I just bought 100 Keys for 9,560 Zen, while the Keys are on sale. I still have 9,000 Zen on my Account and will have earned 1,500 Zen more by the end of the month via playing and my Stipend. I did not buy any of the Zen from Cryptic. Every penny of it has been earned simply by playing.

I can't speak for the person you're asking, but for myself the dollar amount is zero: whatever I win cost me nothing. It was all earned simply by playing a couple of hours a day.

I bought most with Zen from the sale - most of that earned in game - plus I get the 500 monthly Zen Stipend

I am not a huge fan of the past lock boxes but this one looks good + I am a big suppoter of spending money on anything that keeps the game going.

In total I have spent over $500 on STO and played for over 2500 hrs!! = 20 cents an hour

I consider that pretty good - a $5 movie rental at 2 hrs - maybe = $2.50 pr hour

The avg game at $50 these days you are lucky to get 25 hrs of play or $2 per hour

So all in all STO have been a VERY good entertainment investment.

I am highly tempted to increase this to a 300 key event!

I personally have no problem spending money on the game - on any game I like. I'm sure before FTP I spent close to $1,000.00 on STO between various box sets, LTS, C-Store, etc. It's just that since FTP I haven't had any need to buy Zen. Between my Stipend and my daily Dilthium earnings I've managed to buy every Fed thing I wanted in the C-Store each month for free.

Until I bought the 100 Keys above I had only purchased 13 since the Lockboxes began. The Temporal Lockboxes finally have some ships I want so I'm willing to spend Cryptic's money on them. If my Zen runs out well, heck, that will be a sensation I haven't felt in over a year. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Changed your thread title to show that this thread was not "Official" or created to provide feedback, or constructive discussion, but is here primarily for the fun of it, and for that reason it's also being moved to Ten Forward.

P.S. Good luck levi3! :)

Just a thought: this sort of thing might benefit from a spreadsheet. Google Docs and Office Online might be great options, since they can be shared (viewable, but not editable) with people with just a link.

I'd be willing to sell you some keys if you need em. (cheaper than the exchange of course)

You could have changed it to " The "Un-Official Temporal Lock-box Results" Thread - sounds much better.

But it's not too bad. I might make it 250 boxes as I want both the Fed and KDF destroyer and have 240 lobi already and would get 1000 min from the boxes but more likely 1300-1600

I just bought another 50 Keys, still on sale, so that makes it 150 for me. With my luck I'll probably get the Wells and Korath in the first 50 and then have 100 Keys I can't really use. :)

It's now "officially" 250 keys - which it will stay. That's more than enough insanity for you folks.

If a community Mod could amend the title please.

Oh yes, something to help maybe ease the burden of finding boxes:

Spending EDCs, salvage, etc on them. I know that is a great waste, but that was mostly to Levi if he has any of that, which might help out even a little bit to getting all those lockboxes. I won't mind dropping a couple rare salvage to give him a couple lockboxes (although I do wish you would get more than just one at a time).

Well in this case I'll remove the "200" from the title and then everyone can chip in their results if you're cool with that? :)

That'll open the thread up to more people and more discussion.

I didn't read through some of the pages so I don't know if it's been said, but here's my idea for the results:

Put them in posts of ten at a time like suggested.
Once you make a post for ten of them, update the original post with the ten before it.
Now you can have the excitement of seeing 'what's coming this ten?' and still be able to access the current list of results quickly.

I will probably pick up 250 or so boxes from the exchange when the price is deflated extremely. At the prime of each lock box's dropping time, prices usually drop around1-10 ec per box.

EDIT: removed a 0 from 250. I'm not picking up 2500 from the exchange.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

You should copy your character to Tribble a few times so you can get 1000 keys or so, and post those results. Usually, 1000 is a good sample size.

Its going to be a bit of a mess all day tomorrow - so as far as updating and totals on the original post I am going to try for the most boxes aquired and opened and results(lots of paper and pens ready to write stuf down). I can always go back later and edit posts and re-posts "See main post" later once I have gone through this massive amount of data and stuff.

For the first while I will just be posting 10 sets and then moving on to get more boxes until all 250 are aquired. That in itself is going to be the biggest challenge on the first day without blowing massive dilth. If they are only 200 refined, the first 100 I will definitly buy with dilth and see from there. I don't want to have to blow 50,000 dilth on lock-boxes that i have already blown a small fortune on.

My character "Jenny" has 250 keys in her personal inventory - so if i copied her to tribble - it would show 250 keys - how do I do it 4 times to make 1000?

Copy 4 Times. Have the other 3 copies mail their keys to the first copy.

It's all to much work - just copy once and that will give me results for 500(250 real and 250 fake) keys which is still a good sample size when the odds of the grand prize are supposed to be 1 in 100

do you have the link on the site where I copy to tribble? I have not done it since the tholian pre-season test weekend.

All past lockboxes have conformed to a .5% drop rate. All major tribble test runs used sample sizes of 1000. Given the low percentage of a ship, it could easily miss the first 500 opens, and stack up in (800 to 1000) out of 1000

http://sto.perfectworld.com/community/tribble-test

If you don't have enough character slots for four simultaneous copies, just copy one, put the keys into your mail, repeat, and then claim the mail with the 4th (or 1st, whatever) copy. If you send mail to your @handle only (so when you put the recipient, you'd put @<myhandle> only, no character in front of the @) any of your characters can claim items in that mail. Alternatively, if you have account bank slots, you could just dump them into your tribble side account bank.

Note that mailing and account bank using must be done by tribble charcters on tribble; the game distinguishes between the 2 servers.

Alright everyone less than 1.5 hrs until the excitement begins. Just a reminder that this is for entertainment purposes and my results don't reflect the odds of what you might get, of course after 250 boxes and I don't get a ship i will be a LITTLE disappointed!

Look on the bright side: as quickly as you grind Dilithium you can have 100 more Keys before the end of the month. :)

Not if I intend to finish Tier 3 in the next 2 weeks - just dumped 324k into Sci upgrade - the next 2 are the same and then the upgrade itself is even more!

I am slated to begin the shipyard construction in about 4.5 days
