all ports are "open" in router...im on wifi but that shouldnt cause THIS much lag should it..i play other multiplayer games just fine off same wifi router. Though not massive were talking 10-24 other guys on same server. You think its wifi...overheating(again running 74 c while running the game, normal around 28c when not) combo of both, or on isp's end or your end...bc im at wits end with trying to get this TRIBBLE to work.

base on these reading I would say your connection over the net from your modem to the servers are ok yu have good routing tracert and the nettest is fairly good. Now the game is not very tolernet of wifi connections and there are some intermittent drops in values that could be caused by mometary drops in the wifi.
as far as temp that depemds on the card and age. I usualy run around 69 c in the game but I have had cards that start to act strange when temps get near 75 while other work without problems.

first thing I would do is.
    1. use a wire connection if you can to see if things improve.
2 if not then I would set the game to limit the max frame rate to lower the amount of heat while making sure everything is clean out in the pc.

please go over these steps to make sure "max frame rate is set to low", thank you.

in the game options under the video tab check the option to show advance video settings at the bottom there is a section title throubleshooting.
In that section there is a drop down option for limit frame rate . if set to off the game will use as default frame the fastest your card can handle . this can generate a lot of heat.
set it to 60 frame will give good video without causing a lot of extra heat.

As detailed in another thread, I'm having issues of the "stuck completely, buttons non-functioning" variety. On occasion, it allows me to move, but severe rubber banding occurs.

I'm having MASSIVE lag issues, and I know for a fact that it is network lag and not video lag - like "Server Not Responding" about 75% of the time, constant rubberbanding, and basically the complete inability to do anything in the game.

Strangely, when I run STO, it's not just STO that lags, but my entire internet connection grinds to a halt, as websites that take a half second to load when STO is closed suddenly take 30 seconds to a minute to open. I have nothing downloading in the background at all, nor do I have anything streaming. I went into the Launcher Options and checked "Disable On-Demand Patching". I also tried running from the US Proxy server. None of this helped.

This is on Comcast 6Mb Cable in Athens, Georgia. I had absolutely zero connection issues when I played this game a year ago on my Comcast 12Mb Cable, but since 6Mb is still quite fast, I can't see that drop causing such horrible lag. I'm on a wireless network, but I have a gigantic antenna on my wifi adapter, so I always have full signal.

I'll paste the Tracert and Nettest results without STO running, followed by the results when it is running. You'll see that they change drastically for the worse when it is running.

ART2B4H, -Fala-, Jaremilus you all are showing major routing problems at Frankfurt . I would show the copy or your results to your ISP and see if they can route around Frankfurt.

    Hi
Had to do a complete reinstall of my system and ever since this STO has been taking ages to load up and is unplayable in evening and during day.

I backed up the entire Cryptic Studios directory to a new location off the main drive and did my reinstall, I now run STO from the new location.

Before the Reinstall everything ran fine.

Below are tracert and nettest results:

Is there any advice as to what to do if ALL your ports are below the average on the nettest results.

    I generally have between 40-100kb / 5-10kb / and 40-100kb.

I know this is bad but there is no help anywhere about what to do next!

Its bad ..yes ...but how do I fix it? What is the point of doing the nettest if the info is not usable!

You can send us a ticket in PWE tech support and we can work on things with you.

For other PWE games, players have 100-250k ms hops on their traceroutes and can still play ok. Those can add up.

It might be something local on your network or system that is causing you problem, not the main internet connection.

If you can not find your technical support solution on the forums, or in the support FAQs, please feel free to contact us.

You can do so here: https://support.perfectworld.com/ If you want to send us a ticket, you may have to create a PWE account and/or associate your Cryptic account to a PWE account.

Or, you can send us an email to customerservice@perfectworld.com

If you send us an email, PLEASE include as much information as you can about your problem.

Which game, where in the game, what kind of problem? Installation, download, update, connection, Windows, hardware, software, antivirus, login and similar problems are.

    Thanks!

A lot of this would go away if Cryptic had a decent ISP. The ISP they use is substandard. Asking users to have their ISP route around a substandard server network is not really going to be effective because all of the upstream packets are still going to be misrouted.

Hop 4 is probably around the area of your ISP's master routing appliance. What ISP do you use?

You might have a little better connectivity if you use Googles free DNS servers.

I'd like to add that all my lag/connectivity issues have been in space sections of the game (system and sector), but I have never had any lag or connection issues while on a ground mission of any sort.

    Hi,

I'm also having issues. In the month when STO was released, space worked pretty much fine for me while ground was a complete rubberband-fest. I returned recently and I'm finding similar issues. Space and sector is having frequent but minor rubberband-hiccups and ground is still pretty bad. What is worse is that I'm having a LOT of disconnects in loading screens and logging into the game at times is simply impossible.

I'm playing from New Zealand, so I don't expect a perfect ping but I've played many other US based games from here with a stable ping between 160-300 and it was fine. STO however keeps being a shitstorm of lag and disconnects and I have no idea why. I did diagnostics of my network adapter and driver update checks as advised elsewhere but everything was fine there.

I have a telecom.nz landline and my ISP is Slingshot (I know it's weird but the place I live at has a TRIBBLE setup). I have friends living in the same area using the same ISP and they have no problems with STO.

    Here are my tracings:

I'm having lag issues like many others, disconnecting at loading screen, disconnecting once in-game, before I get the chance to do anything... Rubber-banding once I do get in, then d/c again.

I'm from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and I use the ISP Rogers. I have to best possible service they provide, so usually I have no problems.

I wasn't able to do the nettest, since it doesn't actually work somehow... It gets stuck at "Port: 80:"

I did manage to do the trace test.

Same lagging here. I downloaded the client and installed on 01.24 maybe, before the last patch (I think when b.1 patched to b.6 version).
Before the last patch, I am capable to play smoothly everywhere, got lieutnant level 2 or 3. After patch... lag, rubber, disconnect all the time. Mostly lag of course.

I thought: maybe the yesterday maintenance will fix it. No...

I haven't good internet, and playing from Europe, but then why am I capable playing several hours without this lagerrors? My PC is very capable, I think (E6300@2,86, 4 GB DDR2, Geforce9600GT).
My PC is bugfree, installed 1 month ago, updated drivers, so on...

Please, examine and think about this problem!

I started playing first week of january and have no trouble at all for almost 15 days.

Since last week I started to have disconnection and not responding messages.
Tonight I had already been 3 times disconnected.

Laptop Win 7 64 bit on core I7 2760qm with Nvidia GTX 570M, enough ram and a optic fiber internet connection.
I don't have lag or connection problem with others mmo, except when connection issue are coming from the servers side.

I will add that each time I got kicked and get to login screen. I re-enter immediately and got to character selection.
Please check and fixed the problem

My ISP is Rogers and I live in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It's been bad for a week or two. I just dismissed it as my roommates playing SW:TOR, but given the tracert results it's probably something else.

After 1 days from this message, patched. It was very fine.
For another 2 days (next patch)... it was bit laggy. And another patch----> unplayable.

After getting into space, the ui doesn't load fully, the mission list sometimes loaded, sometimes not, the ship dont move, the submenus don't work, and some untranslated text shown in certain areas, menus.

    What is the problem?
