep, because season 9 will happen in 1000+ days.
Actually now that you mention it, that sounds about right.
This 'offer' really shows how much PWE understands the concept of 'subscribing'....PWE only knows F2P,and that means 'if you fork over a wad of cash we'll give you instant gratification'. PWE's F2P does have a striking resemblance to 'you'll get something without having to wine and dine as long as you have money honey'....
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!
Take back your home, end the grind!

I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, I'm very happy to get the rewards, on the other, I'm a little disappointed that Veteran Rewards don't necessarily show how long you've been loyal to the game for any more.
I think the early access to the rewards just swing it for me.
I have been playing for 958 days.Never went f2p,still paying. Now anyone who is a lifer, what ever that means in a video game, can get 1000 day rewards even if they just joined two days ago. Thanks guys,my time and effort to earn my 1000 day reward was just crapped on.Lifers who have been in game for a while maybe that should be extended to them, and maybe people like me,a month and change to go,hey why not?THE 1000 DAY REWARD HAS BEEN CHEAPENED! And wont mean anything when mine arrives now that this has been done.

Has anyone noticed that this will effectively end any future additions to the vet reward program? There is no point in adding a 1100 day reward if LTS' will get it instantly.
Moreover, while I am happy for my fleetmates who will now get instant access to the same rewards as me, it does make me feel like I wasted my time for the past few years as LTS is cheaper now and gives instant access to everything.

Dec '07 Account I EARNED 1000 days...I didn't BUY it! New LTS=Death to Vet.System: 10/10/12 Never Forget Something should be done for those who cared enough to have a 1000+ day sub.
I first heard about this in game but I thought to myself that it couldn't be true, turns out it is. I'm disappointed even though I have a LTS I feel bad for all the subscribers that have been here since the beggining of the game and had to wait for their rewards.
Now I just logged in to the game and now I'm a 700 day Veteran. It doesn't make any sense. I was just a few days away from being 300. Sure I couldn't wait to get the rewards but I was willing to wait just like everybody else. This doesn't seem fair. The LTS pay more and it's a nice thing but couldn't they have come up with something else? What about the players that keep paying every month: What will they get now? There is no reason to pay monthly anymore. Even if with this they probably thought that since people are a few days from receveing their 1000 day award they will keep paying it's still ungreatful. It may lead people to buy this and keep people in the game for awhile but, you still need those monthly subs. Give them something too, please. Make people want to be a gold member or have more restricted content for F2P that gold members can have access too like missions. I don't know... just a rant.
*Edit* Give regular subscribers something UNIQUE. Going around with a "700 day vet" on my character seems fake and colecting the rewards won't be something I was looking forward to if I had waited.
Of course we're doomed that's why Dan is talking about stuff we'll see in Season 9 and beyond.
I sit here and postulate what I'll be doing in the year 2100 sometimes. That doesn't mean I am guaranteed to be around then let alone tomorrow. Every day is a gift.
That being said I thought about this for awhile and I think it is ridiculous, especially to the lifers who have been around since day 1. I can be a complete newbie and buy a LTS today and all of a sudden I have all of the 'veteran' rewards a day 1 player has, to include a forum title stating they are a 'veteran'. Totally heinous. Cryptic, please go to Merriam-Webster.com and look up 'veteran'. Apparently your understanding of the term is on par with your understanding of other terms such as 'uniform' and 'canon'.
Concepts like 'veteran' become void when 'lifetime' itself nullifies the notion of progressed time, as it were. Seen from that perspective, the idea of 'hanging in there for X amount of time' becomes meaningless within that paradigm, as you are already subscribed for life upfront. Reasoned further along those lines, you could thus argue that you are effectively equally eligible to redeem your 'veteran' status at purchase as you are a 1,000 days later.
Wow, thanks for nothing! I subed from day one up to July of last year and bought my LTS then. Now a bunch of newbs can just buy it for cheap and get everything I had to wait for. Granted I was only 20 days from this post from getting 1000 days and was a bit happy about it. But now I'm ticked after reading what you've done. You now have shown that you no longer support the long term players at all by giving those who did not earn it or a have any right to it, up front, day one of their purchase. They all should have to wait period! I will not be changing my forum title until I earn it.
As for the ship. Was impressed, but now I will never fly it again.

Yes, they should be changed to 'Lifer Perks' or some variant of that, but to continue to call them 'veteran rewards' is now sort of exasperating.
