*The Romulans take and stun the woman and are taking her away. *

Gyunei: Come stand up.. We have yet a debt to pay out.

    Romulan: What of the Chancellor?

Gyunei: I have yet something to do with him just yet after wards wipe his memory.

*Markon quickly grabs his dagger and stabs it into the Romulan's throat, before standing between the attackers and Wax.*

Markon: Honourless dogs! I'll send you all to Gre'thor!

Bright: Well having the Andromeda forces arriving soon we can drown the enemy into a nasty ground war on each world but I don't think we can manage that for much longer. But I do think getting Romulan support would be beneficial but with the regime in right now I don't think its possible.

Matt: Funny. I knew you were going to say that. Why does everyone think that Jorat's going to stab the Republic in the back?

Bright: Think about it. The Republic is bogged down in a nasty war, the Federation is a remnant, the Klingon Empire supposedly gave you a plague along with infecting themselves, you are going to be given the energy you require as enemies are taking down your only threat of an enemy. They are desperate enough for a cure as it is. Giving them only the means for destroying their enemies will result in such.

*Vulcanus, Pegasus Galaxy. Vulcanus is one of two Vulcan colonies in the Pegasus Galaxy and one of the most prosperous in both Pegasus and the Milky Way.

Unfortunately, as far as Vulcans are concerned, it's also under quarantine because of the plague that's afflicting them, the Klingons and the Romulans.

In the streets, some Vulcans are stumbling with green lesions on their skin. Others are trying to help.

In the nearby university, Soval sits in a wheelchair looking at a hologram of the disease.*

Soval: There must be a cure - something I am missing. What is it?!

    T'mar: Grandfather.

*Soval turns to see T'mar standing in the doorway. She's aged less visibly than Sam, though that's to be expected given her Vulcan DNA.*

    Are you alright?

    Soval: I am fine, T'mar.

I do not understand. Why am I immune when the rest of our people are not? It is not logical!

I must be missing something. It cannot be incurable! Every situation has a resolution! Why can I not--?!

T'mar: Grandfather, the Zhiyal's in orbit. They're ready to start beaming down the medical supplies. The Administrator wanted to know if you'd be there to greet--

Soval: Tell him I have no time to indulge in his politics. Tell him to just make sure the equipment I sent for arrives!

T'mar: He also asked me to tell you that the Zhiyal's Captain will be getting a tour of the university. Apparently, he's keen to meet you.

    Soval: I don't have time.

*T'mar looks at him, clearly worried. Sure, Soval wasn't objectionable about expressing some emotion, but this is borderline unstable.*

T'mar: You haven't taken your medication, have you?

Soval: *Silent for a moment* It makes me lose focus. Hard to concentrate on my work.

T'mar: If you don't take it, you'll never be able to complete your work!

Soval: You are so much like your father.

    T'mar: Meaning?

Soval: He also placed the needs of the few before the needs of the many. Human sentiment or Russian loyalty to family. I could never tell. Ryan always told me it was both.

T'mar: I'm placing your well-being first. All our people's hopes rest with you.

    *Soval chuckles.*

Soval: My dear, I fear you place too much faith in my abilities and too little in yours.

T'mar: I couldn't do this without you, grandfather.

*She reaches over and picks up a hypo before handing it out to him.*

    Now please, take the Korazine.

*Soval looks at the hypo, then up at her. After a moment, he takes the hypo.*

    Soval: Very well.

*He injects it into his arm before leaning back in the chair as the pain in his spine subsides and he begins to regain control of his emotions.*

OOC: Out of curiosity, what did you two think of my "origins" post with Tara (her flashback post where she tells Luke about what happened to Kenabi)?

    Infinity war room.

    Admiral Yuri
    Captain Brea
    Fleet admiral Harper
    Fleet admiral terrace
    Commodore s'tel

    All present via holograms

Harper: insurrections attacks are increasing. We can't continue to divide resources.

Terrace: we also can't ignore the threat hers.

Yuri: I do agree but the insurrection will prove to be a major threat if not dealt with and soon.

S'tel: I say we wipe out the inssurection then we can concentrate our forces to helping in the milky way.

Harper: agreed. We will return to Virgo soon. And begin cleaning out this rebellion.

*The Citadel. The I.R.W. Sela arrives with her 5 warbird escort. The flotilla stops a few kilometers from the station as Jorat and his bodyguard beams aboard.

The group is soon inside a large room with a small conference table in the middle, with R'iak present accompanied by 2 Republic security officers. Jorat bows to the ambassador.*

    Jorat: Jolan Tru, Ambassador.

    R'iak: Jolan Tru, Emperor.

    Well, shall we begin?

*The two sit at the table, R'iak pressing a control on his end of the table and bringing up a holo-map.*

Our government has agreed to allow you to participate in the Lanco III Gateway programme and to cede the Kilon System to the Romulan Empire.

Jorat: The Kilon System? My terms were for Dazon II to be ceded.

R'iak: My government feels that there would be greater complications with interstellar relations if we were to cede Dazon II. Kilon Prime has the same output as Dazon II and is just as close to your space.

Jorat: Dazon is Romulan territory by sovereign right!

R'iak: Dazon was ceded to the Republic by Praetor Tiberius 90 years ago.

Jorat: I do not recognise a treaty signed by a Federation puppet!

R'iak: With respect, that's not my problem.

    Jorat: I see.

    *Jorat stands and leaves.*

    R'iak: Damn.

Terrace: admiral bright this is fleet admiral terrace. A situation has arisen in Virgo that I must see to. But I'm leaving 4 battle groups under the command of fleet captain Keyes here. The situation with the romulans I'm told is unsteady as no treaty was signed and the emporer left the conference. I'll return as soon as I can. Till the Keyes has all the authority he needs to handle any situation here.

*Daros IV Shipyards. Daros IV has become the Republic's principle Capital Ship fleetyard, responsible for the construction of the Yamato-Class, many of the Matthew Neilson-Class and the Republic's new carrier vessel; the Allington-Class.

Matt is in a shuttle flying through the hundreds of drydocks. He looks to the pilot as a group of 3 Yamato-Class ships head out.*

Matt: We're really pushing out the Yamato-Class, aren't we?

Pilot: With the Eblisi threat, Command wants as many out in the field as possible before they restart their offensive.

    Matt: So which one's mine?

    Pilot: One moment...

*The pilot taps a control, bringing up a small hologram of a Matthew Neilson-Class.*

You're getting command of one of the new Type D Matthew Neilson-Classes.

Matt: 'Type D'? What did they change?

Pilot: A lot. They essentially overhauled the design to be more of a warship while still be a more-than-capable explorer. The Type D has had her main shuttlebay extended further into the ship to support Goliath Dropships as well as the Mjolnir-Class Bombers and Lightning-Class Fighters. It's also been given anti-fighter defences - based on your modifications to the R.S.S. Matthew Neilson during the Torros III crisis 20 years ago.

The Nacelles have also received a refit. *The hologram focuses on the nacelles. The warp grilles have been covered with a grate-like armour and the bussard collectors have also received armour plating, creating a recessed image.*

They've now been given improved armour coverage to help shield them from attack. Should protect the warp drive. Also, remember how the Republic once overloaded one of her drives and disabled the other from the explosion? This should soften the explosion and stop that from happening by confining it to the nacelle.

We've also got improved ZPBs, rapid-fire ZPCs, Tesselator Hull Shielding and Cold-Start Impulse Drive.

Matt: Cold-Start, huh. That was just in the experimental stage a few years ago. So the MN has a little more 'get up and go' now, then?

    Pilot: Yep.

Speaking of your new ship, there she is.

*Matt looks out to see the new Matthew Neilson-Class in drydock in the distance. As the shuttle closes, Matt gets to admire the sleek lines of his first starship command class for the first time in 5 years.

But as they get closer, the pilot nods out the window towards the name and registry.*

    Pilot: Have a look.

    Matt: Well...

    *He turns to the pilot.*

    Look at that.

    *The registry reads:

    R.S.S. Enterprise

    RSI 350507

The shuttlecraft does a quick flyby of the nacelles and Matt gets a good view of an EVA team installing one of the photonic anti-fighter cannons. The cannons are twin-barreled (though streamlined) with space for a micro-photon torpedo in each, fed by a replicator powered by its own MAM hidden away within the ship. The cannons can slide away below the ship's hull for protection when not in use.

As the hologram showed, the nacelles have a grating over the warp grilles and armour plating over the bussard collectors to protect them from damage in combat.

The shuttle starts its approach to the main shuttlebay.*

Pilot: This is Republic Personnel Shuttle Asimov carrying Vice Admiral Matthew Forrester, requesting permission to land.

Comm: Stand-by, Asimov. Transmit communication codes on secure channel beta.

    Pilot: Secure Beta, aye.

*He changes frequencies to the secure channel.*

Asimov, Republic Beta Command Shuttle 06, SHU-B02231.

    *He switches back.*

Comm: Comm code confirmed, Asimov. You are cleared to land on R.S.S. Enterprise.

Pilot: Cleared to land, R.S.S. Enterprise, confirmed.

*The shuttle flies into the 100m-long shuttlebay and sets down as a small honour guard is present. A security officer in the honour guard sounds the bosun whistle. Matt walks off the shuttle.*

    Officer: Admiral on deck!

*The honour guard snaps to attention.*

    Matt: As you were.

Look, I'm terrible at speeches on the spot. When I come up with one, I'll let you know. Dismissed.

*The honour guard breaks up and a Commander walks up to Matt.*

Commander: Admiral. Commander James Thompson. I was assigned to theEnterprise for the shakedown cruise.

    Matt: Walk with me.

*Matt and Thompson walks out into the corridor.*

    So how did it go?

Thompson: Well... it didn't. The shakedown was supposed to be tomorrow, but then I received orders that you were being dispatched here and--

Matt: Are you telling me we're leaving going into active service without a shakedown?

    Thompson: Yes sir.

    Matt: Wonderful.

Alright, I want a meeting with the senior staff in 1 hour.

Thompson: There isn't a senior staff, sir. We only have a Chief Engineer and Chief of Security, plus myself.

    Matt: That's it?

Thompson: Well, we were supposed to be on shakedown until yesterday. The decision was last minute. We only have a skeleton crew.

Command sent orders for you. I've had them sent to your quarters.

To be honest, it wouldn't have been much of a shakedown. Command's been keeping the Enterprise so secret that I didn't even know I was being given the Enterprise, or that it even existed, until I got here!

    Matt: Welcome to the club.

Okay, first things first. As soon as we're ready to launch, set course for Starbase 21. We'll meet with the 2nd Fleet there and I'll have the senior staff meet us there as well.

Thompson: Aye sir. I'll have your bags sent to your quarters and arrange for you to receive a tour of the ship in 2 hours. Would you like me to show you to your quarters?

Matt: I know Matthew Neilson-Class ships, Commander. Just give me the cabin number and I'll find my way.

    Thompson: Aye sir. 394.

    Matt: Thank you.

*Matt walks into the nearby turbolift as Thompson turns to him.*

    Thompson: And Admiral...

    *Matt turns to face him.*

    Welcome aboard.

*Matt nods as the doors close.*

OOC: Well, what do you think?

*OOC: Interesting. It was a matter of time but what do you think of scaling down the ships in size. It does seem valid idea. But Enterprise?*

OOC: Well, Enterprise is a famous name in exploration and war (HMS Enterprize, U.S.S. Enterprise, U.S.S. Enterprise CV-6, U.S.S. Enterprise CVN-65, Orbiter Enterprise (granted she never actually went into orbit and was actually named after the Star Trek ship, but it still counts, since it was shown in Archer's ready room), Enterprise NX-01 and the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701s) and the Republic is in that situation. Besides, there's no reason they can't have one. The Royal Navy operates a survey ship called the H.M.S. Enterprise even while the CVN-65 was still in service. As long as it has the Republic IFF and prefix (R.S.S.), it's fine.
