Some updates on current iterations of the system some of you may be interested in:
1. Tweaking the number of assignments you can have active at once from 10 to 20. Note that this is an experiment; we're going to see how it goes and iterate on this as appropriate.
2. Diplomacy and Marauding commendation category rewards will still grant a purple bridge officer of the opposite faction at Tier 4, but for Tiers 1, 2 and 3 will grant a unique duty officer of the opposite faction (green for Tier 1, blue for Tier 2, purple for Tier 3 - note that the other commendation categories are usually green for Tier 1/2, blue for Tier 3, purple for Tier 4).
As an aside, we are working on some special incentives for Holodeck for players to test various things on Tribble, including the duty officer system. It's not just tribbles this time...
ummm... They are already geting the Tribble Testing Rewards ready, and letting Us know in Advance...
Could we be that close to it going on Tribble???
Yipeee....
I was gonna wait for it to hit the Holodeck, just in case I get bored to soon or frustrated with it...
I didn't wanna feel like I wasted my time and have to do it all over again on Holo.

Has it been considered to have more Mission "Slots" unlock as you progress in Tiers? Say someone who is Tier 4 Diplomacy would walk into the system with 13 blocks open and each tier you rank 4 in would add to your total available mission slots up to max of 20?
This could even be added to things for synergy among the tiers. Say Science assignments tiered at 4 would add to Colonial or Engineering mission slots?

How much space does Tribble take up on a PC? I fear I'll have to make space
Roughly the size of Holodeck plus a little extra (up to a couple gigs for really big updates). So consider freeing up enough space for a second copy of the game.
So is there a separate tribble rewards for testing the Doff system and the changed STFs or is there just one reward?
The current plan is for separate rewards, but the details are still being finalized. We feel it is very important for there to be significant testing of this system, and are attempting to structure its time on Tribble to make sure this happens.

We considered this, but the problem is that increasing the number of assignments you can run severely complicates the rewarding of numerics and makes it extremely difficult to make sure people aren't severely under or over rewarded for their use of the system.
The duty officer system has been designed to primarily reward your time spent per setup of an assignment and logistical cleverness, rather than your accumulated time in the system. Accumulated time in the system - in the form of achieving higher tiers - will, however, grant you access to a wider array of assignments and a static progression of rewards as you achieve each tier.

Okau, make it a very rare Tribble Boff - I WANT a bouncing Tribble on my my crew - either bouncing around at a Bridge station or bouncing along on the ground while balacing and firing his auto assault rilfe as needed.:p;)
I have a question, and I apologize if it has been asked elsewhere and answered:
Will Klingons get the ability to transwarp to various sectors through the Marauder system like the Federation does with the diplomacy system? If so, how will it work? If my memory is correct, the Federation players transwarp to certain starbases (K7, Deep Space 9, etc.). Currently, the Klingons have two other starbases they can visit, but they are in the same sector (Eta Eridani).

This is in the current plan. It may or may not be in place when the system if pushed to Tribble, but I expect it to be in place by the time the system is pushed to Holodeck.
There is a tentative plan for where KDF characters will be able to warp to, but many details have yet to be worked out.

When will the Doff system and revised STF's be available for testing on tribble?
I head up a R&D testing department in my fleet, a few of the devs are privy to our operation.
I just want to make sure that my team is ready and set up to set them as soon as possible.

I'm just going to take the opportunity to mention this.
I am toying with the thought to copy a couple thousand polygeminus grex tuffli to the tribble server prior to the server wipe on monday. What a gruesome way to disappear. *mad cackle*
I've been away from the game and forums due to school. Got a long weekend (for me anyway, turning 31 on Sunday) coming up, is in in Beta Testing? When will it hit Tribble? Thanks in advance for replies.
Are the closed beta testers giving decent feedback?
Judging from the tribble / redshirt switch that appears to be happening I would hazard a guess that it hasn't started yet. Still wondering why the servers have to be switched though.
On a side note: Too late Heretic! More than 3000 tuffli tribbles await their doom now. *shakes fist* *cackles maniacly*
heh, folks need some external drives it seems. I've got a ton of stuff I only play now and again but I've got 2x 640 gig dives in this laptop, couldn't go larger since it only has 9mm bays so no 750 or 1 tb drives can be used.
I eagerly look forward to the Duty Officer system. I hope to have the U.S.S. Kumari-B be a mostly-Andorian vessel (about 80%) with other species mixed-in. I'm looking forward to sending the troopers out, colonial workers to establish bases and scientists to make great discoveries.

But now, with this announcement...,
I guess I'll be tacklin' it on Tribble too.
Heritic did use the plural form of the word Incentive.

Rule of thumb: Treat any test server install like a complete second copy of the game so far as disk space requirements are concerned.
Roughly the size of Holodeck plus a little extra (up to a couple gigs for really big updates). So consider freeing up enough space for a second copy of the game.
19.9GB free of 136GB Old laptop
101 GB free out of 920 GB+1 TB on external drives free.
That's what happens when you edit movies in 1080p then don't need to anymore.

Don't let a jerk who points a phaser set to kill push you around. Give us the Tribble!
I kid. I kid.
I can do better 15 free out of 750

I see many stories in the works!
Fun!
Nothing directly has so far been built into the system; ground assignments requiring military force use Security department duty officers.
The canonicalness of MACOs in the modern era of Star Trek is one of those hotly-contested questions that I personally try to sidestep where possible.
