Levi I have opened appx 200 boxes for each set thats been released and this is the first time i've one a ship without using my lobi to get the recluse carrier so it really just seems to be the luck of the draw. The only thing I had noticed was at the time I opened the "winner" no one had won one for about 10 mins, so I wonder if a certain amount are appropriated for time blocks.

That could be a very likely possiblity. As they don't release any info as to odds or if they make chances to drop rates or odds at any given time they like - this type of gamble is as bad as a crooked table at a unground casino where they can hit a switch and move a magnet on the wheel.
That being said I have stated before that I don't have a problem with Cryptic making money to keep the game going. I bought into the lock-box thing knowing full well that they could change the odds mid game or manipulate the drops based on time or how many had dropped - or change the odds whenever they please. So in my case i am fine with it.
That's why unlike many others you have not seen a big long rant from me. I knew what i was getting into and accept the outcome.

I've never won any of the ships I had to use the exchange LOL. Although after the whole no cloak (was hoping for one on atleast the lobi store one) I might just get with my 200 some lobi that projectile thing in lobi store for my main b'rel EBC user. Funny that one piece of the set might be the only thing useful for me.
You may all deny it if you like, but this is not just a matter of luck, is a matter of "if the bag has or not starship"...
Many of you were here on the 1st Anniversary of the STO, you must remember the Q game...
Here is the same...
I repeat, if you have enough luck to get the small percentage to win the ship, the system will check first if the "bag of ships" has at least one, if it has one, you won, otherwise it will move to other bag with lower prizes.
This bag may be available by instances and are replenished by X amount of time.
BTW, if any of you have studied Six Sigma, you will know about percentages and why Six Sigma points to achieve 99.999% of accuracy, when you work with big numbers, 1% is huge, even 0.1%...
Check how often the ships are won, and try to get an estimate of box opened by player... You wont believe how big is that number... how to control that?
Can only really recall the significant 'gains' so:
1 Wells class Timeship (received from box 9 of the first ten-pack of keys purchased)
5 Mirror Deep Space Science vessels
3 Mirror Recon Science vessels
8 Disruptor weapons
4 Temporal beacons
3 Temporal Doffs
2 Console packs
7 Fleet XP boosts
Can't recall the rest - LOTS of doff mini-packs though!
I guess your post obout how you were cancellign your subscription was just angry ranting?
I am also a firm believer that the guy who claimed Cryptic would "Juice" my results caused them to do the exact opposite and made sure I didn't get it(considerind the massive views this post was getting) Either that our I am just very unlucky which is probably the case and much more likely than cryptic manipulating things.:( But you guys can make up your own minds.
Sorry dude, you should stay away from Vegas. Even more depressing was seeing the ship you want on the exchange while your desperately opening your boxes, and noting that the bug price is 4X the price of the Wells and NOT moving at all.
Least your expensive lesson is not a loss, you've saved ME a few zen buying keys for the expected year-end holiday box.
If you get the temporal beacon, you might as well have gotten nothing. I've done 6 temporal assignments, all with purple doffs aligned to the needs of the assignments. Even on critical success, I got blue doffs that are nothing special. There is a small chance of a purple doff. On success you get a green or white doff (again, random). The kicker is, if you get moderate success you get nothing, just CXP. I got moderate 3 times and critical 2 because the percentages assigned to those assignments are horrible.
These beacons are a joke, a blue DOFF on a crit? no, thanks, had several crits without a single purple so far, i hope the "adjust" the outcomes a bit.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

Thank you.
Well I hope that people who don't have ZEN or EC to burn got a insight as to whether or not to get involved in this lock-box event.
I still got 2 Temporal Destroyers and other that the monthly stipend I get of 500 Zen the only thing used up was my time in getting the resources to buy the keys.
I still have $300 million ec in reserve so I am not too "desperate"
On top of that i have ove $1 billion EC worth of stuff to sell If I had the time - but I am too busy farming now 80,000 dilth a day.
Could you two please add the number of Lobi you got from these? Then I could update the odd table accordingly. Thanks!
Regards,
Rachel
Sorry, I didn't bother to record the Lobi from the boxes. That list was from memory from last night. The Wells dropped from the 36th box.
I already had a sizable amount of Lobi that I've been saving up to get the D'kora consoles but instead used the majority of the Lobi to buy a Mobius and the 3 consoles for it. Think I have 145 Lobi left.
I still have 30 keys from a purchase of 200 that I intend to use on Temporal boxes and will post the detailed results here.
One thing i don't understand is how the temporal destroyer or and 800 lobi ship can sell for $95 million?
my results showed 5.8 lobi per box - so 800/5.8 = 138 boxes/keys
138 x $1.5 per key = $207 million EC - it seems like one hell of a discount since the other stuff you would get from the boxes would not make up the difference if you did not get a grand prize ship also.
And even if you did $95 for the Temporal + $100 for the Wells = $195 million EC
the math still does not add up- even if the other stuff is worth say $20 million ec at most that's not much of a difference from just selling the keys
The only reason i did this is as a pure experiment knowing worst case senerio I had Hundreds of millions in EC in reserve to buy the ships off the exchange.
I just don't understand the low price of the Lobi ships.

STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Could you two please add the number of Lobi you got from these? Then I could update the odd table accordingly. Thanks!

From the ones I've opened it seems like its 75% for 4 lobi, 20% for 7 lobi, and 5% chance of 10. Averaged out though to about 4.3 - 5.8 for every 10 opened.

Although the "min" is 4 - that is what you get more often than not - I got one as high as 50 out of 245 boxes
I think although they raised the min to 4 they may have lowered the amount of bigger drops
Not entirely. I sold the 2 Temporal Destroyers for 100 each so added to my $300 in reserve gives me $500 million ec in the bank - yeah I blew my 16,000 Zen stocked up from dilth grinding - but I was not spending it on anything and I will have another 2500 in time for the next c-store ship.
Maybe I will buy a timeship off the exchange later.

Yeah I am hearing a lot of people avg around 5 lobi per box - which makes the 800 Lobi price for the main ships INSANE - over $200 million when people are selling them for $95 now

The following table of costs takes into consideration that you would actually want and need everything that you get from opening the boxes (including each and every common DOff or single Loby Crystal). The prices are normalized, so that adding them up weighted by chance, would yield 112,5 Zen:
Analysis based on 245 Boxes
Temporal Science Vessel Starship: ~1711 Zen
Cross-Faction Starship Console: ~299 Zen
Mirror Universe Ship Pack Recon: ~398 Zen
Mirror Universe Ship Pack Deep Space: ~217 Zen
Temporal Duty Officers: ~184 Zen
Fleet Mark Bonus Pool: ~171 Zen
Fleet Credit Bonus Pool: ~120 Zen
Temporal Beacon Storage Device: ~66 Zen
Polarized Disruptor Weapon Pack: ~49 Zen
Gamma Quadrant Duty Officer Mini-Pack: ~42 Zen
Standard Duty Officer Mini-Pack: ~34 Zen
1 Loby Crystal: ~1.5 Zen
Again, this table only reflects the individual value of each item, if you actually want and use EVERYTHING the box gives you and don't throw items away in search for something better.
However, if you are after one specific item and don't care about the rest, the following table is for you: Analysis based on 245 Boxes
Temporal Science Vessel Starship: ~20531 Zen
Cross-Faction Starship Console: ~4008 Zen
Mirror Universe Ship Pack Recon: ~5344 Zen
Mirror Universe Ship Pack Deep Space: ~2915 Zen
Temporal Duty Officers: ~2466 Zen
Fleet Mark Bonus Pool: ~2290 Zen
Fleet Credit Bonus Pool: ~1603 Zen
Temporal Beacon Storage Device: ~890 Zen
Polarized Disruptor Weapon Pack: ~654 Zen
Gamma Quadrant Duty Officer Mini-Pack: ~563 Zen
Standard Duty Officer Mini-Pack: ~458 Zen
Average Lobi (5.5) per Box: ~20 Zen
As you can see from my previous evaluation, the numbers are very much in flux for the rare items. It makes a tremendous difference for the expected number of boxes you need to open, if the Timeship has a chance of 0.5 or 0.6 percent.

Rachel
Edit: Added values for time ship based on the report of two other users claiming they found 1 in 10 boxes and 1 in 70 Boxes for a total of 2 in 365 boxes.
Just checked and almost 11,000 views for a 3 day old thread that was regulated to the "Ten Forward" back of the bus section.
Hope everyone found it useful.
You could say that, yes.
I think it's been great that some of you have taken the time to post your results, and that they have been added to the STO Wiki (which I am looking at right now).
I have to say, that I think it's an absolute travesty that you can spend so much and potentially get so little, especially if it's a particular ship you are after.
If I had children I think I would be banning them from playing games like this. If it brings in the cash to keep the game going, then that's something I suppose. But what type of game are we getting to keep? There are Ferengi Maurauders, Jem Hadar, Cardassians and Tholians parked outside Earth Space Dock every time I go there. Is this really Star Trek? Does it really feel like Star Trek? Sometimes I just don't know.
Congratulations to those that get the ships, and commiserations to those that don't... I hope you didn't spend too much real money in the process.

As I stated the worst problem is not the low odds of getting the grand prize - it's the low amount of Lobi given per box (5ish) and the colloassal cost of Items in the store - 800 for the destroyer and 600 for the 3 piece set.
All I really want is the Wells and 29th century uniform. And this thread is making not wanting to waste real money......
Well, you don't need to waste "real money." Levi3 got most of his 250 Keys from grinding. I got all of my 150 Keys from Dilithium grinding. This is the first Lockbox which had anything in it that I wanted so I don't feel bad wasting my grind currency to try and get those items.

True, but then again you could have just bought 50 keys, sold them on the exchange and gotten 75 mil, waited a bit for the prices to drop and bought the ship.
