For those who don't have beta access, care to toss up some screens from the builds going out?

Bring it on Heretic! I ain't scared!!

Yeah...bring it, real Klingons aren't scared of a DOFF system. Will the marauding system also be released with this DOFF system since I believe you all stated that the DOFF system will be what some of the Marauding XP will come from???.... I sure hope we haven't been forgotten again... I am beginning to loathe the phrase 'coming soon' (tm)....lol....... ;)

I don't need incentives, just give it to me. I'll take the bribes, but I'd have done it for free:D

    Testing incentives or playing incentives?

Don't let the cookies delay the test start. ;)
To have a total new sublayer of gameplay is incentive enough, or atleast it should.

Can't wait to lay my hands on it. :D

I just listened to STOKED 98 and I believe Dan Stahl said that they are looking into granting mission rewards on the live server when you complete said missions on the testing server in order to drive more population onto the F2P-DOFF-Event tech sporting Tribble.

Give it a listen. It's an hour long though.

Wow... Now that would lead to an empty Holodeck server... lol

Well, most of the people HERE, in this thread, will probably be spending a great deal of time testing it when they're able to. Most people in-game don't read the forums though. Heck, there are still people on the forums that have no idea what's going on about the switch from Tribble to Redshirt, so even the fact that there is news posted here about the DOff system doesn't mean everyone is reading it or even knows about it.

Marauding is a part of the doff system. So it's just one release.

Currently, Marauding XP is primarily gained through the duty officer system. Marauding and Diplomacy assignments will both be available when the system is launched.

Our goal for this release to Tribble will be to get as many people on the game, poking at it, and trying to break everything so when it goes live we have all of the inevitable issues worked out - and there is no way there won't need to be a significant amount of iteration for the duty officer system.

For the duty officer system, I want to see how fast people progress through things, what the actual xp and rewards rate are, and most importantly of all, what aspects do people like and what aspects do people not like so we can - where feasible - tweak things towards the former.

This. The number of people on the forums is tiny compared to the playerbase, and the number of people who actually post is a similarly tiny fraction of the people who read the forums.

I really hope there are tribble test rewards for testing the Doff and F2P stuff.

I may be starved for content but I'm also not a fan of playing broken content. Unless there is some perk I'd rather wait till the stuff hits live to play it. We've already waited 6+ months for most of this stuff so waiting a few more weeks isn't a big deal to me.

I've just had a curious thought process... lol

I responded to this in my mind, "Oooh, I want to help you break the world" and then thought "Wait a minute, this is an MMO, will it be possible for players to complete multiplayer DOff assignments? Has this even been considered? And if so how would that work?"

Will we be able to at beta launch or will we be able to later on have more than one player assign a DOff to the same mission assignment?

Would there be a point in doing this?

P.S. Did anyone like the assignment ideas I posted on the last page?

Yes, among other rewards, there will be specific rewards on Holodeck for testing the duty officer system on Tribble.

This has been discussed as a likely direction for fleet assignments when we turn our attention to fleets and starbases after the duty officer system is live and stable.

I smell a tribble that when pet enhances slotted doff abilities by a percentage. OR, to make things a bit different, a doff. OH! Like EQAH! The Emergency Quality Assurance Hologram of Farktoid and Zero fame! That would make a great test reward. ;) Dunno what they would do, but it I would be for it.

Oh this sounds... this sounds like fleets might be able to transfer spare DOffs to (and maybe from?) fleet starbases and could possibly do starbase DOff assignments?

They need to drop the 'log in for an hour' way of giving the reward. If you give a reward it should be for completing a series of specific tests. People just stand in ESD to run out the timer.

To be honest, from what Heretic is saying you could actually be standing around for an hour in ESD or sitting in SecSpace and still be doing some decent testing with the DOFF system.

I'm kind'a looking forward to the addition of Diplomatic assignments to the system simply because once I ground my primary up to ambassador, I really, really did not want to have to do taht specific grind again with my two other high level characters that had already passed the majority of DXP on the storyline climb.

Mark my words. It's going to be a Duty Officer Tribble that counts as a Counselor. :D

To quote Zapp Brannigan (more or less):

Wait, you have to be logged in to move the DoFF quest along

I was hopping I can just jump in and out though they day.

    wake up.eat
get reports from finished crew + send back out
    morning walk + email
get reports from finished crew + send back out
    morning checks + facebook
    lunch
get reports from finished crew + send back out
    customer call
    work
    dinner
get reports from finished crew + send back out
    game
    work
get reports from finished crew + send back out
    sleep

since the world is persistent, I figured they would come back while I was logged out. Am I wrong?

Duty officer assignments will continue to progress even if you are logged out.

Incentive rewards for the duty officer system on Tribble will be based on how many and which Commendation tiers you attain. Commendation tiers are attained by accumulated commendation xp in each of the eleven or so different categories; commendation xp is gained by successfully completing duty officer assignments.

Will the assignments be modified so we will be able to speed up the testing or we have more assignment slots than holodeck? For example, a 3 day assignment only takes 3 hours on tribble.

This will be on Tribble for quite a while, so there are currently no plans to accelerate assignments. We want to know what the natural feel of the system is.

    Heretic,

If we have a character that is already a Federation Ambassador, that would defeat the purpose to attain more Commendation so I assume you would like a character that is around the first level Diplomacy rank of Attache for the test.

Also, do you suggest working on one character through all of the commendations for the test or using multiple characters? I have 6 Fed (3 VAs/Fed Ambass) and 3 Klingons (Lt Gen, Capt, Lt Cmdr 1) that I could test with.

    Matt
