Well I wondered if I'd hit 800 before they came out, and I'm at 801.00 now. It makes me sad that I was right, its now, June, we started wondering about this in December of last year, in spite of all we've been told and all the issues, we're still, waiting. I wonder if it will be 900 days for me now, the clock, ticks onward Cryptic, marking the lack of changes on the situation.
One month until 900 days. I'll be, uh, celebrating it with my 200-day old engineering-only android
865 days for me, so I'm a little behind you, but I too was hoping for a conclusion to this before 900. Guess we'll soon have to set our sights at 1000.

History, would argue against optimism my esteemed colleagues. I would not want to see you disappointed, again, since it would further degrade your diminishing feeling toward cryptic.
Q: (GT01) What happened to the extra Android BOFF options? We were informed that wed not only get male and female Androids to choose from, but that wed also have Tactical and Science branch officers to choose from too.
Dstahl: This question required some investigation to determine what happened. Turns out that at the time there was an issue that prevented those additions from happening. That issue appears to be resolved in Season 6 and so now it boils down to having one of the developers revisit this and put in the options.
After all the back and forth in this thread, it's done, it's not done, they're ALL done, now they're all waiting on costumes from the art dept but everything else is working properly...
Now according to Mr. Stahl the variants aren't working for this build of the game but the season 6 changes will allow them to work. However, he also said a dev will have to "put in the options".
So what happened? Everything but the costumes were done and working, did the costumes break the variants??? So will we now see the variants in season 6 or will a dev be working on trying to get them in for season 6?
Oh well, I know what it sounds like to me, but if I dare to discuss my post will be stomped, make up your own minds.

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing, and neither hand knows that the head long ago forgot. I'm sure, if anything, we'll be told a dev will try to get them in for season 6 to satiate us, and in reality absolutely nothing will happen, once again.

We were ignored and forgotten, it's as plain and simple as that.

Farewell, android variants, we hardly knew ye.
after reading that, I now officially have lost all respect for them. Seriously? Why did it require investigation? We were told it was a costume issue. That was an official dev statement, was it not? didn't we all get a nice dev warning about calling him less than truthful?
His answer leaves me to think that was not the case, yet again.
Seriously, Cryptic, at this point, to me, it feels like absolutely NOTHING you say can be trusted anymore because you keep changing things. So many things I want to say right now, but you know who i feel even worse for? The DEV who said it was the costumes, since that statement makes him look horrible.
all I can do is shake my head since it clear, communications within cryptic are broken, possibly beyond repair.
As normal my thoughts and opinions and impressions, yours may not agree.

That's if they came to this thread to investigate and happened across the post where the dev said it was the costumes. Somehow I doubt that and nothing will happen to him.
Might this investigation have revealed that something thought to work well under the current code branch actually may be better implemented if Season 6 were in place first? I know they haven't said as much. But if I'm correct, it's wise to not work on the Android variants twice. When waiting might prove better for the player's.

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying, I am saying that I feel bad for Jheinig, who was the DEV charged with making the variants, who was the person who said it was a costume issue, in MARCH of this year, this is post bug, meaning it should have only required, art team time. Dan has claimed it was something else now entirely that needs S6. Which was it? What caused the change, again?
I've said it repeatedly, but its incidents like this that make me wonder about communication within Cryptic
I wish Cryptic would straight up just come out and tell us these variants aren't going to happen, instead of just stringing us along like this. Honesty is the best policy

Well if it is actually true that they were forgotten and Jheinig is the one who was charged with making the variants, then it should be he who gets in trouble. If it was his project, it means everything in that project is his responsibility, including an art department who forgets about the project followed by jheinig who also apparently forgot about it, too. If the dev in charge of the project just "forgot" about the project, then it should be s/he who takes the entire blame.
This is if it actually mattered to the company that it get done at all. For all we know it could have been Stahl who told Heinig to just forget it or put it on the back burner until season 6. It wouldn't surprise me; heck nothing Cryptic does surprises me, anymore.
Well... If they decided to suddenly change their ways and become a company we could constantly praise instead of shake my head in disappointment, THEN I would be surprised.
I don't want to "blame" anyone, I just want the android variants we were told we'd get. Maybe this thread is getting passed over because a dev has already posted in it?

It's hardly good news, either, we're in exactly the same situation that we were before; fobbed off by Devs who can't or won't communicate or paint a coherent picture as to just what the situation is with these mythical variants.
How did we go from 'only needing costumes' to needing 'investigation to determine what happened'?
The vague nature of Dstahl's reply indicates to me that he doesn't have the slightest idea of what's going on with the android variants, contrary to JHeinig's certainty of merely needing the costumes. The 'issue' isn't even resolved with any certainty with 'Season 6', it merely 'appears' to have been. Back to square one.
Please Cryptic, do investigate this and update us as to what's going on with these variants.
you sir are not alone, I felt that way when I first saw the matrix, they don't want us here, they don't want subs, they want money, nothing more, If they increased the matrix to show the golds more incentive to sub, I'd think it wasn't this way, but everything I see, indicates we're not wanted. Add in things like this topic we're in, and it just reinforces that feeling. but hey, its just me feeling that way, right?
I know it's been a while since this post, but it's still relevant.
Cryptic continues to sell lifetime subs when every other MMO developer that I know of that has offered them had quit before this long after launch. Cryptic occasionally puts lifetime subs on sale to encourage more people to buy them (they are on sale now, as a matter of fact). These two facts are significant evidence that Cryptic does want us here, does want subs, and aren't just focused on the microtransactional business model. If they didn't want subscribers, let alone lifers, why would they try to attract more? If they don't care about subscribers, why do they even reward them over non-subscribers? You'd think that if they didn't care, there's be absolutely no incentive to subscribe, and lifetime subs wouldn't be offered at all, let alone ever put on sale and have additional benefits over just subscribing normally.
The fact is, they care, we matter, but there are forces at work here that we aren't privy to, and it would be unprofessional, as well as inadvisable with respect to legality and security, to discuss with us. We're on the outside, and that fact should be applied to all silences, to all incomplete and unclear messages, coming to us from Cryptic.

Its a sale, they've released more to the C store than into the game.
Where is the vaunted lifer only channel we were going to get?
Captains table? Useless.
What value does the LTS have over silver? So little you can literally spend 1 month sub, and get everything, save for 2 titles, a badge and a character type.
Seriously are 2 titles a badge and a character type worth more than the oddy bundle? they come out to 50.00 each over a sub. Not worth it at all.
If they don't care about subscribers, why do they even reward them over non-subscribers?
a single character slot and some more storage, which a silver can have permanently if they sub, for a month. 15.00 Vs 200.00 also please note they've not announced any more rewards past the current one and folks are approaching those marks, rapidly.

in reality, the Veteran benefits arent all that great, and the meager difference between silver and gold, is not worth 200.00

you're welcome to your opinion as much as the rest of us are, but to me, they don't care about me, they care about my money more than anything. the 700 day android issue is a prime example of it, if they cared about the subs, they'd prioritize this, keep us informed, and stop changing the reasons why its not here yet.
The main problem with STO is that it has up to a tenth of the devs as other MMOs with a similar IP should have. This is Star Trek, one of the most successful science fiction series of our time. Yet it doesn't have the personnel and budget that Star Trek deserves. Resulting in the devs needing to be very strict with their priorities. So stuff that should have been fixed months ago like Android Boffs, takes longer.

considering that they're ready to go, and only need costumes, or so we were told, DEV time, isnt' a factor, its art team time that is. Given they have 1 uniform variant as it is, thats even less work, of the 6, they're now down to 5. That reason btw was in MARCH. that reason wasn't it needs S6, it was they need TIME to get the uniforms done, time that Cryptic decided to use, making the lobi outfits.
quite honestly, they have no acceptable excuse anymore, its over 6 months late, its been delayed by everything under the sun, some times more than once. Now to be told it now needs S6? flat out inexcusable in any way, shape or fashion.

All the investigation He would have had to do..., was read this thread...
He would have found the answers he needed.
We've known for month's what the "supposed" problem was.
My feeling is we just got blown off again.
<shrug>
