Dorman: That would work normally but do you honestly trust that they would not avenge their people on the race that nearly destroyed theirs? Adjeca is dead sure... but that for them is not enough.. I think that is the one problem... we can't overlook.

*OOC: Is it me or is it now the Republic dictating things now? Just a question... been trying to get the Federation a better image and a changed one. Just doesn't seem to matter much.. Hence the question.*

Darani: What you're forgetting is that my people come through the Lanco System. If the Romulans were to attack, they would risk war with my people.

A war that would be over in less than a month, with no Romulan Empire left on the Galactic Map.

Other than that I agree with the plan.

Reynolds: Get a read out on how long it takes to fire a shot...

Tactical: I am getting about a three second cooldown... in between shots.. its not enough...

Reynolds: Then open fire on it... See if we can knock something loose.

Other than that I agree with the plan.

Darani: That would take time. The Court of the Assembly is very... restrained... towards sending large numbers of ships here.

*Synthesiser Cruiser docked with the Citadel. A Synthesiser guard and soldier drone escort Delby into S. Sam's Quarters. S. Sam nods to them as they walk out.*

    S. Sam: Hope they didn't give you too much trouble, Agent Delby.

    Delby: Kara.

    S. Sam: Kara.

What can I do for you?

Delby: Well, handing over 231701 would be a good start.

    S. Sam: She's a guest of mine.

Delby: You know, technically you're not the legitimate ruler of the Synthesisers... yet. According to interstellar law, I could take her by force.

    S. Sam: I'd like to see you try.

    Delby: Was that a threat?

    S. Sam: No, you misunderstood. I meant that I don't think she'd be too open to the idea.

    You know, it's strange.

    Delby: What?

    S. Sam: 3 years ago, I'd have had you killed the second you stepped foot on this ship. It's really weird having those memories of anger and hatred in these situations and not feeling them now.

Probably a side-effect of using 701's personality as a template instead of my original personality.

Why are you so interested in her?

Delby: You don't know much about her, do you?

    S. Sam: She's a genetic re-write of the original Sam Allington. She has no Trill DNA due to her being re-written from a human. She was created and mentally manipulated by Franklin Drake and used in a plot to kill the Federation President.

    It was my idea.

*Delby pauses for a minute, processing the information.*

I also know that she's recovered from the manipulation Drake put her through, but still believes that she's the real Sam.

Delby: And you don't realise how dangerous that is?

    S. Sam: For Sam? Yes, but only if she sees Sam.

Face facts, Delby. You can't have her.

Delby: She is living a lie. She needs help.

    S. Sam: What makes her any less Sam Allington compared with the original?

The original who is complacent in the murder of billions?

Delby: That's not the point. The point is that she isn't the original and that the original is still alive. 701 can never have that life now and, as it stands, she'll never accept that until she accepts that she isn't the real--

*The door slides open as C. Sam walks in, glaring at Delby.*

    C. Sam: I didn't realise you had guests.

    I can come back--

    S. Sam: No, it's fine. We were just talking about your... legal situation.

    C. Sam: Oh? Then let me summarise for the Agent.

*She steps in front of her, glaring at her.*

    I'm not going back.

Delby: I'm trying to help you.

    C. Sam: How? By trying to make me believe that I'm not who I am? Just because Drake turned me into his personal puppet doesn't make me a clone!

    Delby: Genetic re-write.

    C. Sam: Whatever!

Did it occur to you that the Sam you're protecting is the clone?

Delby: You mean the Sam with Trill DNA? That Sam?

    C. Sam: Oh, come on!

She could very easily be an actual clone and Drake just removed my Trill DNA to make me look like a-- a...

    S. Sam: Genetic re-write.

    C. Sam: Yeah!

Delby: True, but that isn't the case. And, even if it were, you have to face facts. You can't have her life now.

    C. Sam: My life.

The life she stole from me.

Delby: Isn't going from a mix in identity to malevolently stealing your identity a bit of a leap?

    C. Sam: She stole my life. Even if I can't get it back... I'll make her pay for it.

    Delby: Poisoning the well?

    *C. Sam glares at her.*

    You need help.

    C. Sam: I don't want your kind of "help"!

Delby: Look, 701, according to interstellar law, your benefactor over there isn't recognised as holding a position of power. That means, technically, your diplomatic immunity doesn't mean squat.

You need help and I have orders to get it to you. One way or another, you are coming with me.

    C. Sam: Over my dead body!

    S. Sam: Agent Delby...

Try to remember that you are on my ship. If you did try to arrest her here, you'd never get her back to the Citadel.

*C. Sam smirks at her, tightening her fists.*

    Sam.

*She looks back at S. Sam.*

I don't need blood in my quarters.

I know it's easy for you to hate the O.S.S. but--

    C. Sam: Fine.

*She loosens her fists, before walking out. Delby returns her attention to S. Sam.*

    S. Sam: That's the first time I've seen her anywhere near violent.

    Shock therapy?

    Delby: We're not Section 31.

    S. Sam: You've been trying to tell her that she's not who she thinks she is. That'll be torture for anyone.

Delby: You know it's true, though. Why aren't you--?

    S. Sam: Ignorance is bliss.

Besides, if she wants to believe she's the real Sam, who am I to say no? As long as she doesn't hurt anyone for it...

    Delby: Like the real Sam?

    S. Sam: The Sam who's responsible for the deaths of billions? That--?

Delby: Okay, I get the point!

    S. Sam: If she'd actually hurt anyone, it'd be different, but she hasn't.

Delby: My bruised back begs to differ.

    S. Sam: That's different and you know--

*She groans, placing a hand on her head.*

    Delby: Sam?

*Images race through S. Sam's head, of Obliterator warheads exploding in the outer Lanco System as Synthesiser Cruisers burn - as millions of her people burn. Billions of synthetic and mechanical screams fill her mind.*

    S. Sam: No!

    Delby: What's--?

*She sees an image of Romulan Warbirds storming through the nebula.*

    S. Sam *hateful*: Romulan bast*rds!

Dorman: So that's what you did with her. *Sternness on his face * Fine... What makes you think that you won't do it anyway even if I do come.

Morrison: Oh, you have no guarantee that she will live if you do come, but she will die if you don't.

We both know you won't let that happen by not cting.

Oh, and just as added incentive...

*He shows him a medical scan, showing Sam's faetus.*

...she's pregnant. So, if you don't act, you condemn not just her, but an innocent, unborn child, to death.

    How cold are you, Admiral?

*Jorat sends a coded transmission to him, reading:

"Withdraw. We have our pound of flesh. We cannot engage in war with the Republic.

    Yet."*
