This is somebody expressing an opinion, I see no hate in it, even if I may not agree with it. You have a choice to take things personaly or not, you chose the former, that is your problem not ours.
I bet this would not of been said in front of any real life disabled people. If you are not disabled then i expect you just wouldnt understand.
It would also take a whole new modeling system to allow for this. I don't think the game engine can support it, and right now the Devs have other things they are trying to develope.
Sure, its been explained and explained, but it still doesnt stop me wanting it, and thats fine. I never actually thought I'd get one, but I thought (wrongly) that the community would be able to have a reasonable discussion about this.

The discussion has indeed been exemplarily reasonable. The pro-ingame wheelchair-people gave argument, others countered it, then the counter-argument was countered and a new one given...
There is an amicable tone in this thread mainly.
The argumentation is a lot less harsh than comparable "I want" threads (like Fed Carrier, T5 Connie, Non-USS Vulcan ships).

Lol, all I can see is trolleres gota troll. Honsetly ignore all the hate posts in here they are trying to start something. I know where your comming from. Without going into to much detail my Wife also has a disibility with her legs, and some of the things said in here hurt, they really do.

Some threads have been mental, i'll give you that, but this one hasnt been without its personal attacks.

Its people like you that put my faith back into this community.
I highly doubt this would sell well on the C-Store, but there are some that would buy it for sure.
The episode 'Melora' featured a character in a wheelchair, (played by Daphne Ashbrook who also starred in the Dr Who movie) but I think her wheelchair was to do with her species not being able to take our gravity. I thought that was an interesting way of getting a wheelchair bound character into the series and it was a shame it was only for one episode.
For whatever reason, if the devs decided to add a wheelchair to the game and added it to the C-Store with the profits to go to an appropriate charity I would buy it, otherwise, I probably wouldn't.
OP the way you have handled the flamers and trollers and continued this discussion in a respectful manner now makes me support this idea whereas I didn't at first. While I don't think it will be likely I wouldn't object if they said they would do it

Melora's people don't even need a wheelchair - they can use an exoskeleton as well (seen in the episode). Moreover, Lt. Commander Pazlar is a main character in the (non-canon) Star Trek: Titan novel series where she doesn't use the wheelchair at all. Instead, Melora relies on an advanced exoskeleton and a holographic telepresence unit - in the 2380s. Keep in mind that's thirty years before us.

I'd think a lot of people would buy it if it was for a charity.
I won't enter in the discussion of what has been said or not.
I personally believe that everyone have the same rights and the same opportunities, disabled or not, TRIBBLE or straight, black or white, african or latino or any other "group" if you want to call it.
We are all humans.
Regarding your idea of a wheelchar, i believe that can be nice for social purposes, for example ESD or any other place that not involves combat.
In combat situations, as the game is made and the series was done, it is simply not applicable.
Or either your wheelchair is a mini tank or a mini hovercraft (both of this would be OP in the game), or it is useless and you become a weight for the entire team.
I see that the solution could be an exo-suit, much like the one that Professor Charles Xavier used on Fatal Attractions to walk and fight. In this case the suit was powered by his own mental powers, but in Star Trek it can be powered with a battery.
Also, I find OK that you want to emulate yourself over the game, but if the technology existed today to be able to make you walk again, would not accept that?
Then think the same for you toon, he will probably want to get his legs fixed.

Cool! I didn't know that. That might have just given me another reason to start reading that series now.
of course. its just a question of how many people would actually use it.
Erm...
I have to confess, I use very little of what I purchase in the C-Store I am ashamed to say. I think it's cool when I buy the stuff, but then I end up putting in my bank (the STO equivalent of the cupboard under my stairs) and leaving it there to gather dust.
Eek... What am I saying? I live in a bungalow now!
[...] I see that the solution could be an exo-suit [...]
Awesome idea --> our body armor could serve as exo-suit!
And for the pro-wheelchair: Wheelchair in non-combat situations, active body armor when on away missions. (But I'm still against wheelchairs.
I didnt quote you as someone who was being abusive. Who ever said "poor me"
Its quite the opposite, I think I'm one the richest people in the world.
Well your response to me was 'unless you are disabled, you wouldnt understand' which implies you was responding to me.
I AM disabled, and I happen to disagree with you, not because I dont understand, but because I happen to have a different opinion of what is offensive and what is not.
The person you quoted said In their EXPERIENCE, disabled people where pandered to, that is his experience, what is hatefull about that? I dont find it offensive if that is something he feels he has come across so why should you?
Like I said, we all have the option to chose how we experience life, you can chose to be offended, or not.
Just like you can choose to play the game like everyone else does, or choose to ask for things you dont need, and then choose to get offended when people disagree with you.
I would have NO problem with you getting an ingame wheel chair if the game has unlimited time and resouces, but with this content drough and enough time already being wasted on c-store fluff, I dont feel people (disabled or not) should be asking for things they dont need (yes that goes for people asking for silly costumes too)

You see, now that is just awesome thinking. We need a lot of posts like this to support some sort of wheelchair mechanic to get into the game. Does anyone else have any ideas? We can make this work!

So you want resources spent to create an exosuit to allow a bunch of pixels who are emulating being disabled, to emulate the ability to walk, via the emulation of an exoskeleton.

Sorry, I somehow missed your post here.
I respect your first part about us all being equal and completely agree.
The non-combat hover chair would be awesome. Exo skeletal for combat, maybe due to power limits you can only use it for combat and not all the time?
So you want resources spent to create an exosuit to allow a bunch of pixels who are emulating being disabled, to emulate the ability to walk, via the emulation of an exoskeleton.
Do you not see the pointlessness of this?
Only as much as I see the pointlessness of having 100's of costume slots. Its not my thing, but I do not begrudge anyone else wanting them.

The point though is that it doesn't have to be exactly the same. Maybe he's in a wheelchair on ESD or the bridge but yet in combat for ground the exo-suit.
I do not begrudge you wanting a wheelchair, beleive it or not I like for people to be happy. I do have a solution for you however.
A playable borg has an exoskeleton, there is your solution.
Yes you need a lifetime account for it, but if you want it that badly its an answer to your needs.
Nope, all playable borg get is implant options.
The exoplating is something exclusive to the Amazon BOff.
On the other hand the Borg are not disabled, since their nanoprobes are capable of healing most injuries
Any drone beyond healing/repairing is terminated.

Maybe you could rig up wheel spikes or axle blades instead of using a Bat'leth or Lirpa?

I demand the devs make "Diet" Slug-O-Cola this instant so I feel more at home in my virtual world! Stop the discrimination!
