I seem to be having the same problems with this game as others it seems.
I could play for a couple of hours, with no issues, or just log on, and receive a ping of over 2000!!
YET, I can surf the web, watch videos, even load up other games, or download at my normal high speed.
my nettest seems LOW for the first column and last column.
i am not an expert on this, so i will deffer to you in hopes that we can resolve this issue so I can get back to playing mah game!!

Hello. I have recently returned to the game, and found a problem with lag that I never had before. I don't think it's my ISP, because I have a friend who was on at the same time as me without any issues.

Here's my nettest. Sometimes the second Port 80 times out, sometimes it's around 300. Sometimes it times out, and sometimes it's really low. I've seen the test hang on other ports too.

My ISP is Suddenlink, in Amarillo, Texas. Running Windows 7 Home 64bit, exceeds system reqs by a decent margin. No issues in any other online games.

I see something timed out - that changes every time I run the tracert. Sometimes I can play without a hitch for a while and then rubberbanding happens, till I get disconnected. I have played at 4pm, 9pm, 3am...time makes no difference. There is a Belkin wireless router on my network. I have tried removing it with no notable results. I have all firewalls down. Tried powercycling everything.

This didn't happen a few months ago. Can someone tell me how to fix it?

Oh, and I tried the US Proxy option in the launcher. No beans. I will try the EU one now.

ETA The EU proxy doesn't solve anything.

Seems like people are spending way more time trying to fix the problem rather then enjoying the time playing it :)
Welp...back to trying to figure it out...

This problem cleared up after a few days, and now it's back again. I've not noticed any other issues with my online games or netflix. Initially I thought it was the high winds, as that was going on during my last issue...but it's beautiful out, if a bit cold.

I talked to Suddenlink and they said they don't see anything wrong with my connection, and I've never had them mess around with me before.

So...Cryptic, fix your stuff. Don't mind paying a sub, if everything works. Otherwise, I'm glad the game is going F2P.

    Hey guys,

Since about two weeks ago it's become increasingly more difficult to play STO. It used to be that I could log on and play without any trouble, but along came an update you guys posted to Holodeck, and later Tribble, and now I regularly get kicked off the servers. Holodeck's all but become a total pain to log into, while Tribble is so-so. I can at least PLAY on Tribble, while Holodeck has me sitting watching a lot of loading screens time out.

Here's the info you've asked for:

This problem has gone from bad to worse, I'll literally log in and not be able to move/interact, or if I can I'll move across all of space dock or a sector only to rubberband back to where I was when I started, and I get disconnected constantly. Map moving has become a huge challenge as well. All of this is on Holodeck only. I have already verified files, and my connection isn't the problem as I have been able to play on Tribble without any problems. Please fix this...

UPDATE: Curious note... since the recent patch on the 17th it's been a LITTLE better on Holodeck, but best results are connecting through the EU proxy... o_O

    All:

I tried the Nettest and Tracert tests, submitted 3 support tickets, and was on phone with my ISP for almost an hour and nothing ever got resolved. My cable coming in goes into a splitter and then 1 cable goes to my router and the other cable goes to a seperate wireless modem. My ethernet cable was going between my router and my PC. I switched it to run from my wireless modem to my PC and that cleared up the issue. No idea why.

    For what it's worth.

    Renew IP Address
    • Go to Start Menu
    • Search for cmd
    • Right-click and "Run as Administrator"
    • Type the following: ipconfig /release
    • Hit Enter
    • Now, type ipconfig /renew

you have huge routing problems in your first 6 hops .
I would show those results to yur ISP and it looks like major problem at thier end (or your local modem)

I'm in the UK and have never had lag problems before.

Started a few day ago after one of the latest patches - seems to be getting worse.

Couple of fleet members have also mentioned it over the last few days as well.

    Coincidence?

    R

you have major router problems hops 6-10 specially at hopss 7 to 8. I would try the different proxy options in the launcher to see if the different routing by using them helps or contact yur isp and see if they can setup a perferred routing to by pass the trouble route.

    1. I am on a Dell 15z and connecting to the internet using a D-LINK DGL-4500 Xtreme N 802.11n Draft wireless Gaming Router. Never had any problems on it with STO until now. However, my gaming typically is done with a Alienware m17x and not this 15z.

    2. Played STO all morning, shut down 'puter, took nap. Came back, stuck at 'character loading' screen or sometimes 'retrieving maps' ... my router would crash and then cycle. I addressed firewalls, possible ipv6 issues, you name it ... I'm dumbfounded.

    3. I play in an apt here in Midtown Manhattan. Wireless is usually damn decent - I raided constantly in more graphically demanding situations. ISP timewarnercable nynj and roadrunner.net

No wonder I have sooooo much lag. I have less than half of the good values. Game sometimes freezes for up to 10 sec in PVP. As an escort that is instant death starting an alpha strike. Gotta get better ISP.

I've been having MAJOR issues the last two days, issues I've never had in the last two years of playing this game.

Constant rubber-banding, disconnects in the middle of STF's and even Defera, lots of times when the UI doesn't "catch up" to what I'm actually doing and I can't type or anything. I just now beamed to Starfleet Academy and was invisible.

In all these circumstances, I could visibly see what EVERYONE ELSE is doing but sometimes they can't see me at all or they just see me not moving.

My PC is running at 100%, graphics aren't an issue either.

    Here is my general info:

I ran tracert a couple times, and once EVERYTHING was fine, then again I tested it and only port 443 was bad, now I test it and several different ones are no good. Pings are all good on the cmd.exe front too.

Kostamojen I'm having the same issue, gave up and stopped playing about an hour ago, it's progressively gotten worse over the last 6 hours.

Sat here in Wales, UK pretty much not able to play STO so I decided to call Virgin Media and have just spoken to a technical support person who told me "A technical problem has been detected in your area today, but unfortunately it will not be fixed until 5pm on the 22nd of December."

My response... "You've got to be kidding me! You expect me to pay for this TRIBBLE?"

Customer support "What I can do for you, is make sure you are not billed for the duration of this fault in the network"...

Me... "Can I take your name please?"

Anyway the conversation didn't last much longer, but I found out why I can't play the game. No doubt they'll bill everyone else who doesn't phone up to find out what's going on.

all ports are "open" in router...im on wifi but that shouldnt cause THIS much lag should it..i play other multiplayer games just fine off same wifi router. Though not massive were talking 10-24 other guys on same server. You think its wifi...overheating(again running 74 c while running the game, normal around 28c when not) combo of both, or on isp's end or your end...bc im at wits end with trying to get this TRIBBLE to work.
