I'm lobbying for that to be a 26th century Battle of Procyon V ship along with the Vor'cha, similar to the Mirror ships from the last lockboxes. (Which also means you'd see them cheap on the exchange.)
Since we saw the Prometheus there, it stands to reason there's a 26th century Prometheus.
Give it the hull texture from the Wells (with BLUE windows) or an Enterprise-J inspired texture (unlocked for all Prommies). Offer the same for the Nova (also seen in that 26th century battle). Give the Vor'cha the hull texture from the Korath (unlocked for all Vor'chas). Shake up the BOff stations. Maybe give the variants the option of using Wells/Korath style bridges.
That would be:
Temporal Cold War Advanced Escort (with an engineering bent),
Temporal Cold War Science Vessel Retrofit (with an engineering bent),
Temporal Cold War Vor'cha (with a tactical bent).
The idea being that whereas the Mirror ships swapped Tac for Sci functionality, these would swap primary and secondary functionality. Probably with a note in their description about how the classes proved useful in the 26th century more for their secondary characteristics than what they were initially designed for. Largely because the Nova, the Prometheus, and the Vor'cha were all seen there. (But blurry enough a new hull texture could be justified.)
I do believe he's referring to this.
Personally I like the Exeter-variant much much much more.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks.
I have never been a big fan of the Constitution-class, but I know that a lot of other people are. While I probably wouldn't use it, I am sure that it would make a lot of other folks happy.
As the Ent - C has been stated as being part of story I think that the Ambassador will come in via the C-Store. Also, with the Ent-C link to the rommies, I think the romulan ship should be in a the lockbox to accompany the storyline.
This leave the Wells and Korath to be available for the 1000 day vet reward. Mainly for the "time" that people have invested in the game.
This leave the Wells and Korath to be available for the 1000 day vet reward. Mainly for the "time" that people have invested in the game.
As others have posted elsewhere, the Devs have already stated those aren't the Vet Reward ships. In the Ask Cryptic DStahl states the Wells/Korath are coming at the end of this month. The 1,000 day Vet Reward won't come until Oct 11th.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
I suspect it's effectively a C-Store-style version of the Excalibur/Exeter/Vesper, minus the Connie.
They have to be looking for a way to bring it in at T5. I think they held off for a reason.
It's an iconic ship for the game, being on the box art.
My gut says the vet version will be a unique ship loadout and costume. 9 consoles. Special ability console. Packaged as a combo sci-escort ship, with a toggle ability that transforms it between sci and escort.
Will be available in a 10 console Fleet version without the vet costume.
Vets will get the fleet module discount on the Fleet version and an exclusive costume.
A similar thing will be done for a low tier Klingon cruiser.
That sounds rather interesting.
If this is true it actually makes me excited to get to 1000 days, as oppose to the dread of yet another normal ship
Remember the 1000 day veteran reward is a unique starship VARIANT. Not a unique starship like the Vesta or the Wells. This means it will have the exact same properties as a ship already existing in the game. Maybe it will come with a special console.
Realistically, the ship should be a true "multi-role" ship (possibly the Vesta?). It should be able to move as well as an escort, be as tanky as a cruiser, and be as useful as a science ship... but not all at the same time.
You guys remember how teh D'kora has that "defensive" and "offensive" mode? Maybe they could do something similar with the 1000 day ship, and have one ship that lets you switch between modes (out of combat) to fit your playstyle. Maybe something like the following:
A starship that can change between Cruiser, Escort, and Science Vessel would be cool where each configuration has a different bridge officer layout would be cool. Need a science vessel for part of an STF, then now you can. Or it could work with a could of Lt. Commander slots and a Commander slot. Not sure if there is a way to increase the bridge officer level of a slot.
Remember the 1000 day veteran reward is a unique starship VARIANT. Not a unique starship like the Vesta or the Wells. This means it will have the exact same properties as a ship already existing in the game. Maybe it will come with a special console.
They said (on Twitter? Priority One?) that it does have unique stats. That doesn't mean totally unique, mind you. It could just be a couple of ensign slots swapped or less shields and more hull or something.
Keep in mind, the Mirror Universe ships are also considered ships rather than variants.
So it could well be the stats of one ship with the model of another or, for example, a ship with the same stats and loadout as an escort but with a cruiser stat bonus and modifiers.
Different doesn't mean MORE. And like I say, could be something like a D'Kyr stat loadout with a Galaxy model.
In particular, the Venture/Challenger-type Galaxy version would be easy to make, come to think of it. It's the Enterprise-D Galaxy model, retaining its added nacelle phaser arrays from All Good Things and some minor tweaks.
I could see it being the requested "Tactical Galaxy." You know, ability to equip cannons. No lance.
Not especially dramatic as a vet reward and I can see the forums exploding over the reward being another cruiser. Might be interesting if they made it basically a 9 console D'Kora with baked in mode change and without the missiles power. With a tweaked Galaxy skin, though, as the D'Kora is a mighty fine ship.
If it has to be a cruiser, I'd want one like the D'Kora since that ship seems to play well for all three professions and can virtually become an escort on command for unlimited duration.
Realistically, the ship should be a true "multi-role" ship (possibly the Vesta?). It should be able to move as well as an escort, be as tanky as a cruiser, and be as useful as a science ship... but not all at the same time.

Or whatever "changes" would be necessary to effectively switch the ship between escort, cruiser, and science ship roles.
I think the Excalibur is best at that, personally.
I looked at the stat increases between the T1 Science Vessels and Retrofits (via Fleet Starbases) and do the same for Escorts. I applied the same percentage increases to the T1 cruiser (The TMP Connie/Excalibur/Exeter/Vesper). The interesting thing there is that the shields and hull wind up very close to the Deep Space Science Vessel and the Escort Carrier. Less shield, more hull, but not by much. The turnrate is a bit low (especially for how small it is.) The hull is much lower than any other cruiser even with the stat increase.
If you START by looking at shields/hull/turnrate/size, the ideal ship to refit for multifunction is that T1 cruiser because it'd be tankier than the tankiest escort or science vessel and probably suited to mid-range gimmickry and mobility. Exclude the TMP Connie skin and replace it with a new skin.
Not to belabor the point but after running the numbers, it seems like the only ship positioned to be a cruiser/sci/escort hybrid.
Less mobile than any escort but more mobile than almost any non-escort. Less shields than any science or cruiser but almost as much as any escort. More hull than any science or escort.
Looking at the stats first, it sure looks to me like it inherently has all the right tradeoffs. It's weak at everything but incredibly BALANCED, particularly if the turnrate got bumped up to 14 or so to be consistent with T5 turnrate vs. size.
It would benefit from both cannons and subsystem attacks and yet wouldn't be as effective as other ships with them if it had a 14 turnrate.
In essence, a ship that is deadly and versatile with skill, balanced towards the middle without skill (won't make you great but you can't be bad with it), and would be equally good regardless of profession.
Toss it a 3/3/3 loadout (or 3/4/3) and BoP style bridge officer stations (universal but one less power) and it would be the quintessential perfectly average ship.
You couldn't make a bad build with it as long as Cryptic made sure there were no bad BO powers and you could never make the best build with it.
Ever since I've seen the reward, I've been expecting it to be an Odyssey variant. They said the ship would have other skins, even if they wouldn't be easy-to-make/encourage customization (even though saucer/stardrive/nacelles/aft module should be possible). I was hoping this would be it.
edit: oh, and Klingons would get something with the Bortas too.
On October 24th, I'll be on my 1000th day of lifetime membership. Cryptic has decided to award us (veterans) the privilege of a "FREE Exclusive Starship Variant"
Would that be (4 ship modules) and we choose our own variant or you've made a unique, exclusive variant of a specific starship ?
A starship variant (most likely cosmetic)
A free starship slot (For those of you that just HAVE to collect them all)
An exclusive Forum Title
Cryptic and PWE, please note that these types of rewards do NOT encourage people to shell out 300 USD for a lifetime membership, or the equivalent of $0.50 daily in monthly membership fees.
Please find better ways to reward your Gold members than with beads and trinkets. This is not Manhattan and we are not naieve natives that you can fool forever.
Some possibilities for Gold member rewards, since I believe anyone who denegrates a system should have an idea how it can be fixed:
GOLD Master Keys - one free per month to all Gold Members - allows you to open 10 lockboxes of your choice. Latinum Series Master Keys - available only to Gold members with 500 days or more - allows you to open any number of lockboxs of a particular series (Each series key sold seperately) - available for the price of a 10 pack of regular keys in the Z Store Latinum Master Key - K Series - A reward at 1000 days - Bound to Account, so it can be traded across characters - Allows unlimited opening of all lockboxes released up to and including the 1000 day mark of the game. (This means that the K1 series released with the 1000 day rewards would open Cardassian, Ferengi, and Tholian Lockboxes.)
The Latinum Series Keys are purchaseable, but the Gold and K Series keys are not.
The Gold Keys have a limited use, but neither of the Latinum Keys do (They are permanent keys)
If you were to implement this in some form, you would ensure that your PAYING MEMBERS would be the ones actually grabbing lockboxes in the hopes of winning the top prizes.
Do as you will, but realize that the longer that these Veteran rewards are left as purely Cosmetic, the fewer new subscribers you will attract.
Don't hold your breath. You may as well ask the 1000 day vet reward to be a swimming pool filled with benjamins.

I really hope that whatever they give us it isn't the ship equivalent of the last uniform variant. That was very disappointing for many of us, and hopefully they took that into account. 18 days to go until 1,000 days is hit. I'm optimistically excited

1,000 day is roughly 33 months. With the game launching in Feb, 2010 that means October - when you count the first Feb as month 1 rather then month 0. As was stated above, the anniversary date is October 10th, but the Vet Reward will probably come in the patch on Thursday, October 11th.

I'm wondering if it might be an alien ship of some sort. Maybe a Romulan vessel since we'll be getting some new Romulan content in the next season. That might be kind of fun. As pyryck pointed out, 16 days until we find out! If it turns out to be a gold-colored Miranda (the equivalent of the uniform variant) I'll be really disappointed.
